I have a problem. But after seeing that photo of the specials et al, I now understand that my problem is not big enough. Gotta work on that. I feel so much better.3 points

You DEFINITELY need both. And an Artist. And probably a Special. And a Junior. And.......3 points

Hamer 25th Mahogany, some light scratches and nicks but otherwise well cared for 6 lbs 14 oz, frets are in good shape, some light surface wear but no heavy grooving one pot and barrel jack have been replaced and electronics are fully functioning once again. non original hard case but protects it well. too many cases in my spare room thus the sale. $1080 delivered paypal friends and family in the con US. or $1000 cash on a North of Boston/Southern NH pickup (Rt 3/93/495) For any Maine-iacs in the crowd, I can meet at the NH coast if need be.2 points

I don't like the JB. Never have, never will. Never had an SD. I really like the SD '59 & the Antiquity II tele set I have.2 points

I couldn't finish watching it. I have a problem when they just fill the video with random pics about the subject and they don't match up with what the narrator is saying... talking about a particular player and shows someone else etc. No offense to anyone, glad you enjoyed it.2 points

I might add.....Things like this do make you think about mortality. And all the more so as I did have a bit of a health scare myself 2 weeks ago. Released and sent home with no restrictions, but the 30 hours in the hospital with very little sleep did sorta "concentrate my mind". I really DO need to think about why I have so damn many guitars and other gear. WAY too much money tied up in all that stuff......Pretty sure I will be identifying many pieces and upping my efforts to move some along. I expect I will be posting some things here, as well as calling some folks that have asked for dibs.....I just don't want to get ahead of myself as a "teaser" until I have a definite list and can set asking prices.2 points

What a beautiful collection. $350 can't be touched today. Funny world isn't it?2 points

I would have! I used to play just that pedal E at the beginning of the song at band practice and invariably someone would go "YES!!! Do it!" It's funny how people can recognize a song just from something like that. One of the trademarks of my style was dropping riffs, melodies, or solo quotes from other songs into the song I was playing like they do with this one.2 points

I got one of their "blemished" pickups for a Malcolm Young Gretsch I have. On the sale page they picture the actual pickup you're buying and in my case, I could not see a thing wrong with it. Sounds great too of course.2 points

Yup those were vintage carve. Artists are such great guitars.2 points

Thought I would make one of these for when it is late and I (or anyone else who has mental diarrhea) decide to post passing thoughts that I am sure everyone is just DYING to see posted. I walked in tonight after having a few drinks out on the town, looked at my hamers quietly resting in their stand, and was totally stoked that I own such instruments. I think I may play myself to sleep on the couch on one of them.1 point

Update: Tuners gone……….I have wound up with the pictured tuners. I believe 6 left-handed inline style and 3 right-handed inline style but could be wrong. Hamer branded except for 2 of the 3 right-handed ones (Schaller Branding). Will send to someone for $10.40 shipping for your guitar or your parts drawer. The buttons measure 18mm. Happy to provide more pics or measurements to help id them.1 point

Any argument on which pickup is superior needs to be couched in the disclaimer that it's all subjective. I have tried both, time and time again. While I've found a few JB's that were more palatable to my ear, the vast majority were not. SuperD's just never grabbed me. Full stop. It's kinda funny because I don't think of myself as being particularly discerning in my audio preferences; I'm not a tone chaser to the extent that I have seen on here and elsewhere. But I know what I like when I hear it.1 point

i have a 90's JB and Jazz in my thinline and they sound fantastic. I have always wanted a Super Distortion for my LP but I like the current PU's enough not to change them. Thanks this was a good watch1 point

I got a wonderful T-62, and now a Daytona popped up. I am wondering how big the difference is… Does one need both (not from a fanboy/collectors view 😎).1 point

Still overwhelmingly impressed with the Tech 21 Screaming Blonde this board talked me into a few months back. It was the perfect solution at the perfect time. I go straight to FOH, sounds great, responds like a real amp and requires very little power. I only wish I had bought the Marshall version at the same time. ETA: AND NO MENUS!1 point

