specialk Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 She's a beauty either way, but I've always been a sucker for tort. Plus, going with the tort makes your life easier. If you go with white, you'd have to change the hardware and knobs to black, which would be a cool idea too.As for the hole, leave it. When you wind up selling the guitar you can claim the headstock is "ported and weight-relieved".
BlueRedWhite Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 This one is difficult, but i have to go with the tort...even if i'm not a fan of pickguards sorry Mitch
Gabe Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I voted white, though both colours look great. Some time ago I had a Daytona in this colour (agree with Punkavenger that it is a bit too grey) with a tortoise pickguard, then I bought a white pearloid for it, which of course did not fit. Also great pickup selection, Kinmans rule. Gabe
Armitage Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 If it was me, it'd be white... I've never been a tort fan.
jwhitcomb3 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 As a law student, I have to go with torts.-Jonathan
Lockbody Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I hate tort on just about everything... Everything except that guitar. I like it, and can't explain it other than it looks good.
atquinn Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 As a law student, I have to go with torts. -Jonathan
Peter Graves Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Before I opine on Feynman's quandry, being a new guy, I think it's best I introduce myself. My name is Pete and I own black guitars, specifically a '97 Les Paul Standard and an '05 Parker Fly Deluxe. One of these days I'll find it in myself to get a Hamer Standard (black of course with a white pickguard). One of these days. That said, tort. The white doesn't match with the other white on the guitar. That's my opinion, I could be wrong.
Rhys Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 White, though I'd choose ANY colour over tort - I fucking HATE tort!!!I'd rather have my pickups held in place with dogshit than have a tort pickguard.
velorush Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Tort just rocks, of course: But must confess, when I get kind of tired of the tort I have a three-ply mint green guard I stick on there for a while. I usually go back to the tort after a few months.
murkat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I dont do tort. looks cheap. looks like a cheap mod. "Hey everybody, look at my modded guitar...." "A tort pickguard! " wow..... White rules.

bubs_42 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I'd go with the tort.. Tell me when you go back to tort so I can just keep copying you... DOH... Maybe I already have... I actually have a White Pearl Guard on it now.
velorush Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Holy shit, I thought that was my Daytona!'97 Roadhouse Strat (Am Std with Texas Special pups) - they all came stock with either tort or white mother of toilet seat guards.
sw686blue Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Holy shit, I thought that was my Daytona! '97 Roadhouse Strat (Am Std with Texas Special pups) - they all came stock with either tort or white mother of toilet seat guards. Very cool! Here's mine: Sorry for the derail Mitch, but TORT ROCKS!!!!

Here's mine: Sorry for the derail Mitch, but TORT ROCKS!!!! Also very cool! If I were anywhere near Canada it'd be great to try them out side by side (I know, I know, the Hamer MUST be superior - but I DO like my Fender ) and also sorry, Mitch, for the derail, but repetition is key to learning basic life principles: multiplication tables, abbreviations in the periodic table, the fact that TORT ROCKS! etc.
Punkavenger Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 mmmmm, tort Holy shit, I thought that was my Daytona! '97 Roadhouse Strat (Am Std with Texas Special pups) - they all came stock with either tort or white mother of toilet seat guards. Very cool! Here's mine: Sorry for the derail Mitch, but TORT ROCKS!!!! I could justify having two Daytona's if that was the second one... killer!
HAMERMAN Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 White pearloid of course.+1 Pearloid almost always looks good to me. That one might even look nice with red or blue pearloid.
