TattooedCarrot Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Here's an update for all of you who were involved in the previous threads related to the stolen Hamer. The story goes; I bought a Hamer last week. After posting new guitar pics on several forums, it was brought to my attention that the guitar was believed to have been stolen from fellow forum member Formula73 (who I have known casually through the Duncan forums, but not personally, for years) -7 YEARS AGO!!!! I reached out the Formula73, and the previous owner, username buckwild. I was able to confirm the stolen story pretty quick and there was no alternative but to make sure Formula73 got his guitar back. Both Forumula73 and buckwild were stand-up guys and decided they would not let me take the entire loss alone, and we all agreed to split the loss three ways. Then came along forum member BTMN, and all of you. BTMN started a fundraiser soliciting donations on several forums to help ease the pain of the pretty good $$ loss we were now sharing. After all was said and done you all raised $1100 and that has significantly reduced our out-of-pocket loss. I just wanted to say thank you to Forumla73, buckwild, BTMN, and all of you who joined in to help complete strangers from a message board. In my line of work (cop), I see the worst in people most the time and it does taint one's perception of people. Right now that bubble has been burst and you have all reminded me that there are good, caring people out there. The strangest part of all this is the timing. This guitar was stolen and not heard from for 7 years. It happens to land in the lap of a forum member who casually knows the real owner, and the original owner just happens to be in port locally (US NAVY) for a week where the guitar has surfaced? Wow, somebody get me to Vegas quick!!! And now on to the best part. Forumla73 and I were able to meet up today in person and he now has his guitar back. PICS!!! The evidence, LOL, I couldn't help myself (Queue Peaches and Herb )….. ♫ reunited and it feels so good ♫

kevinbower1959 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Great story, does so much to restore faith in honesty, human nature and the simple act of just doing what's right. Kudos to all involved, stories like this make my day.Edited to add - if you can pm me a PayPal address, I'll toss in my few bucks.
Jason01 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Is there any way too keep tracing it back and maybe figure out who stole it in the first place? It sounded like he lost a number of other guitars as well in that heist. If this one surfaced the others have gotta be out there as well. I love hearing stories like this, the HFC is the best place on the internet!
