Still overwhelmingly impressed with the Tech 21 Screaming Blonde this board talked me into a few months back. It was the perfect solution at the perfect time. I go straight to FOH, sounds great, responds like a real amp and requires very little power. I only wish I had bought the Marshall version at the same time. ETA: AND NO MENUS!5 points

I used to own a Boss GT-3. I sometimes wonder why I sold it to get the Zoom G9.2tt effects processor which had good effects, easy to program, but the overdrive & distortion didn't sound any where as good. The GT-3 & GT-5 was the last version of their effects processors to have analog overdrive & distortion effects. The effect menu was easy to program and was able to get a lot great useful sounds and used it as a MIDI controller for my amps. I didn't use the COSM amp modeling much on it. If I were to use some kind of amp modeling, I would get a Friedman IR-X tube preamp running 4 cable method, program it with either my Fractal Audio FX-8 or Boss MS-3 effects processors, and send the IR-X preamp output to FOH with IR programmed for how I want each channel to sound.4 points

Used to be mine once upon a time... Owned MANY Graphics, the first being a blue w/ VH style red stripes purchased new from Music Lab in Lansing, IL way back in late 79 or 80. John (Hamer) had no recollection of painting it, and both he and Paul didn't remember any color Graphics going out the door, but I owned it (and lost it in Toronto on tour). And there's the above pic of the red Graphic which proves color models did exist.4 points

About two months ago, I was over at Dean headquarters in Tampa, and they were building guitars and they were working on import guitars to ship out. They didn’t say anything to me. I didn’t ask anything about this. I don’t know any details of any of this. I can say, though I’ve talked to two people who work there, and they told me that they are still building painting, cutting and putting guitars out, so there are USA‘s being built, and there are some imports coming in, going out. The parent company does have debt and they have assets that are not equal to the debt. I was surprised to see a marine audio company renting out the majority of their factory warehouse space. They are definitely having issues, but I think they’re gonna be able to come out of this in some shape or form. I have had a great experience working with them for 25 years almost and always been cool to work with. 😎👍❤️🏁4 points

I have used a million-year-old Boss GT-3 - live and studio - for 20 years. It has every Boss effect in it and has never failed to produce usable sounds for every recording fiasco I have attempted. For your home studio, whatever you use will work just fine. If you get a recording contract, you'll be re-recording everything anyways, so don't sweat the small details - get the best take you can with the gear available and make the song come alive. And if that doesn't work, listen to the tones of Billy Gibbons or Jimmy Page. Standing alone you'd think 'what the fuck?'. But in context, there's none better.4 points

Still testing the new forum with @cmatthes and @hikarateboy (who both have jobs). There's still a problem with my access to editing the website itself, which is where the songs would be hosted and posted. I don't have a target date at this time, unfortunately, but that only means that more people should be sending me songs!3 points

I just bought a Trademark 60 in great used shape recently, so I'm only about thirty years behind everyone else.3 points

I would have! I used to play just that pedal E at the beginning of the song at band practice and invariably someone would go "YES!!! Do it!" It's funny how people can recognize a song just from something like that. One of the trademarks of my style was dropping riffs, melodies, or solo quotes from other songs into the song I was playing like they do with this one.2 points

I got one of their "blemished" pickups for a Malcolm Young Gretsch I have. On the sale page they picture the actual pickup you're buying and in my case, I could not see a thing wrong with it. Sounds great too of course.2 points

Hamer 25th Mahogany, some light scratches and nicks but otherwise well cared for 6 lbs 14 oz, frets are in good shape, some light surface wear but no heavy grooving one pot and barrel jack have been replaced and electronics are fully functioning once again. non original hard case but protects it well. too many cases in my spare room thus the sale. $1080 delivered paypal friends and family in the con US. or $1000 cash on a North of Boston/Southern NH pickup (Rt 3/93/495) For any Maine-iacs in the crowd, I can meet at the NH coast if need be.2 points

It's just a paint job, nothing more. They might be relevant if someone has a Noo Wave revival band and/or a closet full of Zubaz.2 points

But seriously though, those are great prices... Thank you for the posting 🙏2 points

Hi Folks, After beating my head against the wall trying to fix a known migration bug effecting attachments in IPS for more than 20 hours. I decided to cut my losses, purchased, installed Xenforo and migrated all of our current data to it. It took a while but its been a SUCCESS and attachments work in the new forum! I'm in the process of validating the content and configuration with the help of Chris Matthes and Kiz. Once that is complete, I will open it up to everyone in parallel to the current board for further testing. Once we confirm its all good hopefully a few days. I will reimport the data from the current forum and swtich us over to the new one. All your ids and log in information and groups (supporter) should work in the new forum. Thanks all for the patience. Its been a journey but I can see the end in sight!1 point

