BCR Greg Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Tallys are cool. We all know that. I was not impressed with the unbound board, though, and told Jol that. He replied that he didn't think that he could bind the board and get the same feel. I brought up AGAIN that I feel that fretting over the binding works extremely well, and he FINALLY agreed to give it a try. Since he agreed, I went with quilt and tobacco burst to make it a truly gorgeous guitar. How'd I do? And the fretted over bound board. I like it this way because I have a wide vibrato, and this gives you more fret area to use... And the rosewood headstock face is a nice touch.... Thanks again, Jol, for giving me what I want. This guitar is available for adoption.
MCChris Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Friggin' sweet man. No doubt about it.I could see Brooks grokking these guitars.
Sentinel Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 This is what I've been saying all along - a Talladega Custom! That's "my" guitar!!Mmm, quilted maple... ahhhh!!
Hackubus Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I think you did good. I like the looks of the fret ends over the binding. I've never had the pleasure of playing one like that.
Thundernotes Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Personally, that's the way I think all bound fretboards should be fretted - over the binding. Nice looking guitar you got there!
Guitarseh Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Geez, I just got one and I'm STILL jealous of this one Mark B
atquinn Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Binding over the frets feels a bit slinkier to me, but I love the looks of the fully bound board and headstock. All the regular Tally's look kind of funny to me (either bind everything on the neck or nothing at all says I). -Austin
BubbaVO Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Shoots and scores from the blue line! That binding really does add a very classy element to the guitar.
Camstone Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Hey Greg. Nice guitar!!!Tell me, when exactly was this ordered? Perhaps it will give me some idea of when to expect Tortuga JR.
BCR Greg Posted September 28, 2007 Author Posted September 28, 2007 Ordered at NAMM in January, tho the binding/fret over issue delayed it a bit.BTW, notice the fretboard. (giggle)
Buzzy Fretts Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Personally, that's the way I think all bound fretboards should be fretted - over the binding. Nice looking guitar you got there!+1
kizanski Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Personally, that's the way I think all bound fretboards should be fretted - over the binding.I've never understood why it would ever be done any other way.
kurtsstuff Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Hmm??....EMG's would fit nicely huh?? runs and ducks for cover....hehehe
prototype-fan Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 That's the nicest one I've seen yet.
