  4. Bull Shit, you need a Standard in the closet of that rollin' RV studio. What else are you gonna do out there in the woods?

  5. ^^^100%. Goes right along with them damn kids listening to everything on shitty phone speakers instead of a good and proper stereo. No wonder they like the shit that passes for music nowadays - they've never heard GOOD music done right.

  7. My brother's band just released their latest music video, and I thought you guys might enjoy. No Hamer content here, but my bro plays a pretty tasty solo on this one. ...However, there IS some Hamer content in the acoustic version they did of the first single "Goin' Crazy;" the bass player is playing my brother's fretless cruisebass (i think?)

  8. https://reverb.com/item/96935562-hamer-studio-archtop-don-t-wanna-hear-about-it-1993 Hamer Studio Archtop. Don’t wanna hear about it. 1993 How’s that? You suffer from dĂ©jĂ  vu and amnesia? You’re sorry? Save it. You couldn’t resist, could you? It was the early 2000s—you with your unnecessarily large diamond earring and that emo haircut, looking like John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls. This is when you carelessly traded me for a red 1964 Res-O-Glass Airline, and in return, you ponied up the $400.00 boot. Why? Well, because a seven-nation army couldn’t hold you back. Life indeed is the sum of our choices. Where is the Airline now? Speak up. I thought so. And how’s that, Jack? “And I’m talkin’ to myself at night because I can’t forget. Back and forth through my mind, behind a cigarette.” Yes, you’re talking to yourself, alright, and meanwhile I was sitting on the rack at Sam’s Discount Guitars & Record Emporium. Sometimes wanting is better than having—a lesson you still bear to this day. OK, OK, stop sniffling. Here I am again, and so is your chance to make things whole with the universe. Besides, what did you ever see in that other guitar? Please. As for me? Do you recall the richness of my Honduras mahogany body, with sustain for days? How about these impressive Maricella Juarez wound Duncan 59, P.A.F. and JB that throw fire in the face of the unsuspecting? Remember this two-piece flamed top bound in ivory trim? Nice, right? How about my precision tuning, brought to you by Schaller? Frets? Just as you left me. Truss rod? Functions as intended. Original case? No doubt. Setup? As usual. Condition? Stunning. In closing, sometimes wanting is better than having—and sometimes not. Stop feeling like the damned looking at paradise. It’s right here. Just remember: you can’t go back and make a brand-new start, but you can start from now and make a brand-new ending. What’s the alternative? Oh, I know. “Don’t wanna hear about it. Every single one’s got a story to tell. Everyone knows about it, From the Queen of England to the Hounds of Hell.” Save it for the football game already.

  11. If using LDAC or aptX, it can be good. I use Bluetooth to drive my speakers in my home office from the studio. Works well enough, and i didn't have to run any cables. : )

  14. I've got a 12 string / 6 string doubleneck from Emerald Guitars in Ireland (also carbon fiber made). I NEVER have to tune it. That's awesome in and of itself, but it also sounds GREAT recorded.

  15. He added it in the 70s, and although a rare guitar, it wasn't worth nearly as much "$3-5K" as it is now... and he played the hell out of it "as a tool" not a collectors piece

  18. I have some great sounding bluetooth DAC inputs. My AirPods Pro 3 sound amazing. Bluetooth has definitely made strides in quality. It was more for convenience but the quality is definitely there if you go with the better equipment.

  20. Update from nearly one year ago. I am still working on playing more than my Tele on gigs. A bit tough since I've have a variety of sounds dialed in. Played the Les Paul the last set last weekend, always fun. Last night, played the Studio Custom the last set which is the first time out since RS Guitarworks worked on the frets/setup and adjusted the pickups. Wow, it really screamed! The lead tones on La Grange were inspiring. I had to turn down a couple of gains since the pickups are hotter than than the Tele - another challenge to swapping guitars but that can be managed with a little work. In addition to the crew at RS, props to @JGravelin for the pickups in the Hamer and Les Paul.

  22. My top 3 were McPherson, Rainsong and Emerald. Rainsong got the nod when it came to cost vs use - it didn't make a lot of sense to spend big on something that gets picked up maybe once a week. And from what I'd read (and YouTubed), the Rainsong has the more piano-like sound (as opposed to traditional wood acoustic sound) of the bunch. That's not a knock on Emerald or McPherson - they both sound fantastic, just in a different way. If I had the $$$$ ...... We'll see. I'm curious and stoked to get it in my grubby little mitts (Tuesday, hopefully). I needed a jumpstart. I hope this helps.

  25. I ended up with swinsian, but that was to run on a mac mini. For android, you can try foobar2000, but if i recall, the interface is a bit, er, "challenging". Poweramp might be an option, but i haven't tried it. And honestly, I haven't used android for music, so I'm no expert. There are FiiO dedicated music players, which are android based, but now you're talking money again. Those ain't cheap. And really not the point. You want to use your phone...

  27. It has more to do with the length of the cable than anything. My bandmate Steve was a firm believer that a coiled cable sounded better than the same length straight cable. Then, Eric Johnson made it so. Frankly, the treble and presence controls on the amp mitigate the need for a coiled cable. JMHO. I do, however, have a coiled cable in my gig case, if my wireless units fail. It's more of a trip precaution than anything...

  30. As bad as I sound on a conventionally-fretted guitar, I can only imagine the levels of suck I could accomplish with that! I do love the micro-tonal stuff though. Anyone a fan of Pat Matheny's "Secret Story?"

  31. For all us OCD f***ers who can't comprehend it unless it's in list form: Rolph PAF set "underwound" for $350. Two really nice aged nickel covers for $45. LovePedal Mosferatu pedal for $145 (has the good transistors). Early Wizz humbuckers (no paperwork and no logos) for $600 (I don't have provenance, but they are the shit). Gibson Rhythm and Lead Pro pickups for $250. Boss Volume Pedal (the industry standard) for $50. Gravelin "Ultimate Charlotte" set for $350. "PTP" Indonesian PAF pickups for $100 (they sound pretty good). Seymour Duncan custom mini-humbucker four conductor pickup for $125. Gibson Sonex 180 pickups known as "Velvet Bricks" by Bill Lawrence for $350. Thorn Staple P-90 set for $350. Ron doesn't sell these anymore. Stewart MacDonald Golden Age 5400-Z/5401-Z set for $100 (highly underrated PAFs). Gibson Pat# from the mid-sixties (re-wind required)) for $150. Generic humbucker for $30??? Gravelin Ultimate Charlotte for $150 (not sure about the measurements, but I can find out!). Fender Tele pickup (generic import model) for $50. Marshall Gold logo reproduction for $40. Nickel Grovers from 2001 for $175. Celestion Greenback 25Watt speakers (2) for $300 (plastic mag covers are damaged, but pickups sound great). Stevens Pat Pend pre-1952 slide for $50.
