In “as wired from the factory” stock form position 2 on a Centaura (with passive pickups) was not wired to be hum cancelling (you’re getting both coils of the JB mixed with the SSL-1 middle). If you’re handy with a soldering iron you could easily connect the red and white wires from the humbucker to the position 3 lug on the other side of the 5-way blade switch and run a ground wire from the common lug on that same side of the switch to a volume or tone pot casing and you’ll have hum cancelling in position 2.4 points

Exactly why I bought my 90's Epiphone SG-70 which was the early forerunner of those models. Super high build quality, great neck profile, evenly matched alnico humbuckers, at 7.4 each, light 6 lbs. Epiphone SG-70 Ebony – Chicago Music Exchange4 points

Ok next up a bunch of Tele Parts. I love Telecasters, but I have what I need. So like the rest of my FS post I’m just cutting things loose, and letting go. 2 MIJ Allparts Tele Necks. 21 Fret C shape (Medium C) slightly bigger than the 80’s reissue necks, more close to the mid later 90’s on. Both necks are the same shape/carve. I purchased them through Doom Bloom, where they were aged and shipped to me for a hefty sum of $300 each. every pickguard that I have that will fit 21 fret Telecasters. Also all the hardware off of a 1986 Telecaster Reissue that I had stashed away. The tunning pegs are on the one neck. the whole lot for a sub HFC throw back price of SOLD!! https://www.flickr.com/gp/203174883@N08/7Z4942F6Y03 points

His name is Rick NELSON and he played them HAMMER gittars for a looooong time. I have never seen them. I just did a search and it seems they have not played a public show here in Stockholm since 1979. According to @crunchee's list above they did a tv broadcast here on october 22nd 1990 in support for the Busted album. I wish I had been there. 😞 They are a band that I still would love to see live.3 points

I got bad news for a lot of you guys. Back when we did the first of the Chicago/ Paul Hamer events, I won the award for youngest member in attendance. Since then I passed over the hill and I can see 50 from where I’m standing. I didn't’ see CT for the first time until 96/97 because well, I was finally old enough to drive myself to the venue. LOL 😂3 points

I'd would love to be able to take this test. Please send me a five neck guitar in the next 5 years so once I reach 70 I can take the test.... If I fail I hope I prop it up and play the top guitar instead.... 😀3 points

2001 Korina Artist P90. I've been looking for one of these for a while at a reasonable price to go with my 25th Anniversary with humbuckers, and finally found one today at the Atlanta Vintage Guitar Show. All original, Except the tuners maybe. They are Schallers, but I thought these came with Grover's, really good original case, and it rocks. it just needed some good cleaning and a set-up. I have now added another keeper to the collection2 points

Picked this GK stuff up off FB marketplace, super clean and very very affordable, got the head/cab and speaker cable for four fitty. GK MB Fusion 500 head, quite small/lightweight and three 12ax7s. Neo 212ii cabinet. It's so clean, I gave my moderately used 212 Neo (gen1) cab to a friend. I think the Neo212 ii is even lighter than the gen 1 neo212, I can't really carry it with one hand, but I can hold it with one hand while I open up the car hatch. Imo, these 212s sound every bit as good as my old Eden 410xlt at about half the weight (410xlt was 98 pounds iirc), and the tweeters don't blow when you turn the amp on like with the Edens. I ended up with most of the tone controls mostly straight up, sounds really good. I was going to run the FlyRig xlr to the house, but running it into the GK resulted in some extra noise, so I ran the GK xlr to the house and then the tuner out from the GK to the FlyRig, - only using the FlyRig as a tuner. The IYV bass is a winner, but I will need to replace the volume knob/switch, because there's still a 'whoosh/whump' when turning the volume knob up when 'active', but until then I'm quite happy with it passive for now, no volume knob noise on passive. I loaned it to a friend who plays in a couple of the casino cover bands, he was quite impressed, he might be ordering one for a travel bass. It looks like the stacked volume knob/switch is a common part, very cheap off ebay.2 points

So I went down that rabbit hole again. I found a great playing LP locally, put on my descending gear, my great grandfather’s mining helmet, and all the rope I could find. This is great feeling and playing LP, I pulled all the junk pots, grounding plate out and Handwired it with an RS Vintage wiring harness, including the women cap on the neck pickup. I had my friend Josh Thompson over at Josh’s Guitar Shop, go over the whole guitar. Frets, nut, and he made it play great for sure. Then tasked my other Josh, Mr Gravelin to wind me a set of pickups for me. Nice clear PAFs to get things through a lower wattage amp without murdering the front end. Well I’ve sworn off two things, Stratocasters and now Les Pauls. It’s just not what my ear wants to hear. I’m definitely a Tele / SG guy. Conition: Plays and sounds great, the guitar is not a closet queen, someone played this one. The most notable finish is the upper bout. The former owner played with bracelets so the finish is hazy, and textured in that area. Other than that just little marks from being played. neck carve is a nice full c, just a perfect handful. weight: low to mid 8lbs. Pretty much the perfect weight. Comes with a brand new SKB Case. $1700 PayPal and shipping. Included. https://www.flickr.com/gp/203174883@N08/n179FBVAe0 video of upper bout. Hard to photograph.2 points

