  6. This is a rack system that holds up to 14 guitars (rows of 4/3/4/3) that's been in storage since the early 90's. Only 2 guitar stands are shown but you can see the mounts on the rest of the horizontal bars for reference and the remaining stands are included and require assembly. Ibanez gave these to music stores in the late 80's to showcase the product line. The whole thing breaks down with a 5mm hex key, and you can adjust the stand locations and angles. The 3 guitar stands on the top row require a little taller ceiling, but you can take the stands off the top row if you don't need or can't use them. Free for local pickup in East Hartford, CT. Email me at stongemon@aol.com.

  15. I LOVE SROs….King of the Alnicos! I found this somewhat confusing…I have always red that SRV was all about Super Reverbs, Vibroverbs, etc. mixed with a Marshall. When I saw his exhibit at the Grammy museum there was also a tweed Bassman and a plexi stack that was beat to crap. I didn’t know he played through a Twin Reverb. And the EVs I heard he liked were 12Ls…or so I apparently wrongly assumed. Further, Tommy Shannon went on record saying that SRV fell immediately in love with JB’s Dumble and recorded all tracks on Texas Flood through ā€œMother Dumbleā€ straight in…. SRV was so very good. I refused to play a Strat for 20 years because every time I did, all I would do is play his licks and emulate him. And that didn’t happen on any other guitar and I wanted to craft my own sound. Now I grab a Strat and launch into his songs and just giggle. I’m able to do it now.

  17. As someone who practically lived in bars I heard this song and thought...Damn! That's gonna get a lot of cowboy's and cowgirls laid!! Made me feel frisky at 70 some years old. Head down to the old waterin' hole and hold em' close so I don't get a smelly one!!!

  18. True story in the back seat of my dad's Ford Pinto. This girl was a smelly one. We were parked by a lake and the cops showed up. Made us get out of the car, took our info back to theirs and my girlfriend said, "I know they could smell your breath."

  25. People sometimes ask for things they are not going to buy. When given a choice between the old standard or a modified version, people split. Some have to be in their safe zone of what they grew up with. Some are actual players with needs that are met by the updated features, but that means a smaller number of consumers will buy the improved guitar. To start a new line of instruments takes a bit of psychological manipulation. Jol Danzig said that bass players were asked for input when he was designing the Impact Bass. Those are really nice basses, but they did not catch on like they should have.

  26. Sad to hear. He flew the Hamer banner for quite a while. I wouldn't wish Parkinson's on my worst enemy... šŸ˜ž

  27. I got to hang out with him and he took us through his touring guitar racks and let us monkey around with and shoot pics of his gear for the Hamer book. He couldn’t have been a nicer guy, nor more generous with his time. I saw him at a NAMM show 5-6 months later, and he remembered me without any prompting and wanted to know if the pics came out okay or if we needed anything else. Super talented guy, and he is so much more than just ā€œthat guy in Gwen Stefani’s old bandā€. I am hoping for the best for him.

  28. Sad to hear. I have a friend with it and it's sad to see. I liked his guitar playing, and he represented Hamer well for awhile... https://www.buddlejagarden.co.uk/hamerblog/dumont.htm

  29. It's essentially the same as a red-lined Standard/Blitz case. There were black-lined versions later in the run in the later '80s.

  30. I realize the sketch is iconic, but dang, if you're doing a matched set like that, it was a great opportunity to alter one to have a little grin and have a comedy/tragedy set.

  31. Damn. Bun could really bring the thunder. Funny how the audience sits on their hands until Robin steps up, and they realize what song they're doing.

  32. No. Again. The Diablo Hamer didn’t leave the factory anything like that. Also, Gibson built Rick 3 Explorers and 3 Flying Vs several years ago, after the demise of Hamer. Rick gave (or sold/traded) one of those to the guy who found the Tour prop Eye. It wasn’t a Gibson copy of a Hamer, just a checkerboard finished, off the line Flying V. I’m not sure Diablo cares to know the truth if it would mess up their sale.

  33. So Gibson copied a Hamer copy of a Gibson? 🤪 Anyway I wonder if someone should let Diablo know, they seem like a reputable shop.

  35. One man’s wet dream is another man’s abomination. I’m in the latter camp on this one. Still a cool and unique piece of Hamer history.

  36. Oh boy. Now that I'm the overly-proud owner of a checkerboard guitar strap. I need a checkerboard guitar. And checkerboard shoes, socks, trousers, shirt, tie, sport coat and short-billed cap. And then we get into the checkerboarded greasepaint on hands and neck and face. It's the madness of devout consistency.

  37. I always thought that Vector of Rick's was the coolest V. The Standard headstock on it takes it over the top.

  38. My brother has it. He's a couple of years older than me, and was first diagnosed about 20 years ago. His wife recently had to move him into a memory care nursing facility. She has to sell their house so they can afford the care. Since my brother is incapable of understanding anything and can't express himself at all, I have to sign the documents on his behalf.
