Buggered 82 Special at Elderly, $485

My opinion is that if there are too many problems/issues to justify buying then fixing, that is FUBAR. I concede that it is debatable whether this particular instrument meets that threshold. If I owned this guitar already and then I broke the headstock there is no question that I would have her repaired.

The thing I like most is that Chris described it as Buggered.

Theres hope for you all yet.

I think it would be a good deal at that price if there were no headstock repair.

I bought a lightly-flamed top cherry red '82 Special w/ aftermarket Kahler for $450, sold it to Scottcrud for $450 (if memory serves). That one didn't have the repaired headstock break.

Murkat Can Fix That! :) .............I have bought several guitars from Elderly and they are great to deal with...............but even at this price it would take someone with major repair/restoration knowledge and a lot of labor time to make it whole again...........to anyone else interested just get it up and running and play it as is. price?................"TREE FIFTY" ;)

Certainly it would be more desirable at a lower price, but this is the new custom order, folks: a damn near destroyed old Hamer that you can have resurrected to your vision and specs by murkat and/or Stike.

I agree this is the new path to a custom order. Given the price differential between a beat up Hamer and one in good condition is relatively small (couple hundred bucks), I'd be inclined to start with something nicer.

Whew! Doesn't pass the rules test.

Rule #1. Next Hamer =sustain block bridge.

Hbom..................I'll try to remember that rule NEXT time. :) .................Till then this guitar[1979 Hamer Sunburst Black and B&C] which also has the Kahler is one of the best guitars I have ever had the pleasure of owning.............I play it everyday since buying it.And although it does have a Kahler [Although it is locked and won't be used] [And a 1979 Dimarzio X2N in the Brdige] it has ALOT going for it.A great year,[1979 Holmes era Hamer],a great neck [1 piece med C profile w/o any issues like twists or bowing or warping, humps on the fingerboard...............or breaks with the original frets showing VERY little wear and the tuners are Grover "BULLSEYE"] Dimarzio PUPs [Neck Dimarzio is perfect just a amazing PUP and the DiMarzio bridge PUP though not original to the guitar is from the same year as the guitar [79] and this one DOES sound really good to me.The color [ I looked forever for the most "Unburst" Hamer Sunburst............ "Opaque Black" And the case[ It is from another year of Hamer production but its in great shape and fits the guitar like a glove. In the case of buying this one I didn't want to lose it even though it has some issues from a pure collectibility standpoint. I think the old saying "Can't see the forest for the trees" applies to my guitar.6zyo1l.jpg

Great minds think alike, Muse.

And sometimes, so do you and I.

Agree with Muse and Kiz.

I'm going down that path now for my all time ultmate Hamer guitar, actually.

don't see the attraction when you can but a non buggered up one for $750.

The attraction stems from the desire to customize/modify a Hamer to make it unique, but you don't want to "ruin" one that is in good condition.

That said (as Muse already pointed out) the price on this one is a little high, even for that.

That IS an asking price, however. I'm sure an interested party could grab it for a bit less.

Elderly doesn't let you haggle in regards to pricing. The only exception to that is when it's a consignment item. They'll call the owner and submit your bid to them.
