  1. SOLD $5500- I bought this about a year ago. I believe it's chambered because it's light. Excellent condition, near mint- I can't find any marks of any kind or fret wear. The neck is fairly thick, thicker than any 2000s Hamer that I've played. Private message me for questions. We can work out shipping if necessary for the actual cost.

  2. That's awesome! More pics are always cool. Starting your next build soon? 😉 Some of my favorite guitars/basses are built from parts. Just got a super cool one in from Stike in time for a gig last weekend, and it rawked:

  3. Had a 50th Anniversary American Strat Neck and a Jerry Donahue pickup lying around. Bought some more parts and went with a tele body. Only way to use the neck and the pickups. Pitbull Audio had a Classic Series alder body on sale for $225, so away I went. Pretty happy with how it all came together. I am going to have to cut the pickguard back a little around the control panel to account for the offset from the round neck heel. Would have been easier to do that under the fretboard overhang, but I already drilled the holes when I thought about that. Otherwise, was fun to finally build a guitar.

  4. ‘02 B1H in Honeyburst. Was an ‘02 NAMM display. Looks unplayed. All case candy, etc. Case shows some bumps & bruises but not the guitar. Someone must’ve stashed it away. Just unboxed & tuned it. Everything works as it should. Will get it restrung this evening & get more acquainted.

  8. I get similar emails from Kraft Music (WI) - "call for deals!" I don't understand the setup: am I supposed to call and ask for a list of random products that are on sale or am I supposed to call on the hope something I'm shopping for is on sale? Either case seems an incredibly inefficient means of conveying discount information. If it's such a good deal, why not list the discounts offered on a special web page and move on? Are they selling Gibson guitars, for example, which prohibits advertising anything below MSRP on new merchandise? Maybe that's it... FWIW: I have never 'called for a deal.'

  9. Weird coincidence, I just listened to DATD “In Concert” last week — it’s a good performance by BW, and Clapton was still playing hard. I thought BW had already passed (and I checked) but at the time he hadn’t, I knew that Jim Gordon (super sad story) and Carl Radle were already gone. Once again (as with ‘The Cream’) Clapton is the last man standing!

  13. Agreed, which is why I've never bought a pre-wired assembly.

  14. Excellent job. There's something about putting one together yourself. They truly feel like a part of you. Enjoy!

  15. I believe that a foundation owns most of the blue guitars now, and I think they have been maintaining and traveling them them. There also are some new blue guitars, made using the same Mohawk blue color. I think Maegen Wells made one, and I saw a few others. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_HEV7oO61J/

  18. Not as cheap as me! But I'm committed either way. Cutting it for the neck heel would mean moving it up too, which would mean having to re-drill the body. I think a Dremel and some patience should work out OK.

  19. Picked this up, jack, and some 250k pots. I soldered it up myself. Had an orange drop cap from a previous pot replacement. https://reverb.com/item/35774575-fender-wilkinson-telecaster-chrome-body-hardware-set-vintage-3-saddle-compensated-bridge-tb-5129-001

  20. If you have even a passing interest in archtops, Blue Guitar, by Ken Voss, is a must! Scott Chinery, who commissioned the collection, was scum, but that book is pure luthier's porn. I also recommend Acquired of The Angels - an amazing history of John D'Angelico and Jimmy D'Aquisto's careers and legacies.

  21. I have no qualms with quilted maple but I think @scottcald finds it to be incongruous with the metal flake finish on the body and I can see his point. I would have preferred it remaining as bare maple but it wasn't a deal-killer.

  24. So yes, I've got a copy of the Hamer Book, and I've also got a copy of Billy Gibbons Rock & Roll Gearhead. These are both GREAT reads and full of pictures and information, and now I'm picking up Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass. Just wondering what other "gearhead" books people may have picked up, especially ones that are just as good of a read as they are to look at.

  25. Killer sounding 20 watt amp with vertical 2x12 cab. All stock. In great condition. Head is mint. Cab has a couple of scuffs on the bottom, see pics (finger for scale… 😂) Links to sweetwater for new price comparison. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JJ-JUNIOR--friedman-jj-junior-jerry-cantrell-signature-2-channel-20-watt-tube-head https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FVert212Gld--friedman-vertical-212-120-watt-2x12-inch-extension-cabinet-gold-weave Cheapest I see on reverb right now is $1,290 for the head and $800 for the cab. For the HFC I would do $1,100 for the head and $700 for the cab. $1,700 for the pair together. Cash in person or PPFF. No shipping at this time. Located in west suburbs of Chicago. Willing to drive 2 hours for a meet up. EDIT: If someone wants the head only; I will consider splitting them up and shipping the head. Buyer pays actual shipping. Quick and dirty photos attached, more available on request.

  28. Fair warning, building teles can be addictive. Nice job on your first build, looks like a great guitar. Saul, Mojotone makes good wiring kits and they don't take nearly as long to ship. I find the four way switch option a versatile way to go. https://mojotone.com/products/pre-wired-tele-4-way-mod-guitar-wiring-harness?variant=41689792774240

  29. I agree. D'Addarios feel stiff and sound lifeless to me. Plus, I absolutely hate the stupid colored ball ends, especially on guitars with stop tailpieces where they're visible.

  30. 1st. I stopped buying anything new from anyone related to FMIC about 15 years ago. 2nd. The nice thing about Fender whatever, is that in a month or two there will be a bunch of them available "used excellent" at all the big box stores for about 30% less than new.

  31. There is, kinda. It's called the mod shop. And it results in stuff like this happening:

  32. I agree with every one of your statements above. I don't think I've ever owned an actual Fender anything. Too easy to build partscasters the way I want. Mine usually play better than any of the Fenders I've played at GC too. But, I've never played a Custom Shop. So there is that. @geoff_hartwell @velorush @crunchee @tbonesullivan

  33. Who's ever heard of Robert "Mint Man" Johnson from Memphis? He's been collecting for over 50 yearsl.first time I saw one of his instruments was in the mid-'70s In an Ian Bishop books. The magazine has done a profile on him as well as articles on some of his collectibles His history includes playing with John Entwistle's Ox in the early '70 to being . What would be the interest in his story accompanied by color photos (format like the Robin and Fritz books)? He's a famous player but is a legendary collector and historian 3.docx
