bry4321 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Cover with pickguard? Put in a _____ ? Fill with wood/bondo? ?
Steve Haynie Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Pickguard holes are already there. Cover the hole. If you are really worried about it, a competent repairman can route square edges on the hole, put in some wood, and reroute for a pickup. The cost of refinishing the guitar is where your real expense will be. If you cannot find a pickguard you can always use a Vince Neil sticker.
Hbom Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Cover it with a chrome P90 cover and use it to stash your pot.
hamerhead Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Yep - pickguard. Something exotic, like clear.
beezerboy Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 sorry but that neck area looks weak to me. unless someone with the expertise can convince me otherwise, I would glue in some wood for structural reinforcement first.
Dave Scepter Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 If it were mine, I would route it out to a workable shape, then trace shape on paper to transfer to wood to use to fill, if you're super careful/patient "and skilled" no filler would be needed... just glue & saw dust... then find or make a pickguard for her... good luck with that awesome project 🤘
Saul Goodman Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Drill holes into the neck heel for maple rods extended into the damage area and fill with resin. Sand and paint. That's if there is a stability issue. If not, put a small creature in there like Phil X.
bsteff666 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 You could put your weed in there…or a snack for later…or an action figure. I had this problem once, and I went with Ultraman. But I have a pickguard on standby in case I get tired of him.
JGale Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I like the last suggestion best! Call Greg Platzer.
gorch Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Build in flickering lights connected to the bridge pickup. So, it flickers to your playing. Use different colors for different frequency ranges. Kind of like a light organ.
Disturber Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I would route is clean. Fill it with a nice piece of mahogany. And cover it with a pick guard. Would make one hell of a players guitar.

Nah. That's a typical neck joint on one of those. It's still stronger than some SGs!
beezerboy Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 so.... am I wrong, but don't the two holes (inside the big hole) go all the way through?

I own and have made 'bucker guitars, but blow the picture up... I think I can see the background carpet through the holes. guess we could ask Mr. 4321
bry4321 Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 It does not go all the way through so I’ve got that going for me
