burningyen Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Interesting that they decided to go with a maple neck on this one. I wonder why they didn't just go with a swamp ash back.
hamerhead Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 (Homer voice) Mmmmmmm....factory Sustain Block............. Damn! Life IS good!
BCR Greg Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Just got an email from Jol with a few tasty pics, including this one..... Pretty.
elduave Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 It's on the Hamer site now:Talladega
cmatthes Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 The Hamer site is now saying that the Retail/List is $3,100? Is that a typo? I thought it was listing at $3,800. If it's $3,100, that's a NO BRAINER! Hamer USA proudly presents the Talladega. Designed by Hamer design ‘Guru’ Jol Dantzig, the high performance Talladega breaks all the rules and rewrites the record books on tone. Its 25 ½” scale maple neck and rosewood fingerboard provide articulate highs, while the chambered mahogany body with “string through” sustain block bridge delivers endless sustain. Other features include a hand-carved figured maple top, bound with Italian ivoroid and custom-designed single coil pickups created by Seymour Duncan and Jol Dantzig. Available in Amber Burst finish. Retail: $3,100 including GC4-0 hard shell case. December 21, 2006 HAMER USA INTRODUCES THE TALLADEGA The Talladega
Mike_C Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 yea at $3,100 list you could afford some custom options. Very cool news indeed. Also love the idea of a Hamer with a V shaped neck.

MCChris Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 It's a typo, believe me.I'm sure the resident lawyers are intent on making Hamer honor it.
rmahurin Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 First thing it reminded me of; Good to see a sustain block back in the official lineup.
Mike_C Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 First thing I thought was archtop version of a TLE or a T-51
edgar_allan_poe Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 IMHO it doesn't look anything like a Roxie...It looks like a TLE. The first thing I thought of was this... The ergonomics of this body style are spectacular. It is an amazingly comfortable guitar to play live. This new model has me *very* excited. I can see solid swamp ash, with a tummy cut in my immediate future. This is the model I have been waiting for..Hamer scored bigt ime IMHO.
edgar_allan_poe Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Scott Lentz also has a model like this.
Mobster Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Point of information, Poe, if you don't mind...That's not a Lentz, that's an Ian Anderson-he works for Scott, but these are made by him only and they don't have anything to do with Scott. It's just a launching pad of sorts for his own company.I've got some very neat info an that model that would probably interest you a lot.
Brewmaster Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Ben Chafin also makes something very similar with tons of options. Look at the Ember modelBen is my guitar tech these days. Great guy who built the Dean Customs for a while. Ben Chafin Ember It doesn't matter to me as all of these guitars are well out of my $$$ range.

I think he made a Flying V as well and with a great response.
stobro Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Kinda reminds me of a Peavey Odyssey from the early '90s.
seeker Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Very interesting. Wonder if they'd make it thicker too. LOL>
Guest Meshuggah Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Yup. I'd want buckers and Tone Pros and a belly cut. Oh wait... Can I also get a Baker-ish neck carve?
Disturber Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I wonder if they would do it with a one piece maple top like the old Sunbursts, and not the ordinary bookmatch. That would look stylish.
serial Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 The one piece maple tops won't happen I'm sure, especially since the old ones were just one piece because they were maple veneers. I can't imagine what a single piece premium flame top would run!

I can't imagine what a single piece premium flame top would run!Pheonix ordered a solid quilted maple Monaco SuperPro, so they WILL do it, if'n ya wanna pay...
