velorush Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I'll throw this in for entertainment as the price seems "Ludicrous Speed" (but what do I know?). I subscribe to Lee (the seller) for his psychedelic, meandering descriptions, but in this case the description is of what appears to be an absolutely pristine 1977 Sunburst. It appears to have been purchased and put under a bed. Anyway, hope you enjoy the narrative.
Hbom Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 What a beauty! Unfortunately, it' so nice I'd be afraid to take it out of the case too. So I'll have to pass. 😥 I
velorush Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 After pondering it for a bit, the price compared to equivalent year Lesters makes it seem more reasonable. That's where they're priced. The Sunburst is likely better made and obviously weighs less. Still too pricey for me, and as @Hbom pointed out, I'd be too afraid something would happen to it.
kizanski Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I know intonation is for pussies and all, but there's no way you'll get that guitar in tune with that saddle alignment.
bsteff666 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Lee bought that at the Fall Philly show last month from a guy walking around looking to sell. He showed it to me right after he bought it. Nice guitar. Very clean.

Must be a really cool dude, let alone his shop name. 😎 Edit to add: Never seen such a pristine one. Were all CSBs that much Clownsburst like this one in their first years? Glad, mine are old enuff to have faded...
cmatthes Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 That’s very much typical for a ‘77-early ‘78 Burst. They figured out how to spray a burst by ‘79…
Steve Haynie Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Does the guy sell guitar picks for $50 each?

This made me laugh! To be honest I believe there was about one time, when I bought a guitar that was properly set up out of many guitars I have bought (I mean something like 30 guitars, probably nothing compared to what other guys have achieved in life). To be even more honest I only understood what to do with those saddles on a guitar about 5 yrs ago 😂 I like my 90s Les Paul much better now then I did back then.
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Very cool guitar but the price is pretty out of hand I'd say.......................I know it is an early SUNBURST but come on. Yeah one of the first things I noticed was those saddle positions, no way that is ever going to play in tune in its present state. Hamer guitar asking prices are way up and while that is a good thing in that respect as in the past they have been undervalued. Asking [And expecting to get] 7K and over for a DOT neck Hamer Sunburst that just seems insane to me. But who knows someone will probably buy it................ they aren't making anymore......................least not the REAL ones.

velorush Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 I ran the Price Guide for Hamer Sunburst (the Price Guide had the model listed as a 1979, but no matter). Looks like it went for about $6,000 (unless there was some other Sunburst that sold for $6,000).
RobB Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Who would pay $6k for a guitar with a botched neck angle? I wonder if 2nd-gen Sustainblock (with thick base) would make the ebony shim unnecessary?

Nothing else.
Dave Scepter Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 If it's really that important, Just call the shop and ask
