  1. This ‘69 Princeton Reverb was at an independent music store. Didn’t break the bank. It looks as if it was just set aside for years. Really dusty. Had a replacement speaker, which I’ve replaced. It was all original except the power cord, speaker and 2 tubes. 5 of 7 tubes were original RCAs with ‘67 & ‘68 date codes. Has all nos RCAs in it now. I sent the chassis off and had it serviced. Cleaned all the dust bunnies out of the cabinet & cleaned the tolex. Just finished reassembling it and am getting acquainted with it. I had briefly posted pics of it in the “ask the experts” when I was looking for a tech. Apologies if you’ve seen it before. But this time it’s functional. Sorry for the crummy phone pics. Any love for the PR?

  2. I'm a huge fan of the 3 Monkeys stuff! My Sock Monkey is the daily player, and a great "Grab and Go" amp. I've got a Grease Monkey 1/2 stack that is maybe the best sounding amp I've ever played/owned, but just a bit big and loud for everyday stuff. You should love your new amp!

  3. What kills me is the history they just dumpstered. Business decision or not, that was shortsighted, ignorant, and cruel.

  4. Liquidating my collection, and staring with some super rare hard to find Dr Z Amps. These two are super early Hand Wired by Dr Z Himself in his basement shop. First up is “Little Red” this is the earliest Carmen Ghia build you will find. Made from Hammond Reverb Chassis, old iron, all brand new Glass. $1350 https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/dr-z-carmen-ghia-hammond-chassis.2645483/ Next is an early 90’s SRZ-65R. This is a Reverb Head, Doc based these on the JCM800 but Handwired, and tube rectified. $1600 https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/dr-z-srz-65r-large-box-90s.2645475/

  10. I have 2 of these. AB763 Circuit with the swampiest Tremelo Creedance Lovers could ask for. I just don't understand why the Reverb Deluxe and the Twin get so much love but the Bandmaster is the RedHeaded step child. If it's the reverb many pedal reverb units sound better. Compared side by side I like my Bandmaster tone over the Deluxe Reverb and the Twin. It's more aggressive and mid forward, perfect for cutting thru a Drummer and Keys. So what's the thoughts from you guy's??? Why are Deluxe Reverbs $5000.00 now and Bandmasters around $1000.00??? Same parts with 1 minor stage for reverb in the Deluxe. Oh and 6V6 vs 6l6 and the appropriate transformers are different. But it's the exact same circuit!! It's a mystery to me because Bandmasters flat out got some tone!!!

  11. Reduced to £3400. Finally managed to talk myself into putting this up for sale. Ultimate flame top, virtually no fret wear, some very light worming on back but that's about it. Fitted with Bare Knuckle Mules which suit it perfectly. With original case and custom order certificate. Haven't seen another one like this but from what I can remember, it was about the same price as the korina Vectors. Looking for £3800. Would prefer not to ship due to size/packing.

  13. It is the better sounding of the two I have, but the other one was owned by Joe Walsh and toured with the Eagles first American Leg of the Hell Freezes Over Tour and used at the Rock And Roll HOF Induction Concert.

  16. If it's anything like the Cali's, it should have a bolt on- Elite classification for Cali's meant boomers, hog bod, ebony board. Maybe the same applies to Chaps? Set necks, IIRC, were usually custom orders save for pre- '88 Chaps. But those were also 24.75" scale and had slightly more angled head stocks.

  17. Last thing I shipped was a guitar, a couple of years ago, thru the local UPS store. I packed it pretty good. I was asked if it was packed good enough to survive a 6' fall. My reply was "if you or a UPS employee drop it from 6' it's not my problem". I know that they will make it my problem, but the look on her face was priceless!

  18. That guitar is GORGEOUS, Chris! @bry4321 Congrats on your new amp, should be a little tone machine! Packing an amp... I'm thinking that if I ever need to ship an amp, I'll grab a couple cans of spray foam, wrap/seal the amp in plastic, and get creative.

