Glen Campbell "I"ll Be Me"

I saw this movie last night. What a beautiful and sad story. If you haven't seen it, please do. The man and his family are very brave to put that film out there. He had a great life and I love the way they celebrated it.

Obligatory Hamer content..........Glen plays a 12 string Hamer. It was blue, sorta Monaco shaped, firebird pickups (like an Eclipse), crown inlays. Paging NEWMAN.......do you remember building that one? I would guess its around a 1996. Tons of Ovations throughout the movie.

I believe Glen was recently placed in a nursing facility. I hope he and his family are ok.

The guitar was a one-off 12-er, a but more toward purple than the pic shows. I understand he's been in a nursing home for a while now. Great talent on his own and he played on zillions of records. Sorry to see him doing the Long Goodbye.

The missus & I saw that back this summer. Very touching.

He was a guitar badass! Back in the 70s I saw him on TV cutting heads left and right on some Awards show where different people were taking solos in a big finale. He and George Benson went at it and Campbell was RIPPING! He whipped everyone that night.

Saw the same show, He kicked everyone's ass that night. I saw a later show where he made Carlos Santana look silly.

I would very much like to see it, and if anyone knows of any streaming service that currently has it I'd be grateful for the information.

It doesn't appear to be showing at more than a half-dozen theaters across the nation, with nothing scheduled for SoCal.

You haven't seen this guys? My wife's granddad had Alzheimers...

She will not watch this video or listen to the song...

I can dig that.

Always liked Glen Campbell myself. Heard that Rhinestone Cowboy stuff plenty while growing up.

CNN is a good place to look......Might well be available "On Demand" for free.

Watched it last night. Heartbreaking. My uncle died of Alzheimer's a couple of years ago and like Glen, he went from being the nicest guy you ever met to angry and paranoid until he had to go to a nursing home. I'll never forget when I realized how bad it was - we were at an anniversary dinner for my parents and he asked "Where's Tommy?". I was sitting across from him and he was looking right at me.

I remember an episode of Glenn's TV show where Al Hirt was the guest. Must have

been before I was playing guitar. Glenn was playing a soldibody Ovation, must have been

through a fuzz box, and he was trading off with Al. Unbelievable!

And yah, my Mom died from Alzheimer's too. Lucky for her she went from mean old

lady to sweetheart when the disease hit. I like to hope that helped her final years in

the nursing home...

We saw 'I'll be Me' a couple weeks ago. What a monster talent, but when he started forgetting his kid's names it got real sad real fast. I'm a little surprized he's still hanging on, but he seemed to be in good physical shape. Damn what a tough thing.

I thought it was a great documentary. I'll tell you, I really admire his wife. He definitely is blessed with friends and family that love and support him. It's worth the watch.

Wow, can't believe I did not add to this post.   I need to thank Mirrorimij for posting about the documentary.   After seeing this post, we watched the show on one of those streaming services.   Great, great documentary and yes, very hard to watch.

Glen Campbell was one of those guys that was everywhere in the late 60's and 70's as well as Roy Clark who is just a badass guitar player.

"Wichita Lineman" is one of those songs Jim Webb wrote that has endured.   Johnny A. did a nice cover of it on his "Sometime Tuesday Morning".

For Christmas, I purchased several Glen Campbell's CDS for the wife for Christmas.    It was great to take a trip down memory lane.

If you haven't seen the movie, I would recommend it.

Best wishes,

Hamerica

This tune off his last album, Ghost On The Canvas, features Billy Corgan, Brian Setzer, Rick Nielsen, and Marty Rifkin. It's called There's No Me… Without You:
