soli'd Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 ...is in the mail. Scheduled for Saturday, too, so I don't even have to call in sick for work. to quote a phrase I see here often, and hope to say a lot in 2016, LIFE IS GOOD! Thank you Mike!
Jakeboy Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (Spoiler Alert)It's a Dulcimer.Hammered or mountain?
soli'd Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 "Hammered" is a too often used descriptor in my experience, so I'll go with mountain.
BubbaVO Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (Spoiler Alert) It's a Dulcimer. Hammered or mountain? Just so long as you don't refer to it as "Hamered"
soli'd Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Just took a couple cell shots, must get back to shredding callouses. But this should give an idea of 0033. It is so badass. It's hard to capture, it's not actually black, but a really dark maroon (oxblood) color that is so close a match to what I had in mind I couldn't believe it. I know this color was a tricky match, and being that it's hard to photograph, when we were sending shots to compare it was hard to know what we were looking at. In the end, it came out as perfect as I could imagine, looks really cool in person. Grovers! The workmanship is incredible. Nicest instrument I've ever owned. Plays like a dream and the sound is bold, clear, and honest.
unfun75 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 That color is perfect. You can actually see the red.
Jakeboy Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Holy cow! That thing is beautiful! These never cease to amaze. We are all so very fortunate to be in on the Ultimate run.And your strap seems a perfect match as well.
DBraz Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 That is a fantastic colour combination. Inspired!
foodermon Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 that looks so right in the pic. has to look 100x mo betta in person. gotta be a difficult color to get right in a pic. congrats.. that is way cool.
BTMN Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Some SERIOUS good looking stuff right there! Don't really need to even say this, Enjoy!
scottcald Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Man I love how the color changes a bit in the light. Awesome!
soli'd Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Thanks guys, I get how other owners have been saying their other guitars aren't getting played much now. She's got a really pretty, deep, piano/bell-tone clean voice, but when you add gain, wow, there it is, perfect rock and roll KERRRANGG! but with every note distinct. The resonance is awesome- you can softly pluck an open string and feel the top of the headstock and tip of the far fin ringing like a tuning fork. Here's a shot that shows the top color in direct sunlight. I keep thinking how cool this color scheme would look on a Cobra...
The Shark Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I've never been a fan of the "oxblood" Gibsons from recent years. I think your Ultimate is fabulous. It's just a deeper color than its Gibson counterpart, if that makes sense. Really cool...
