hamerhead Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 We've all done it - sold a guitar and later regretted it. My biggest - and really only - one was a trans-red '94 Daytona with a maple neck: I don't have the serial number, but it had a very distinctive grain pattern on the upper bout contour. There is also a nick in the end of the lower horn where a glass slid off my amp and hit it while sitting in the stand. THAT. Pissed me off (spilled a drink!). I tried to get it back sometime later but it had already moved on. WHERE ARE YOU?? Miss that one..... Which Hamer (Hamers only!!) do you regret selling most and it really gnaws at you? 6 Quote
specialk Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 (edited) '96 T-51. My first USA Hamer. It did everything I wanted, I was just too stupid to know what I had. Edited August 15, 2025 by specialk 6 Quote
veatch Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 ... and every Cali that I've sold. And the Chap. And the Studio. And the Artist. Yeah, pretty much regret selling all of them. 7 1 Quote
kizanski Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I’ve been very fortunate to have had so many guitars that I have had several “the one” that got away guitars. 8 Quote
Feynman Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Same. And I know where they all are, which hurts the most. Spent years giving HFCers family dibs at stupid prices, but when I want one back…**** off, Feynman. I’m not mad at you. Just disappointed. 5 1 Quote
kizanski Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 A few of mine are at @The Shark’s house. 3 Quote
RobB Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Can't think of one I regret selling. That said, I can certainly think of a few I regret NOT buying when prices were low compared to other used guitars. The three I've kept (Protos I/II, graphic Special) I really enjoy and are in regular rotation. 4 Quote
Willie G. Moseley Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 The one-of-a-kind Robin domestic Wedge. Had everything that made vintage or retro guitars so cool---eye-catching unique style, interesting tonewood, surprisingly comfortable standing and sitting, good sound, light weight, et. al. Had to sell it in 2010 to finance a trip to San Diego to an astronaut convention. 5 1 1 Quote

Travis Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I’ve had a few Hamers over the years. Not as many as others here. But some decent ones. I still have 4. 1 each of the Mirage variants and my Talladega. My ‘78 B&C Sunburst would probably be worth the most today. The ones I’ve thought about the most after selling were the ‘78 Sunburst, ‘01 Artist Korina HB (in Jazzburst!), ‘97 hog standard, and ‘95 Special FM in Aztec gold. and the winner is….. ’95 Special FM. That thing was a BEAST of a guitar. It was rumored to have been owned by CC Deville of Poison but never confirmed. Not that the possibility made much a difference to me. Sounded and played awesome. Had a KILLER top. Bought it for $550 and sold it back to the guy I bought it from for $500. 🤦🏻♂️ 6 1 Quote
seeker Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 An Iridescent Centaura on Music go Round. Had just bought another Hamer so let it go, intending to pick one up later. Directed a relatively newbie HFCer who was looking for one to it, who snapped it up. Well, am still Centaurless. Price? $258. DOH. 2 1 Quote
Disturber Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I could have bought a 1969 gold top, no volute, with original paf's, in supreme original condition, for 2000 dollars. I hate myself..... Also a super cool yellow dragon Jim O' Connor Steve Stevens 1 that was in a store for about 1200 dollars. Should have bought it. When I came back it was gone. Never seen one like it. Both these guitars slipped away some +20 years ago. 😕 I also sold my blue Rickenbacker 4002 bass for 200 dollars in the late 1980's. I hate myself..... 1 Quote
Jakeboy Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I regret moving my Special Korina Junior, my 1980 Special, and my Newport. Dumbass. i regret not buying a nice Diablo that was offered to me for yea, $350. Dumbass x2. 1 3 1 Quote

Hbom Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 (edited) I have but one regret. I thought I was too old to buy a Shishkov in the original offering. All the rest have come and gone or are still around. But I'll never have the privilege of saying THIS IS MY SHISHKOV! Edited August 15, 2025 by Hbom 1 Quote
Jimbilly Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 '80s Vector: aged white, with dots, 3 on a side headstock (repaired break/crack) and sustain block, just a plain old Vector. Sold it about 10-15 years ago when I felt I should downsize, for too cheap of course. Sold 2 Calis, a Mirage, Studio Custom in 59 burst (should have kept that one), and a 4 string Chap bass. Maybe one or two others. I should have bought that Scarab 20 years ago that was at a Music Go Round in Bellevue WA for $199 for about 6 months, that one haunts me, but it had a Kahler, - and now I like Kahlers! I regret not buying a Chap Custom when they were affordable, after seeing Eddie Martinez I have always wanted a pearl white one. In all my shopping (pawn and craigs etc), I've never come across a Chap custom guitar, I did find a Chap4 'max'? bass, the one as my signature photo for stoopid cheap. 1 Quote
bruce919 Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I had a 97 PRS Mccarty Goldtop, it had a flamed mahogany neck as well. Very resonate guitar. I know it sold to someone in Washinton State but have not seen it pop up for sale anywhere again. Hamer wise. it would be that Korina Vector with no pickguard that BTMN owns now. 1 Quote
duncans Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Oceanburst Wraptail Studio went to Florida. Can't remember his handle, raised snakes. Beautiful guitar, monster tone! The Superpro too! How could I of! Elduave wanted it back so off it went. Still have the Eclipse. 4 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 My 1951 Gibson L-7C is one that I wish I still had. Those things got expensive! 1 Quote
BTMN Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 1979 4 digit Vector. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! The ONLY one I regret moving on besides a sweet Korina Standard. 8 Quote
