veatch Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 The wood is incredible, but it is the hands of the craftsman that makes the guitar sound good. We have the benefit of both, and i'm *stoked*!
hamerhead Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 You're all getting wood from Mike. That just sounds weird.
Boomerang~Junkie Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 When I study these pictures, (and I do study them like a kid with a catalog of toys before Christmas), the overall precision on these guitars is so incredibly high, they almost appear to have be made by some sort of flawless, automated robotic process. Of course, we all know otherwise. You have that rare and remarkable blend of talent and gift - nothing else can get you to this level. If I'm ever able to retire, being an apprentice or being able to sit and just watch someone like you work in a place like this would be a true dream. Yes, I have MAD floor sweeping skills.
Northfield Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Happy to report that the first of the Ultimates have made it to the spray booth. While the clear coats dry, have been busy getting the next few ready to go: Also had the chance to score some really cool / rare wide korina blanks
Jakeboy Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 The Korina is stupid awesome....I have some flamey Korina on my Special Jr. that was made for Matt Scannell, but this makes mine look like particle board...WOW!
Jakeboy Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Brings to mind the Muddy Waters song Corina, Corina.....just spelled differently....
gorch Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Fantastic wood score! Congratulations. Can't wait to see the first Ultimates painted.
DBraz Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 These collection of photo's have become my first place to check for updates on the HFC. Awesome!!

Biz Prof Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Considering that I'm a fan of Mike's work, this is very exciting to watch unfold. Given that I failed to make it into the "chosen few", it is also incredibly frustrating.
Tres Aardvarks Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Daaaaaayum!!!! I love the batch method builds, as we can see the next ones alongside the first batch!

We do have documented an assigned serial number as high as 0047, though we do not really have an official handle on the starting number (will it be 0000 in the Hamer tradition, or will it be 0001?).

Boomerang~Junkie Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 K O R I N A Hamerica faints! I'll be damned if these threads don't need their own built-in A.E.D. and a direct local phone hotlink to, "nine-hundred-eleven" ! When I read this post, my first thought were these lyrics, "Somebody call a doctor! I think I'm going crazy . . . . . . " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCXYxGFbsBs
triodecr Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Also had the chance to score some really cool / rare wide korina blanks Hmmm... that looks juuuuuuuust about wide enough for an Ultimate.
