rj2858 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Sorry to see that and I feel your pain.Happened to me back in '04 or '05 on a '79 dot neck Sunburst, unfortunately before I knew about the HFC and that it was repairable by the two sources previously mentioned. I sent mine back and got a full refund, I hope that is an opton for you, should you choose not to repair.
Boomerang~Junkie Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 That is a damn shame. It simply sucks. ....BJ is right, send it to Murkat or BCR Greg for a fix. I feel for you.YES - sorry Jay, I didn't intentionally leave you out of my post. You were one of the "couple" to which I was referring. Also extremely talented.
rj2858 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Out of curiosity, was all that white paper waded up tightly beneath the headstock? I've received a couple guitars where I felt quite lucky there wasn't damage resulting from over-packing in that area.^^^THIS!The '79 that I received with a break just like the one pictured was caused (IMO) because the headstock had no room underneath it, and when the box was bounced around during its trip, it was like it got a whack on the back of the head.
Hamerica Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Sorry to see it did not arrive safely. Same here. I was enjoying this thread. Best luck on the repair!Hamerica
mrjamiam Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Ouch! Bad luck! Best wishes in getting it remedied.
hanspanzer Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Progress! I found a guy here in Norway that seems to be THE guy on repairs like this. I also ran in to this guy at a festival here i Norway this summer as he had a stand there doing setup and minor repairs for the artists. He did an excellent job on my Korina Standard. Some of his previous work: I`m the sexy one at the left, our singer in the middle. Mr. Østgård right,
hanspanzer Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Oh, I almost forgot; New Pickups! I`ve read some good reviews over at the MLP-forum, so I ordered a set of Sigils. I`m also in touch with Josh/Shlabotnik and he`s making me a set after he`s finished making pickups for the (my ) Shishkovs.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 So VERY sorry to see this and that is every guitar players nightmare! I bought a Black 79 Hamer Sunburst late last year and I remember telling the seller PLEASE nothing in the case but just the guitar............. nothing in the case pocket and absolutely do not put anything under the headstock area. The guitar traveled 1200 miles and got here in perfect condition. Looks like yours will be on the road to recovery soon Very pretty guitar! Beautiful top!
bubs_42 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Man I've been there... TWICE! Glad to see you have it going back together.
Disturber Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 That looks great. Only good thing about it is that the logo remained intact, so you don¨t have to replace it. It will be like new when it's done.It happened to me two years ago. Total ANGST. http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/61460-another-broken-headstock/?hl=neck
Steve Haynie Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Now that you can play it, how do you like your Sunburst?
hanspanzer Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 Things are moving on. Went to do a gig in Oslo, our capital and also the home of Mr. Østgård, the luthier who also delivered it to my hotel free of charge. I`m shure I`ve picked the right guy for this job. Brought some tools with me and transformed my hotel room to a work shop planning to change the pickups, electronics and do a set up. Things I`ve learned so far: 1: This guitar is routed for short legs humbuckers. I bought long legs. 2: Short shaft pots are too short and long shafts are too long. The potmeter that still was in the guitar were somewhere in the middle length wise. So here I am, looking for new pickups and potmeters I didn`t knew existed.
atomicwash Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 It will be SO worth the wait when you have it ready to rock!
hanspanzer Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 It`s been a long and bumpy road but finally she`s ready for some good ol`rock n`roll!
Boomerang~Junkie Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 It looks great - kick ass! All is good in the world.
