I've spoken to Paul.

It's not idle speculation on my part.

Word.

Hamer USA has been replaced by Shishkov Custom Guitars USA for me.

Word word.

John, I know you didn't like the spalted Standard but I don't recall anything being screwed up about it. I thought that thing turned out WAY cooler in the flesh than on paper!

What has Washburn done lately? I thought with all the purging of Custom Shop Body's and parts on Ebay that they were not doing any good either at this point and time.

I've enjoyed the spirited discussion herein....

...especially while grabbing up yet another remaining gem from the Hamer line of old.

The top came in nothing as I spec'd . Whereas every piece of wood is unique, I did send multiple pics to Jol showing exactly what my expectations were.

There was next to no spalting and the birth mark as many refer to it, was less than appealing. Still a great guitar, just not what I ordered.

You'll always be my dealer Dave !

I've got one Hamer from the 70s and five from the 80s. It would take a hell of a guitar

to make me buy a new one, esp. if it were an import. I don't know what they think

their market would be?

They don't think anything.

They don't exist.

I wish him all the luck in the world, but he is in his infancy. At the moment he has some HFC momentum, but when that subsides he has to find new customers, which will have a cost associated with it. We all know he did fantastic work as an employee, being a proprietor requires additional skills, only time will tell if he has those too.

Hamer didn't exactly set the bar high with their marketing strategy which appeared to be a full page in Guitar Player,

and an MFG rep that probably had 10 other lines which made him more money.

However, I see a great chance for another THE BOOK here.

Shishkov is Shishkov, and Hamer was Hamer.

Let's not assume anything. If Washburn re-launches the Hamer brand, why not giving them a try? There are very serious players still using Hamer. Washburn can capitalize on them in order to build a new customer base. On the other hand, I've tried some USA-made Washburns and have been favorably impressed. Just hope that, if the brand returns, the price tag will be fair, the quality will be good and the models will be to my tastes.

Guys - seriously.

As far as I've seen, the Hamer properties did not transfer from FMIC along with the other KMC stuff. It looks to me like FMIC has retained that asset. Hamer is the only remaining KMC name conspicuously absent from everything legitimate that I've read about the transfer to JAM Brands.

Hold your horses CM, I don't think research and facts have anything to do with Internet Speculation. Kinda like spelling......

Spelling? What does Tori have to do with anything?

Wasn't she Mr. Ed's stunt double?

Nah......You are thinking of Sarah Jessica Parker.

This made me laugh out loud....

I hope they do relaunch it, why not?

Make Satch and Vai an offer they cant refuse then we get all kinds of New / Old shredders ;)

If anything it will be something to talk about.

I wish someone would just go ahead and make a new "Hamer" so we would have something real to argue about.

Aren't those posts called 'fake Hamer' threads? ;) You could always ask 'Dead Ed' Roman's shop what they've got.

I am with you all the way to the "shredder" part. Relaunch, perhap....? "why not", if they do it with care. But making shredders for old men. No thanks, that train has passed. Make real guitars. Either the models they made in the 70's. or continue with the models they were making before closing the shop. edit for spelling

The problem is that nobody was buying the Hamer stuff at the end, which is a big reason why they closed the doors.

They would have to come in at about half where they were pricing things - and that would probably equal a parallel drop in quality, or even worse, import-only options.

Let's be honest with ourselves here - how many of you would REALLY drop $4,500 for a Californian?
