DBraz Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Among the most exciting Shishkov photos, for me, to date. Oh the anticipation of what happens next!
Sugartune Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yes! Having missed (or rather jumped off) the Ultimate run(s), these are really getting me excited again! Doublecuts are sweetness incarnate.
hamerhead Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Mike - you are fast becoming one of my least favorite people. I was really hoping to retire at some point.
sixesandsevens Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 So, some of the ideas that have been banging around in my head have started to take shape..... DIBS (assuming you sell the protos)!!!!!! I love me some flame maple! I dunno... I sort of feel like a 2" maple cap is a tad much...

veatch Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Just keep sanding down until you hit the mojo...
Boomerang~Junkie Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 ^ ^ That ^ ^ should be easy. So far, it looks like all of Mike's builds are 100% pure, Grade A, MOJO! Hell, the saw dust on his shop floor might make a powerful stocking stuffer.
scottcald Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Wow, these look great, Mike. Is there a semi-hollow in the bunch?
serial Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 The doublecut (and I believe the singlecut) are chambered. The proto headstocks I've seen look great.
velorush Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 The doublecut (and I believe the singlecut) are chambered. The proto headstocks I've seen look great. See, this is where we need some boots-on-the-ground first hand intel from some of you guys that are in the shop regularly. A sort of Shishkov Daily Caller, or Shishkov TMZ thread (with pics, of course)! How about someone sneaks in while Mike is having a 'natural break' and installing a streaming web cam!
atomicwash Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Headstock shot?!?! Please?!?! I love a good headstock.
bubs_42 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 He's not going to give up that morsel yet. Keep pining for more.
BubbaVO Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Wow, these look great, Mike. Is there a semi-hollow in the bunch? How about a true hollow body with low gain p-90ish pups that gives off a ES-355 vibe in a modern package? I know he had hand in bringing the Newport to life back in the day. The man has the skillz...
cmatthes Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I think you'll be surprised. All in a great way.
JGravelin Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Mike and I talk a little sometimes and we both like R&D a lot. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
Bobby Marshall Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Another flavor of pickup in the works?
Tres Aardvarks Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Wow, these look great, Mike. I know he had hand in bringing the Newport to life back in the day. The man has the skillz...Honestly, a hollow body (or semi-hollow) would do a lot to push me over the edge. While I would never tell Mike "hey, redo one of the Hamer designs", it seems from the cult following that the Newport 90 is a desired design. A working man's version(no bling bling) of that might be just the ticket!
Tres Aardvarks Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 LUST!!!!!! But then again, I make no bones about my solid maple Cali being my favorite sounding guitar!!!

Fantastic musings of bringing back a Newport 90-esque, especially in a "working man's" rendition, really just need to be kept to one's self!

JGravelin Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I've been sworn to secrecy and promised not to divulge any details. Enjoy the photo.
