LucSulla Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 So I have always, for some reason, found certain trios of songs on albums to be fascinating. I guess maybe it is because two songs back to back isn't so rare, and while four or more back to back is certainly rarer, at that point it is getting to just a full album experience. Three seems like that perfect amount of time to rock out to on the way to the store and back or something similar - enough to get a solid taste without taking up too much time. Here are two groups of three that stand out. I rarely listen to one without the other two as well. AC/DC from Highway to Hell "Shot Down in Flames""Get It Hot""If You Want Blood" Pantera from Far Beyond Driven "Becoming" "Five Minutes Alone""I'm Broken" Anyone else have any go to "trios," or is this my version of biting a guitar?

rj2858 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 The Logical Song Goodbye Stranger Breakfast in America I think I'm beginning to get your sense of humor, or have I yet again misunderstood sarcasm?
rj2858 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Tip 'o' the hat to "hamerhead" and "JimHalinda" with ZZ's "Deguello" album, but a '4-fer'I Thank You / She Loves My Automobile / I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide / A Fool For Your StockingsA couple of albums from A-Smith, another 4-fer;Mama Kin / Write Me A Letter / Movin' Out / Walkin' The Dog, and if not for the unfortunate placement of 'Dream On', Make It / Somebody / One Way Street and 2 triples from 'Toys in the Attic'; Side A - Adams Apple / Walk This Way / Big Ten Inch, and Side B - No More, No More / Round and Round / You See Me Cryin', (yeah, an A-Smith fan who doesn't like either "Dream On" or "Sweet Emotion" - not tired of them, just wasn't crazy about either one going back to when they came out)Finally, if 'Best Of' albums count - Steely Dans' "A Decade of Steely Dan" concludes perfectly with;Kid Charlemagne / My Old School / Bad Sneakers

Toadroller Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Probably could have called this the best first three songs on an album...Alphabetically,Aimee Mann, I'm with Stupid: Long Shot, Choice in the Matter, Sugarcoated, You Could Make a Killing, Superball, Amateur, All over Now, Par for the Course, You;re with Stupid Now, That's Just What You Are. And then she blew the 300 game with Frankenstein, Ray, and It's not Safe.Beatles; pretty much any album, any three. Specifically, Sgt Pepper's, more specifically, Lucy, Getting Better, and Fixing a Hole...The Cult, Electric: Wildflower, Peace dog, Lil' DevilCheap Trick, All Shook Up: Stop this Game, Just Got Back, Baby Loves to RockKate Bush, Hounds of Love, Running up That Hill, Hounds of Love, The Big SkyPretenders, Learning to Crawl: Middle of the Road, Back on the Chain Gang, Time the AvengerTears for Fears, Songs from the Big Chair: Shout, The Working Hour, Everybody Wants to Rule the World
