Yeah, he's definitely at his best playing far away from a mic.   

His tone is weird in the video though, the lead stuff sounds good but when he's playing chords it's not a good sound to me.

That Standard is/was owned by an HFC’er.  Dave Kenney had it for sale at his shop in 1990.  I called up, agreed on a price and sent him a check, which was done regularly back then.  During the two or three days it took my check to get there, one of the sales doods took the “sold” tag off and sold it to a walk-in customer.  I was PISSED, but Dave felt badly and gave me a smoking deal on a custom ordered Standard at a time when they really weren’t building them.  The original Charlie Standard actually had a real PAF and a Patent# added at some point, and Dave pulled those and put the DiMarzios back in the guitar.  It has a PERFECT burst, in my opinion.

Can you clearify? Did it have an original PAF in it from the factory? And did Dave put after market Dimarzio's back in, or did it have original Dimarzio's when it left the factory, and Dave put them back in?

November 27, 2021 was the last show Foghat played that year.  According to Wikipedia, on January 21 of 2022 it was announced by Foghat that Charlie let them know he wanted to leave.

The PAFs were not original from the factory.  I’m the VG ad, Dave gave a price with and without the PAFs.  The original DiMarzios were in the case, and he’d swap them out for $400 less if somebody didn’t want the PAFs.

Man, I loved Ted BITD.  From his first album to the black "Nugent" album, I still listen to them all.

Ted was great when I was growing up.   I started watching other Midnight Special acts and ran across this one.  I forgot about this band (I actually never knew their name until now).  A standing ovation for yodeling is impressive.  There were a number of progressive bands with a goofy vibe back then.

I was taught to never give a standing ovation for anything the than the very best, ever.  Lots of audiences have looked at me with scorn since, as I tried to adhere to that standard.  Whatever. That Hocus Pocus performance certainly warrants a prolonged standing appreciation, however.  I've seen it on YouTube before, but it remains incredible, fantastic, strange, compelling, and amazing.  The Dutch can Rock, even while yodeling. Awesome.

That is Charlie Huhn playing that Standard. He replaced Derek  St. Holmes  and went on to form a band called Victory and later the revamped Foghat.  I have not seen him playing that Standard since he was in Nugent.

Yeah, it wasn't Charlie's.  I spoke directly to him in front of his old home on Belchase Court in DeBary Florida.  He said that his Hamer is in it's case in Michigan at one of his lifelong friend's house.  He sold it to him.  

The guitar mentioned here was sold by Dave Kenney and the "story" did travel with it until I talked to Charlie.  He knows Dave, but never sold him a guitar.  And certainly not his Standard.  

I have 0221 which is the guitar in question.  Don't know where it came from, but it's killer.  Pickups are period correct, but not original.  Don't know about the pots as I've never taken it apart.  Knobs are repro.  I think I have the black barrels in the case, but it's too far in the "vault" for me to check on a whim.
