  1. Folks watching this will possibly know that the black one is #0204 which I bought new in 1979. It's mad to think that this was the guitar Andy stood looking up at during the first 1980's incarnation of Hell when he was a just a kid. He was a super-fan and it was the band's frontman (Dave Halliday) who first taught Andy to play guitar. It's delightful that after its long history, it's finally in Andy's hands where it will remain forever. I can't possibly think of a better custodian; In other news - Paddy Watters is one of the nicest guys I ever met and it's great to see him in this role. He was the guitar tech for Hell also, and we had some great times together. He's a damn fine player, too. When the band folded and I sold up - Paddy bought my Kemper. And finally - a fun fact. It's pretty well-known that I'm a (now-retired) carpenter. When Andy first started working with Judas Priest, he called me and asked for some woodworking-related help. The rack case seen in the video was originally built for a pair of 5150's and Andy's Gower-hotrodded Marshalls were too tall to fit. So I split the heads in half vertically, took a slice out, and spliced the two halves back together. If you look at them - you'll see that they're quite a chunk shorter than regular JCM800's. I defy anyone to spot the joins ........ ☺️ Best wishes to everyone !!

  2. spotted a clean Marshall 1960vintage 412 for a good price, it had been there long enough that I was able to get if for a 'very good can't pass it up' price, and got a 24hr return in case the speakers were wrong or blown up. I was lucky: speakers are the Marshall G12 Vintage by Celestion (date codes indicate '95), and in good shape. I should flip it, but it sure looks good under my old 2204. I can attach photos again! thanks Dave!

  4. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the guitar market sucks right now. I bought this guitar for less than two grand. It's killer. I've never had one. It looks like a really killer guitar from Hamer back "in the day"...

  5. I took a chance and bought this one from Amazon and it's friggin' awesome! Great deal, great quality board. For an extra $20 you can get it with a power supply. https://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Aluminum-Effect-Pedalboard-19-8x11-5/dp/B083TF3JF2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa

  7. I'm down to one guitar [ Non Hamer guitar] and 2 amps..............no effects. At age 73 less is more for me. Like Vince Gil said..................you only need one guitar to make music. Actually I believe it was his wife that told him that.

  9. My guitar broke a string, so I bought a new guitar. Someone told me you can just change the string. I wish they’d mentioned that about 48 guitars ago.

  11. Cool post, thanks for sharing... now I'm all excited about trying the Saint Helens guitar bridges on some of my guitars 👍 Products https://share.google/tOeAUP5XDQy4OM5tl

  12. Congrats! From what Ive seen online the cleans are spectacular on the Raleigh. Cool amp. Wouldn’t mind having one myself. Carr has a newer 5-watt “Trail Rider” model (with reverb & attenuator) which looks really cool as well, but it’s 3K.

  13. My wife used to give me a hard time about it. "Why do you need so many guitars? "Why do you need so many shoes and handbags?" "The shoes and handbags don't cost nearly as much as your guitars!" "Can you sell you shoes and handbags for a profit when you're done with them?" That usually ended the discourse.

  15. About a year and a half ago, I decided to take the plunge and order a new Machete. I spec'd it out with a single Muy Grande pickup, stainless frets on an ebony board with star inlays. Set neck construction. Trans purple (it is more of a dark purple in person, I just can't get it to photograph right). It really is a great instrument for those who were wondering about the quality of the new Robin's. Thrilled to be able to spec out my favorite guitar. It was worth the wait for me.

  16. Nothing thumps like a 4x12. I miss my Bogner cab. That thing was a beastie.

  19. Thanks for chiming in! Cool story about Andy during the early years and how that guitar ended up with him after it all. And I just went back and looked at the heads. They are noticeable shorter. 😂 I totally didn’t notice that before!

  25. I'm not aware of any instance where a guitar has been held up by US Customs (or one of the carriers) due to an undisclosed CITES/Brazilian RW issue. I'm not suggesting that anyone should just ship or receive known Braz across international borders, but whether or not a guitar has it or not is not always 100% clear. It's only if the declared value is over $2,500 that a Lacey Form (declaration of all plant material) is generally asked for. And even then, I've been advised by customs clearing agents to just do the best you can in identifying all the different materials.

  26. I like ice cream, pretty much all flavors. I can't image only eating one flavor for the rest of my life (unless it was orange pineapple - maybe). Teles are orange pineapple to me, but I still enjoy Hamers, Les Pauls, Strats, and even basses lol. of course, if you are lactose-intolerant then this analogy probably doesn't work for you.

  27. I have noted information that in case it dies or glitches 😀 But seriously, tell him "good job" I really like it! Also I was basically gifted a Bugera V5 a couple of days ago. I realize it may not be comparable to the Carr except that both are small low-watt amps. Had that happened a week earlier I would not have gotten the Carr. To be clear, I'm glad it worked out that way! Studio apt w/thin walls and now THREE tube amps to choose from! 🧠

  31. Put me down as being into the Hollywood Vampires because of Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. 50 years ago who could have predicted them being in a band together?

  32. Took me ten solid minutes of Googling to find out who was fronting this effort: Glen Wise. He's not on the HV website, not in the YouTube description. You'd think someone who could do such a capable job of Lemmy's vocal while also doing a capable job of playing his bass part would be at least mentioned. Or maybe I missed it and it was there all the while. At any rate, the song that introduced me to Motörhead when they played it on "The Young Ones" - great job!
