  1. I traded a Custom shop Charvel, an 86 SG and a Chaparral that may or may not have had a neck repair even up. I didn’t really gig with any of them so….. and, the Firebird will be going out Friday night to a gig !!

  3. Atta' kid. I've paid too much for some of the best guitars on the planet (IMHO). I let their market value "catch up" to what I paid. Enjoy!

  6. Atomic Music swears it wasn’t a refin job. It’s with my guitar tech now. Going to go over it….black light etc

  7. Totally agree with Chris, that is a refin and at least the bridge pickup was changed. You should definitely black light the guitar to make sure no neck issues.

  8. Prelims: During the most recent respite vacation coordinated with the local hospice folks, the Princess and I went to south central Kentucky to my mother's hometown. Elizabeth had never been there and I wanted her to know about her paternal grandmother's family (my Mom died when Elizabeth was 17 months old), so there was a visit to the home where my mother was born, the cemetery, etc. Plus we stopped by Cumberland Falls. We were a little ahead of schedule, so naturally I hit some pawn shops, and picked this '83 Peavey T-27. I had always been intrigued by this model, as it was of the few production model S/S/HB hardtails made (the only other ones I can recall off the top of my head were Gibson's short-lived US-1 later in the '80s (didn't Gary Richrath endorse that model?) and the Robin Medley. Seemed like almost all S/S/HB guitars had high-tech vibratos. And Robin made a S/S/HB Medley bass. The T-27 had Peavey's patented coil-rolloff circuitry but it's set up differently from the T-60 (I'm still figuring it out). But I'm wondering what the replacement toggle switch cap is, and the intrigue is admittedly the main reason I bought it. Its wide-and-flat configuration is easy to locale (by feel) and easy to manipulate. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  10. In a newsletter it just told that the German Guitarmaniacs site will be available in English now serving international interests. So you could now create your galleries and show your Hamers. https://www.guitarmaniacs.de/

  14. The 90 has a full centerblock and is otherwise the same dimensions. Also, damn. I think your other guitar covers the base well, so you probably want to just get that Hamer back to me.

  17. Hi Folks, Sorry about the delay in fixing attachment upload. I wasnt able to sort it immediately after go live on new server and work has had me away from home for last 3 weeks. I have some time off over weekend and going to dive deeper. That said I had mentioned that IPB has been turning the screws trying to get us to subscribe and so I am looking at moving to Xenforo which has a much more reasonable licensing model. I am also looking at that this weekend and moving to the new software might make more sense than fixing attachments in IPB. I'll keep you posted.

  18. After tons of hours and thousands of co-pilot messages (amazing really) to figure out the new host created a broken VPS. The site should be back and better than ever. Beat it up and let me know what you find. That said. IPB message board we use has become bloated and is bugging me to constantly buy updates and move to their cloud services. It's to the point that I am ready to jump to another forum product. I am not planning on doing it this week. But likely in the future. If you are interested check out xenforo, its lighter weight, has a very similar feature set and much more appealing licensing. Thanks all for your patience. I appreciate every member of the first and best damn guitar forum on the internet for over 30 years your friend Ted Martin For those that have no clue what I am referring to see the back story here:

  21. I would have preferred to just read this, but I can't find it and am left to a "reaction" video Nonetheless, the response by the lawyer representing a group of builders makes it seem like Fender's case in Germany was really, really slapdash. A lot of the basic facts claimed by Fender in the case are just objectively inaccurate and rather embarrassing to hear listed out now that there is an attorney presenting an actual defense.

  26. Is the 90 body thicker than standard Newpport Like an Improv? Is the body carved out leaving the center block? For the record mine has the largest Hamer neck I have ever played Thanks Feynman!!

  31. The illustrator in me tended to respond more to painted/airbrushed art more so than covers featuring photography. For instance: Richard Corben's art for Bat Out Of Hell: Or this Drew Struzan's art for Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (which does feature some titties but an absence of genitalia)

  34. I have had 5 or 6 SGs over the years and sold all but the 2 (3, if you count the really capable Epi SG) I have. Somewhere on here is the sordid tale of the 50th Anniv. Lim. Ed. Diablo w/ factory Floyd and 24 frets, that I sold and then spent years trying to replace. Found a nice one in the UK. Not long after, I realized that I really needed a fixed bridge version for AC/DC, Sabbath and other fixed bridge-type material. So I found the 50th Anniv. in the hard tail version (also w/ 24 frets ) and have been alternating between that and my blocked and locked CS LP Axcess at rehearsals, gigs & appearances.

  36. While not necessarily my favorite album as a kid, I probably spent too much time lusting after the checkerboard Standard on the back cover...finally acquired an all-mahogany 4-Digit (#0703) that was the perfect candidate for the conversion and let Stike and Shane go to town on it. Dream realized 35 years later!

  37. I will say that I rolled that big old paper on more than one occasion. It would light up in a big flame at the end with every hit. Quite a fun trick for a young stoner. The comedy on the album is gold as well. Fifi!!!
