kizanski Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 It's pretty clean. It could very well meet that minimum bid and beyond.
Disturber Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 A clean natural one went to someone here some time ago for that starting price. With non original pups. After rehearsing with my natural one last night I say they are more than worth it. edit for spelling like a drunk on speed.
murkat Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 It's pretty clean. It could very well meet that minimum bid and beyond.no doubt.
Pieman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 What's with "it has little power" and this from a guy who has been collecting and selling guitars for 50 years?
serial Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 He collects alot of junk judging from his other auctions. The Standard (a 79) is the one exception out of 100+ auctions.
RichRS6 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Nice.More likely to be a 79 than a 78 though judging by the S/N database here.Serial has already spotted that though. Doh !
murkat Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Brazilion? Isn't that unlikely?not un common for that period of time.wood is/ was wood. Manufactor's looked at the best buy, price point, cheapest they could source.Braz was not hype back then as well as a lot of guitar associated stuff.
hamerhead Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 what, nobody's hit the BIN yet? At my house, hitting that BIN button is the same as hitting the 'I-want-a-divorce' button. Close, but not quite.
kizanski Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 At my house, hitting that BIN button is the same as hitting the 'I-want-a-divorce' button. Close, but not quite.lol - it hasn't worked here yet.So, you're telling me that if you didn't hit the BIN, but bid, let's say $8,000, and won the guitar for $7,500, you'd be in good standing with the Missus?
cmatthes Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Well - you've got to tack on the attorney's take...
hamerhead Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Pretty sure either way somebody else gets all my sh!t.
LordOfTheThighs Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Nice looking Standard. A good north of my financial means.Hope somebody here scores it for the home team.
ScubaMarket Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Anybody know the history on 0281? It sure aint a 78' I had #0192 (79') and Dave Hlubek had 0189 that now belongs to Gene Saw Dave playing a few weeks ago and talked with him a while
Hamerica Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I knew Scuba would be the one on this. I don't anything about the specific history of this one. From the pictures, it does look clean and someone is going to be happy with the purchase. Nice pick of you and Dave. Best wishes, Hamerica
ScubaMarket Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Thanks Bro. It does look good... I Just listed my 2005 to fill in some of the $$ holes if it go's through. Dave can still kick ass He was playing with some of the Jax folks here .
Hamer Dave Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 This is a sweet looking guitar, and hope to one day have one of these earlier standards. That said, isn't this quite pricey if '79, or '80? Hamer made quite a few guitars by this time. I suppose I'd expect this(maybe not even this high) on something pre 1978, or in their earlier years of production. I feel at times the 4 digit serial gives impression these are the first guitars made, and thus in an earlier time then what they really are, if '79-'80.
RichRS6 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I noticed that the heads of the screws were somewhat chewed up too which could indicate that the tuners have been removed and replaced. That would tie up with a headstock break??Might not be, just saying.................
murkat Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I am not seeing a break, but the finish is a lil rough, not so buffed out,the nut is not OEM.
rj2858 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 It looks like if may have been oversprayed to fix a break/crack running along the length of the tuner holes. It's not clear from the front but you can see the crack pretty well in this shot: eta: If you click the image and check it out full size, you can clearly see the crack continuing between the tuners for low E and A, and A and D. If you check the close up of the serial in the auction, the crack can be see between the remaining tuners. What you're hi-liting is not a crack, the headstock is built that way, you're seeing a seam. Both of my 4 digits were exactly the same. A little straight for a crack, dontcha think?
