  2. Being from the Dakota's and April Wine from Canada there was lot's of opportunity to see them in bars ballrooms etc. Same with Rush. Doing it Right was on the setlist continuously in every band I played in. As was Working Man from Rush. Many great acts from our northern neighbors.

  3. They were a bucket list band for me when they still had several original or classic era members left, but like so many bands I'm sure the current lineup plays the music competently but they just aren't THE guys, so I no longer have any desire to see them. I only have a few albums, but I love the ones I have. Nature of the Beast is (to me) their best, but I remember when I got Power Play. The first single from it, Enough Is Enough was so hooky I played it over and over incessantly in my room, and not exactly quietly. My dad finally came in one day after hearing it one too many times and said "Enough IS enough!"

  4. She is definitely not a fan! I play in church. Throwing a pick would be considered... well... bad form... 🙃

  5. Shouldn't vintage gear 'experts' at least know what year it was built? Google it for fuck's sake.

  6. I went for it. I do have enough guitars, and I still have to drive from Atlanta to Oxford, MS, after landing. Getting some sleep on the way back means making that trip day of rather than spending a couple hundred bucks on getting a room in Atlanta due to be too exhausted to drive another five hours.

  7. I have long since settled on V-Picks, or sometimes Gravity. They are harder to drop or lose. Price may have something to do with being careful.🤔 That little 5th pocket on blue jeans seems to be a pretty secure place to keep one at hand.

  8. As a Blue Chip user, I manage to no longer lose my picks. It's like sunglasses, the cheapies disappear in weeks/months, the pricey ones stay with me until they are too scratched to use anymore.

  9. I just flew trans-Atlantic on a United 777 in cattle class as befits my status and overall being. Going forward from my seats, you passed Economy Premium, which didn't appear very different but was farther forward, then Premium Plus which did look like a better seat with maybe a touch more room, and then Polaris Business class, which was pods with little fridges and better entertainment and only half the seating density of economy. Then you exit the aircraft without defiling with your presence the first class seating further forward, which I can only imagine employs harem girls with palm fronds and bunches of grapes.

  10. Ron Thorn makes a staple P-90 that is really great too. I might know where a used set could be had...almost half the price of new.

  11. do you loose during a year? Me: a lot… ETA: I know it is the wrong brand. But then it is checkerboard…

  14. Just looking at this, interestingly, at 1:08, there's a closeup of Glenn's black Phantom and he's got some Duncan actives in that instead of the EMGs.

  15. I've gotten upgraded to comfort+ a couple of times on international flights. I could give a rip domestically, but that 4 inches or whatever really adds up over eight hours of throbbing, hot international travel. But I just can't sleep on a plane. Even if I take meds, I end up too tired to read and too awake to sleep beyond sometimes entering this very disconcerting liminal space where I keep thinking about falling through the sky. And Geoff Tate is there smiling next to me. Also disconcerting. No bueno. I'm hoping that if I can lay down I can actually knock out for a few hours. Plus, I'm flying with a partscaster, so having the guaranteed closet access is worth at least a couple of Benjamins to me. The flight over, one of the attendants had just bought his son a guitar and made a point to put it in the Delta One cabin even though I was in economy (actually the first time in years flying felt like how it was pre-9/11). I wasn't sure if I'd get that lucky again, but at least I don't have to worry about it now.

  19. I rarely ever lose picks anymore. At 2.75mm, these V-Picks small pointed's are more a challenge to keep a sharp point on 'em than to lose 'em.

  20. I had and lost two Blue Chip picks. One was lifted from and Open Mic music stand. Nothing so expensive for me any more.

  21. Longest I recall was Chicago to Hong Kong, 16 hours. The normal route was first to Tokyo then Hong Kong. The layover was not long but still tough to deplane and go through security before boarding and another 4 hours. Business class, fortunately. Have also gone to Thailand and Singapore, another 7 or so hours from Narita or Seoul layover.

  26. It is amazing listening how in sync those two were especially when you can see they're playing and voicing the chords exactly the same.

  27. I generally keep a Jazz III (red only, please) in my pocket and am oddly able to keep up with it until the edges are worn sufficiently to throw it away. I can't recall the last time I lost a pick.

  28. I noticed with Carter’s end with norms they have the founders still there so if people don’t know, they’ll think that they’re still in charge or something. And there’s something about the guy in the video with Norm I didn’t care for.

  29. I haven't flown much but both times I flew to LA from central florida I did Delta Comfort+. not too much more than other seats but definitely more comfortable and free drinks and snacks. Not as nice as first class but a good compromise. One really nice part is getting on sooner and getting off quicker and knowing you will have overhead space for your carryon.

  32. Ha! I was at this concert! Nassau, NY 12123, is just over the border from Tanglewood. We chased the band’s limo back to the hotel and my girlfriend accosted the drummer for his sweaty towel. Ah. Yute.

  35. Talking to the GF about getting back to the States after this study abroad trip I lead ends. Me - "The plane ride from Naples to Atlanta is 11.5 hours, and an upgrade to Delta One is $1400. That's something like $120 an hour, but maybe I could actually sleep for once." Her - "Or you could look at it as the price of one guitar, and you certainly buy enough of those every year." Me - "You know far too much these days about how expensive my hobbies are."

  38. I have slightly tweaked Ultimates in my Studio Custom. RS Guitarworks recently did some work on the guitar and readjusted the height and screws, it really screams. Some use the Charlotte set, a bit hotter. I am too lazy to do more swapping (and I like what I currently have) but would like to check out other pickups. @Jeff R has interesting offerings. RS has their own pickups. Anyone have comparisons to share?

  39. Hi Folks, After beating my head against the wall trying to fix a known migration bug effecting attachments in IPS for more than 20 hours. I decided to cut my losses, purchased, installed Xenforo and migrated all of our current data to it. It took a while but its been a SUCCESS and attachments work in the new forum! I'm in the process of validating the content and configuration with the help of Chris Matthes and Kiz. Once that is complete, I will open it up to everyone in parallel to the current board for further testing. Once we confirm its all good hopefully a few days. I will reimport the data from the current forum and swtich us over to the new one. All your ids and log in information and groups (supporter) should work in the new forum. Thanks all for the patience. Its been a journey but I can see the end in sight!

  40. I still dig April Wine. Check out this take on King Crimson- And then there's the 3 way jam in Roller that is as tasty as it gets, in my humble opinion.

  41. The first song I ever played and sang in my first band was Get Ready by April Wine. There are at least thirty really good songs on the albums I bought. Myles was one of my favorite singers and he was a sneaky good guitar player. Don't make me make a list...