I've had a couple of the older Epis, not very impressive imo. I've also had a couple of recent builds, probably 4 years old or less: LP Custom, Lucille, and 'goldtop' w p90s (black, which was an option), those recent builds were very nice, much better than the older ones as I recall.2 points

Nope. Last one went on my Shishkov. And the MannMade bridges are really close to what I did, so I think whatever issue being had would be the same. It's kinda hard to tell from the picture exactly what's going on. Is it spacing? The string spacing is a bit all over the board, depending on where the bridge was made. Not a huge difference between them, but they did vary. Mounting holes? Dave's fix nailed it. But if the mounting holes line up, it should work. Put it on and try it. The string-through-the-body holes don't have to align perfectly for the bridge to work. The bridge on my '81 Special had .025" difference (about 1/8" overall) between the string-through holes and the intonation screw holes, effectively mis-aligning the saddles. Worked fine. We need more info.2 points

If I hadn't just bought a Hamer Special I may be interested in this. I may still be.1 point

Well it sounded good, so I bought it. Then I tore it down, and just lost interest. Usually I throw a whole bunch of money at it then sell it! Lol Flame maple neck, hardtail, the SD pickups sounded good. Needs fret work, and wired up. I’ll throw in any new parts and old parts I took off. $260 https://www.flickr.com/gp/203174883@N08/7hcPard9AQ1 point

I ended up turning the bass knob down to around 11 0'clock, it was a little big/boomy in the lower notes, which is probably also a good sign that it can do that1 point

there's plenty more of that around here! "position 2" on my '90 Centaura really seems to be both halfs of the humbucker and the middle pup, so I can't say about yours. My ibanez slm10 (hss) seems to split the hum on pos-2, and makes some significant hum there compared to just the humbucker, - so that info is probably no help (really really nice guitar btw).1 point

From "The Hamer Fan Club" (link: https://www.hamerfanclub.com/494-2/ ) : The earliest Sunbursts such as the 1978 example shown above have a bridge raised on a rosewood or ebony shim. The spacing of the strings is wider with this style of bridge so the string ferules at the back of the guitar are further apart than on later guitars. The photo below shows an early bridge and wooden-shim. You may have to go this route. A Strat hardtail bridge plate and shim might get you there (I've never tried it).1 point

…Check out One Time Mountain!! Full disclosure—my brother is their new guitar player and plays lead on this song, so I’m obviously a little biased. That being the case, I think the video turned out pretty great. They have another video ready to go, and are finishing up a full length album for release next year. They also recorded an acoustic session that will be coming out sometime in the future, for which the bassist played my brother’s fretless cruise bass.1 point

I'm also indifferent towards PRS. I briefly owned a Torero and have played a bunch of others- Custom 24s, the Santana model, a few SE offerings. I haven't really felt the compulsion to get any others. My aversion to owning artist signature guitars is in no danger of changing with this model. Definitely a different and interesting offering from PRS but not blowing my skirt up.1 point

X3… I have been using Weller 40 watters on my amps and guitars for years. Iron, holder, and a sponge. It just works well.1 point

I think the MannMade bridge could fit, but it would require drilling , dowelling and redrilling the holes for the mounting screws (assuming they don't currently line up) plus enlarging string channel openings on the top of the guitar. Permanent modificiations, but they would be hidden under the bridge plate. You'd also need to check carefully to make sure the neck angle is within the adjustment range of the bridge saddles. If not, you could still make it work by shimming or grinding down the base plate. Note that I've never done this, so check everything carefully before proceeding if you're considering it.1 point

It is at least time for him to no longer attempt to play the 5 neck. That made me embarrassed for him. He is a rocker who loves to rock. Time to stick to single necks. Ugh. That hurt me to watch him struggle like that.1 point

I saw them for both Tokyo shows in 1999, back when I was stationed in Japan with the US Navy. Good shows both, the second venue (Sun Plaza, Tokyo) had a fantastic sound system, everything sounded great and loud, plus it was dialed in to where it was actually enjoyable to be there, my ears didn't ring the next day like they did after the Shibuya Kokeido a couple of days before...and no, I wasn't wearing earplugs. Plus, Rick went out on one of the lobby balconies before the Sun Plaza show and made it rain guitar picks! I used to run spot / setup for acts when I was in college. We were on CT's regular touring circuit along with Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, etc. The stage was always in the "old" fieldhouse against this wall: I would be stationed with a Strong Supertrooper on a riser upstairs opposite the stage (up the bleacher stairs to the right of this photo). They always put on a great show, but the guitar show backstage was always my favorite part. Outside of a (large) music store, I'd never seen so many guitars at one time. He had this new brand I'd only ever seen in magazines. Hammer? Hamer? 😉1 point
