Hamerica Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks to all for the emails, pms and phone calls. And to think I got an "F" in creative writing in my sophomore year in high school. Hamerica HOLY Crap I just got off the phone with Hamstd wondering how the hell he got Rick to sell him #0004? Basically he started asking me several questions about the various Rick Nielsen and Paul Hamer rumors. Almost everyone knows that Rick Nielsen has/had or wanted to have an interest in Hamer Guitars even back in the early days. Jol, Paul, and Frank U declined. Rick recently was trying to open "Ricks Place" in Rockford and it had been shuttled due to lack of funding. Hamstd then mentioned talking about being in contact with Paul Hamer. In another post, BCR Greg had mentioned something about Paul Hamer might be coming back to Hamer. I thought that was just all talk. Jack Butler mentioned in post about there was going to be some shaking going on in CT. This is what is going to be announced 9 a.m. EST. on CNBC - FMIC sells Hamer to Private Equity Group. If I got this right (cause I was shakin' when I heard it) - Rick Nielsen, Paul Hamer, Hamstd and ? have purchased more than 51% of Hamer Guitars. Another "silent partner" (isn't that Cheap Tricks managements companies name?) has agreed to purchase the remaining interest from FMIC or FMIC will still have the option to own some kind of stake in Hamer. No mention of Frank U. Not sure what they actually purchased but I guess we will find out shortly. Congrats to Rick, Paul, and Peter. Hamerica
HamStd Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Brian, I guess everyone will hear about it tomorrow. I don't think it will make CNBC and I certainly don't think any story on Jessie James going into Sex Rehab or Tiger Woods playing in the Masters is going to get bumped either. But I think this is going to be a new and interesting venture to start off 2010!!!!Hopefully more T-Bolts, Checkerboard Explorers and set neck Calis to come out of CT as well.Peter
serial Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Is this an April Fools thing? I know that it's still 4/1 on the West Coast, but not here!If so...HOLY SHIT!!!! That's awesome!
chap Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I picked up a few clues and Im like (didn't know Hamer was a public company LOL) I'm beginning to not like Apr 1, pranked a couple times at work too. Gawd I hope I'm wrong here ...
specialk Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Even though it's still April 1 on the West Coast, I don't think Peter and co. would joke about something as big as this. If it is true, this is the best possible outcome I could've hoped for. True fans/historians/stalwarts of Hamer USA actually buying the company. Victor Kiam is spinning in his grave I guess. I need to start keeping tequila in the house....
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 ...nothing on the wiki page about the sale....nothing through a google news search about the sale.
mirrorimij Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 If this is a joke you are a sick, cruel man Peter. If its not congratulations and I wish you guys the best of luck. I think they will thrive outside of the FMIC machine.
hamerhead Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 AH YA BASTIDS!! Ya got me on that one! All day long I was catchin' 'em and throwin' 'em back. DAMMIT! Good one.
BCR Greg Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 In another post, BCR Greg had mentioned something about Paul Hamer might be coming back to Hamer. I thought that was just all talk. Actually, I mentioned that he might come back to the HFC. Anything else you may have heard was OBVIOUSLY hearsay.
burningyen Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 There oughta be a law that April Fool's Day only happens on east coast time.
specialk Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Guess I'll just change my screen name to MrGullible.... Still, it WAS a nice story.
mirrorimij Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Can someone come clean and say if this is a joke or not. I talked to my friends in the shop and they know nothing. I'd hate to see someone stressing over their job so you guys can have a laugh.
ArnieZ Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 And the guys who build both Ovation and Hamer would work where? I'm not buying it. The workshop would be relocated? I love Hamer but if I was in investor, I don't think I'd roll those dice!ArnieZ
Devnor Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard they've found a way to raise Jimi Hendrix from the dead...and he'll be playing doubleneck Calis & Virts.
Jason01 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard zombie Hendrix will be playing a Gibson that looks like a strat!

DavidE Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard they've found a way to raise Jimi Hendrix from the dead...Since they keep releasing new material, this is a possibility.
serial Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard they've found a way to raise Jimi Hendrix from the dead...Since they keep releasing new material, this is a possibility. No, all that proves is that he was never dead in the first place.
Guest JackButler Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I thought Jimi and Elvis went halfsies on a White Castle franchise in Duluth.
serial Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I thought Jimi and Elvis went halfsies on a White Castle franchise in Duluth. That's what I heard from a reputable source as well.Or was it a Bojangles?
JohnnyB Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard they've found a way to raise Jimi Hendrix from the dead...Since they keep releasing new material, this is a possibility.Yeah, but they keep him locked in the studio. A live performance wouldn't be pretty.
crunchee Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Speaking of 'live' performances... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1uHWyQHMK0...feature=related
