I bought a used copy of Kiss Alive 2 at  a flea market for a few dollars of my own money.  I was probably in the 3rd or 4th grade.

11 year old kid and loved the look of this cover.  Sly and the Family Stone. There's a Riot going on.   Led to me like funk and bass.

Bought at a Ben Franklin Five and Dime store.

Great topic. I wish my answer was more cool like what's above...  : /

Mine was this.  Lots of lame on this thing, but it did have some gems - Long Cool Woman and All the Young Dudes if I recall.

In my defense, my brother talked me into it. I was 5 at the time...

I honestly dont remember. My older brother had just gone off to college when I got the bug, so blew through his collection first.  Bands that had either broken up or died; Beatles then Jimi. If this wasn't the first, it would have been in the first five. Eventually saw him live with his original singer.

First album on cassette, recorded from LPs: A side - Rolling Stones Rolled Gold. B - side Beatles Sgt Pepper.   (long gone, wore it out)

First real album I got that was from the music store: cassette with Rod Stewart - Atlantic Crossing.    (still have it)il_570xN.6003479176_mkyw.jpg

First LP I got for my birthday: ABBA - Greatest hits.   (still have it)

Either, “Jackson 5’s Greatest Hits”, or, “Elton John’s G/H.” Once I got Beatles, “Hey Jude” compilation, there was no turning back.

Whoa! “Alive”, with the Euro Kiss logo! How cool is that?

Never knew there was such a thing. Why?

It was (or is) illegal in Germany to display NSDAP imagery. I don’t know if it is illegal in other countries.

The, “SS”, in the Kiss logo is verboten, so they had to use the other font. I can respect their decision on the imagery. I mean, you don’t want the kinder tying their shoes in little knot-zies, now do ya?

As the youngest of 4, I spent all the years up to my preteens listening to my older siblings records and cassettes. This album came out in June 1991, 1 month before my 13th birthday and it was the first (CD) I ever bought. Still my favorite of the Sammy era.

I had a bunch a 8 tracks from Columbia House (Kiss, Frampton, BTO, etc) but the 1st album I actually paid for myself was this comp I found in the cut out bin, probably 5th or 6th grade;

I had both Vol 1 and Vol 2 of those. Sold them when I collected the Sab catalogue.

Birds of a feather, different genres I may have bought Jones' greatest hits first. It was released in 1960 (when I was 10) but Homer & Jethro's anthology was a 1958 release.

This was the first one I ever picked out for myself and bought but coincidentally to OP, BTO - Not Fragile was THE album that got me into hard rock.  My brother is 7 years older than me and had left most of his 8-track collection behind when he went to college.  I worked my way through them and that was my first real "favorite album".

The above is still sort of a “guilty pleasure”