I got a wonderful T-62, and now a Daytona popped up. I am wondering how big the difference is… Does one need both (not from a fanboy/collectors view 😎).1 point

Every Daytona (3 or 4) I've tried has felt super heavy compared to my T62, which is a deal breaker for me.1 point

FYI: I needed some boxes and recently found the equivalent of the small uline boxes on amazon 5 for $43 delivered if you buy a 5 pack on uline I think it's $55 plus shipping ($25 ish) vs $43. These boxes are nice as they're smaller (18 x 6 x 45) which results in a cheaper UPS charge. Probably best for Fender style guitars. If you're shipping say a Gibson Historic, might want to use a bigger box. Also, Shippo has been great (they're like pirateship etc) They're self insured and from what I hear, less weasely than dealing with UPS declared value claims. They're also great for shipping small items (pickups, parts etc) where you can send USPS ground with tracking. I tend not to insure small items under $100 but use your own judgement.1 point

I'm sure quite a few of you have seen this but there is one in Italy for sale that looks like it's in pretty good condition, the white has gone yellow but it's a nice finish and the price is a little more realistic (no affiliation): https://reverb.com/item/93571703-hamer-special-1981-custom-black-and-white-graphics-video1 point

Modelers are designed to sound like recorded guitar tones, in my opinion. To get more of that standing away from the cab thing, you can either have a small room sound and mix some of that in, or if you can have 2 mics, make one back from the cab and blend them to taste. And as always, roll off highs on the cab block, at least to 8k on the cleans and 6k on drive sounds. More if needed.1 point

TV Jones T90 or Gibson custom shop spec'd p90(brass plate). The key to a good p90 growl is shimming the bobbin as close as you can tolerate to the strings, then balance out with adjusting pole pieces.1 point

I found this: ...which is the insides of a PhatCat/Bigsby-equipped Newport. Not sure if that helps you - the tailpiece section would probably to be different.1 point

So I've spent the last few hours diving into these links, the programs featured, and the "How To" points listed. They are all either... Not accurate, due to older versions of iTunes depicted, particularly since it hasn't been called "iTunes" for years Not applicable - the How To points refer to the subscription level of Apple Music. The options are limited for those refusing to pay a subscription. Not necessary. One app helps you transfer files from your computer to your phone, which is easily accomplished with just a USB cable. No app is needed for that. The other app is free to download, but $115 to actually use it. Yeah, no. So, I'm still no closer to where I want to be. It's hard to argue with the Apple hate when you run into shit like this.1 point

WAY back when, Valley Arts made higher end custom guitars. (More or less the same time PRS was getting establiished). For a time, Larry Carlton replaced his signature ES-335 with a Custom Pro. Pretty much a "Strat" with 3 EMG active pickups. Instead of the usual 2 tone pots, it had both an SPC and an EXG. A guitar buddy (Captain in the BH Police Dept) had one built to the same specs. The SPC did indeed let him go from "Strat" to Les Paul". Boost mids, cuts highs. The pot allows you to mix the two types of tones. Meanwhile, the EXG sorta does the opposite, cutting mids and boosting highs and lows. Like the SFC, you can roll in more or less of the effect. Either knob lets you change it up n the fly. Cut thru for a solo, fatten it up, etc. FWIW, LC sounded like LC regardless of what he played. (Dumble or otherwise). David Gilmour famously uses (used?) something similar. I pondered doing the same, but ended up finding a modified Strat already set up the same way. Bought it from a studio musician at a very nice price. It makes for a very versatile guitar. Originals are harder to find and likely further modified. Like this one. https://intl.ishibashi.co.jp/products/03-2800005138436?variant=48725939224828&country=JP¤cy=JPY&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&https://intl.ishibashi.co.jp/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20621308253&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20621308253&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20624663245&gbraid=0AAAAADsxHVtUMZqTY9ZLzhBOc78lnkf1x&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8KTNBhD_ARIsAOvp6DJvVH9eQvDvBt-KRCX4NXuXd13lNqAO8YFzUEVbas7i4URbKFqTKNUaAixjEALw_wcB Anyone so inclined can probably buy a new prewired pickguard that can be easily be swapped into your standard Strat. Look for a DG20 from such as Sweetwater. But I will keep Blackie........Been a LONG time since I used the guitar/synth connection....1 point