  20. Made in USA. This a a factory made Carvin, not one of their kits. Used condition. Alder body, maple neck, ebony fretboard with Carvin dual rail pickups. Sounds and plays great. Frets are in great condition. Wilkinson Trem is set to dive only and stays in tune very well. Includes the trem bar but it's not original to the guitar. Includes original hardshell case. Weight 7.4 lbs on digital pet scale. Has Original Carvin Dual Blade PUs. As far as I can tell this is how the PUs work. Bridge & neck are normal, the middle sounds like it's wired out of phase. It's quieter and thinner sounding. I believe the mini toggle turns on the bridge PU no matter where you have the 5-way switch set. The PUs sound great. Like a fatter single coil or a bright humbucker. Some scratches & dings. One small spot on the bottom has been touched up with blue nail polish. Here are the specs Carvin/Kiesel sent me according to the serial number: 2001 Carvin Bolt-T (T = Wilkinson Tremolo) Pearl Blue Triple Carvin Twin Blade pickups Alder body Maple neck Ebony fretboard Graphite reinforced neck w/dual action truss rod 25.5” scale $SOLD$

  26. So since May 2011, more years than not, I've led a study abroad program in Europe for a month. I started taking a guitar with me in 2014, a baby Taylor. Unfortunately, that guitar started falling apart in the last few years, and since I like it a lot, I stopped taking it on trips. Last year, I bought a Blackstar Carry On. It's actually not a bad little guitar, but it is a little guitar. I also found myself getting into more situations where people wanted me to sit in on stuff when I had an electric, but I never could for obvious reasons. The Carry On is a fine guitar for noodling, but it's not something you'd really want to play seriously. It kinda keeps your callouses hard, but because of the short scale, strings just feel like rubber bands. So it was better than nothing - a lot better to be honest - but It still wasn't a real guitar though. I saw an Ibanez Q54 for pretty cheap and decided to give it a shot. Believe it or not, it's a super cool guitar. The neck is great. I've never owned an Indonesian guitar, but I'm happy that the good things I hear about Ibanez's Indo production are true. Pickups are solid too. Pretty good for high gain stuff and fantastic for cleans. It's actually a tad smaller in length that the baby Taylor even with the full 25.5" neck. Overall, the gig back is about the same width and length, but quite a bit slimmer. I never had a problem throwing the Taylor in an overhead, and I suspect this one will be even easier. Plus the last two inches or so of the gig bag can be folded over. Overall, happily surprised with this guitar. I'd be 100% fine taking it to a real gig. I'm really excited to have a real instrument to play for a month this time around.

  27. I have the Q52, I dig it. Actually bought it because we were talking about headless guitars here on HFC, and I was probably bored on a 24 hour shift so I started perusing thru GC.com used stuff. The pups were just ok on mine, and I don't like 5 ways switches because when I'm singing and playing and I go to swap pups I often wind up in the wrong position, ha. I had my tech swap it all out w/ DiMarzios & a 3 way switch. If you need a gigbag there are 32" gun bags on amazon that work great Amazon.com: DULCE DOM 32/36/42/48/52 inch Double Rifle Case Soft Bag Gun Case, Perfect for Rifle Pistol Firearm Storage and Transportation, All Around Shooting Range Tactical Rifle Backpack, Indoor Outdoor : Sports & Outdoors

  29. Though I've never owned one, thinking back, I've never heard a negative comment. Closest I've ever gotten was a splendid Mesa Subway Blues - at least in spec, a very close analog (EL84s though).

  34. I've seen comments in other forums that a fair amount of these could be DOA (shitty builds). Check them out in person (play them)and buyer beware lol... it's not like manufacturers dump defective goods at GC

  35. Credit due to Jol Dantzig who had the foresight to document all these C/O builds. I used to watch the Hamer Workshop blog on a daily basis to see what was going on in the shop. What other company can any of us think of that did weekly blogs showing closeup views of current C/O's being built. Sure, many companies would add a few pictures or video on their websites and maybe a walkthrough on YouTube or an occasional gear rundown (Gibson, PRS, MusicMan, Martin, etc.) but where else could you go and see pictures and commentary on Your C/O as it was happening?