I believe that Rock N' Roll Relics are using the Mojotone Quiet Coil P-90 pickups. I have a set of the Mojotone Hot Quiet Coil P-90 pickups in my 1993 Hamer USA Special with P-90s. I love the tone that I'm getting with the Hot Quiet Coil P-90 pickups installed on my guitar. The OEM Seymour Duncans that came with the guitar sounded decent, but I couldn't deal with the noise issues and didn't like using a Boss NS-2 noise gate pedal or having to shut off the volume constantly to tame the noise.1 point

Daytona is a better Strat. 25 1/2" scale, Seymour pickups. 14" scale. Trem, etc. I don't have both but think they would be quite different.1 point

Still testing the new forum with @cmatthes and @hikarateboy (who both have jobs). There's still a problem with my access to editing the website itself, which is where the songs would be hosted and posted. I don't have a target date at this time, unfortunately, but that only means that more people should be sending me songs!1 point

That's great! I played that song for my wife the other day. She didn't remember it. Almost makes me think that girls back then pretended to like our rock music just to get boyfriends and future husbands. But they wouldn't do that right?1 point

Hard one to let go, but putting my 2005 Hamer USA Korina Vector (GVKS) up for sale. This is the standard production model that followed the limited Brazilian run, and it features the exceptional build quality you’d expect from the 05-06 era. The Elephant in the Room: It has had a headstock repair. However, this wasn't a "local shop" fix. The restoration was performed by Jason Dumont (LapKing). For those who know Jason’s pedigree with Hamer, Guild, and Fender, his work is essentially factory-grade. The joint is rock solid and the guitar resonates exactly as a Korina V should. Specs: Body/Neck: African Limba (Korina) Pickups: Original Seymour Duncan '59 set Hardware: Original Gold (minor tarnishing as expected for '05) Case: Original Hamer Hardshell included Price: $3,500 plus shipping. I’m pricing this to reflect both its rarity and the high pedigree of the restoration. I've included some shots of Jason Dumont's restoration in progress for those who may have an interest1 point

I am sure a few of you have heard about my "jazz guitar buddy". A very talented guy, worked hard at it. Settled down after years on the road. Moved from SoCal to Portland. Readily admitted he had the luxury of a wife with a real job. So, he could stay at home, be house hubby to their daughter, give lessons, play local gigs. We were in SoCal at the same time but did not meet until we were both back in the Portland area.....I was probably jamming with a musical Captain in the BHPD about the same time the PD was harassing him for looking homeless as he drove through town nearly living in his car hitting gigs from San Diego to San Francisco and piling up tens of thousands of miles a year. Michael answered an ad for a vintage ES-335 I was selling. Expected he might be able to jam me on price if he was lucky. Admitted it was a failed hope when I answered the door. But we became friends. He taught me things about music, I taught him things re financial planning and funding his daughter's PHD path from Portland to Las Vegas to MIlwaukie. Shared out love of gear and did some swapping. Two very different people, but we became friends. Hard to not like someone as full of stories as Michael. Not too many weeks ago, I told him I was pondering getting outta the state that seems to be getting more and more radicalized. He immediately informed me I should move to Nashville AND he would fly out to the west coast for a road trip moving a truckload of musical gear to Tennessee. His not so secret hope----Maybe he had better chance of getting into the more exclusive part of the collection at Gruhn Guitars if we brought along a few of my more interesting guitars. 😉Whether or not that made any sense, it is not to be. He died of a heart attack 2 days ago in Wisconsin. Michael (Gargano) is not likely someone you have heard of. And likely not the music you would have on your playlist, though he went from hard rock and drugs to big bands and solo/small band jazz over his 60+ years of playing. But if anyone is interested, here is a bit of his music posted again today. I am sure I have other recordings somewhere. Joe Pass-like Christmas album. Fingerstyle versions of Beatle classics and jazz standards. Not gonna say I could ever play like him. But I DO play a bit better as a result of his influence. RIP Michael.0 points
