bubs_42 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I'm changing this search up, I like cool guitars lets face it and I don't think they get much cooler than a Robin. So here is what i'm looking for. Choices #1 Tonemonger, Rosewood Board, Reverse Headstock #2 Ranger, Rosewood or Maple # 3 Rawhide, Rosewood or Maple Fancy Necks are good, Fancy Tops I can do without, vintage colors or sparkle (just not Silver) are welcomed. Bigger Necks are welcomed too. Only option i'm firm on is no facy tops, everything else is negotionable.
Jakeboy Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You gotta have a Strat.....mine is staying, but there are so many available at any given moment, your search won't take long.....a Daytona is easy...it will be good.. Fender Strats are a different story. I wouldn't buy a Fender unless I played it first....my lone exception was my special edition USA Tele in Daphne Blue I bought from Frankie III on this forum. It kills. It took me trying about 20 Strats until I found the one with magic.Oh, I also LOVE a Strat bridge pickup through a cranked amp. Tone knob on that pickup is your friend.
jwhitcomb3 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Not a trivial quest. I've had an American strat, a G&L Legacy, and a Daytona, among others. Yet the one that remains is a MIM with some upgraded hardware. And yes, it's a keeper. I think you just have to keep looking until one speaks to you.
cmatthes Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 If one of my guitars actually speaks to me, I'm running as fast as I can the hell outta the house!
django49 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Still got the G&L Legacy and Comanche (hollow body, flame top) if you lean in that direction.......
cmatthes Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Love my Daytonas, but this Strat really scratches that itch too...
BCR Greg Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 http://www.bcrmusic.com/detail.asp?product_key=754
The Shark Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Significant "V" neck, but not large. Actual Chandler build. Dimarzio SSL 1s in the neck and middle position. SSL 2 in the bridge. Gig bag. $750 shipped.
rj2858 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You can't go wrong with a Daytona, I haven't had a bad one in the 6 I've owned, just finally settled on my favorite 2.If you go Strat - I'd look at a Strat Plus or Strat Ultra - late '80's thru the '90's
Disturber Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You can't go wrong with a T-62 either. They are schweet, and the smaller body makes the extremely comfortable to play.If you can find one that is......
bubs_42 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 I must have struck a nerve. Keep it coming.
BubbaVO Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Sorry dude. You can't have mine. It's a keeper.
murkat Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Significant "V" neck, but not large. Actual Chandler build. Dimarzio SSL 1s in the neck and middle position. SSL 2 in the bridge. Gig bag. $750 shipped. Grab that Chandler, Bubs. yeah... no shit, no brainer. really. no brainer.
cmatthes Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Couldn't agree more. That Chandler is an ass-kicker.
elduave Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Don't sleep on these:http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/USA/guitars/legacy/index.asp
GusS Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 How about a blue SX '57 with lawsuit headstock?
a.bandini Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 If I recall correctly, I've got one of your old ones, but BCR Greg's made me say "Woof" out loud.
conorb Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I have two Daytonas and a '08 American Strat that I've heavily upgraded. The Stat has Lollar pu's, Callaham bridge and trem block, new wiring, locking tuners and white pearloid cover. I also purchased the upgraded twill case when I bought the guitar. Candy apple red and maple board. All original parts included. $800 including paypal and shipping. I am the only/original owner. Conor
cynic Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Is there still a shell pink, rosewood board MIJ Strat w/ Moollon pickups floating around the Nashville area? That's the one I'd be trying to get if I were you.
Bobby Marshall Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 If you like gold hardware that chandler is awesome.
cmatthes Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 If you DON'T like gold hardware that Chandler is awesome!
