Well, I came home today to the conclusion of my experiment.

Date of order: April 15, 2009

Date received: February 12, 2010

--

One "just off the truck fresh" pack of Snake Oil Rock Formula 10-46.

I'm gonna need a good story as to why you should get these gems though.

I guess they aren't really hard to find now that he has resumed business, but you never know when they might disappear again!

So how do they sound? Was it worth all the hassle?

just as hitler was gaining steam in 1939, my great grandfather, a russian jew, ripped off a whorehouse to get the money to flee russia. he came to boston, and even though he couldn't speak english, he started working & saving money, eventually bringing his family over one at a time.

Ever since elementary school I had a severe stutter. Most teachers tended to ignore me and place me in the back of the class, even though I was one of the better students academically. This trend followed me through junior high and high school. It was a constant struggle to get out of the "vocational arts" track that my "disability" had placed me on. I always thought I was better suited for AP English rather than metal shop.

During my senior year my school thought it might be a good idea to send me to a speech therapist. This lady taught me several devices to control my stutter, but it never really went away and would show up at job interviews and other high pressure moments. I graduated from high school without taking the SATs since my "guidance" counselor said it wasn't worth the cost.

After working in construction for two years, a girlfriend convinced me to go back to school. I did so well that on a lark, I applied to both Stanford University and Santa Clara University. I was accepted by both on nearly full rides. I graduated from SCU 6 years after graduating from high school. Not that bad of a detour.

I'm reminded of this because just today, a co-worker mentioned that I was taking overly-dramatic pauses when I was giving a presentation. I told him it was a device I used to control my stutter. He was astounded because he had never noticed any kind of speech impediment. We've worked together for ten years.

Here I am in my workshop. I am a gourmet home cook, I tell fun stories, I please the ladies....and I dress sharp.

My most awkward moment:

College. Dorm. Glass-enclosed concrete stairway, late evening.

I'm leaning back against the wall, talking to a girl I'd recently met, who was sitting on the floor a few feet away at the base of the stairs.

In mid-conversation, she makes the error of trying to hold in a sneeze...

I got like eight, ten packs of 0.9-0,46 and 0,9-0,42 gauge Snake Oil strings when I bought my T62, from a member of this board. I have not been that impressed by these strings at all. They are ok, but not better than your ordinary set of D'addarios.

Mattias - dunno which model you've got, but I have not heard anything sounding like Rock Formula strings. However I was not really impressed with Vintage model on my strat.

but its all down to personal tastes and preferences.

Got stuck in the mountains of rural Mexico once, spent that night sleeping on the seat of my truck with my feet hanging out the door.

I was awakened at the crack of dawn by a burro biting my toes while trying to eat one of my socks... (true story)

Snake Oil Strings are the only brand I can comfortably play since I lost the thumb and three knuckles of my fretting hand protecting the virginity of a wax statue of Gary Sandy. I need the strings in time to complete my album of Gregorian plainchant/ pop metal balladry in time for the Festival of Heru, which I plan to celebrate by going bottomless at my local Whole Foods.

Dean Farley stole $168.00 from me last year.

A couple of years ago I returned to the health club after a long summer off. I played a grueling tennis match and walked up the back stairs to the locker room to shower. I entered, looked around, and noticed that they had remodeled since spring. Things didn't look quite right, but they HAD cleaned the place up quite a bit. Nice!

I ducked into one of the new little booths that had been constructed, removed my clothes, grabbed my towel and headed to the bathroom. As I rounded the corner and saw the row of stalls down the wall, it hit me: "I'm standing naked in the women's locker room!" I wish I could have seen the look on my face. Luckily, there was only one woman in the locker room and she was sequestered in her shower stall. I scurried back to my little booth, hastily dressed, and slunk up one more flight of stairs to the men's room, all the while rehearsing my speech for the officers that were bound to show up at any moment: "But officer, really, I'm GAY! Seriously!"

lately I've been reminiscing about tomorrow.

Just the other day I was looking forward to yesterday.
