I still cant figure out why there were gouges filled with Bondo where the maple meets the binding. Oy vey.

I wonder if the Bondo was from the factory? I once had a '91 LP Standard that had the body binding spliced together about 2" from the neck on the bass side, near the pickup selector switch--as if they goofed at the factory. I also found about a 3/4" inch gap under one of the frets near the body joint (like 20th fret, give or take), where the fretboard chipped out when the guitar was fretted (I could fit the edge of my thumbnail in there), and it was filled with brown epoxy until that crumbled out. And I was the first owner, bought it new.

That being said, this particular LP is looking great, I really like the top! Once Stike gets done with it, it'll be better than new!

All this talk about refinishing and seeing Stike's work again has reignited my jones for a new finish on my Diablo. Awwwww shoot...

Wow! Great looking top. A subtle 'burst would be killer.

I'd still go back to a GT, but that's just me. I've always wanted one. Looks like ol' Stike is hooking you up! I'm sure it'll look great.

sweet! definitely looks like a classic. I don't get why people do that. Putting a shit veneer on a classic will not make it a standard. NOt to mention that there is nothing long with a classic plain top. The only thing stupider than this is the people who route out LP Deluxe models to fit full-size humbuckers instead of just sticking with the minis.

Ed Roman will re-top that guit'r for ya! Lol!

Im sorry dont get mad at me Kurt!

Oh great Brown one...You test me.....lol!!

If it's just going to be a player anyway and you like the sound and set-up, you could probably just rip the rest of the veneer off, hit it with a sander to smooth things out, shoot some clear over it and call it a day.

Thats what I'm considering...just leaving it as is and just pick paint chips

off between songs/sets...

Just dont eat the paint chips...I know its tough....

That thing is beautiful! Congrats!

Beauty guitar, Kurt.

Creme p/us, nickel hardware. Gold hardware belongs on LP Customs, as God intended. Do what ya do, of course, but I'm just sayin'...
