Now that I have #0108, It's time to let go of #0072. No need to be a hoarder. I'm listing it only here first.

SOLD $3,900 (NOW $3,500) shipped. Buyer pays payment fees, if any. Not looking for trades unless you have a Hamer Triple Threat.

I am, I believe, the 2nd owner of this Shishkov DC Semi Hollow. Some mods were made, but all original parts are also included:

  • Pickups changed to Lollar mini firebirds. Original Lollar P90/Staple set w/ cream covers included.
  • Tuners changed to Grover locking, original mini Schallers included.
  • Wraparound bridge changed to Schroeder, original Faber bridge included.

It's in excellent shape, frets show no wear and plays and sounds just as you would expect from a Mike Shishkov built guitar.

Incudes OHSC and Shishkov swag (stickers, picks and buttons).

Wow! Bet it would sound great with the original pickups too.

Geeze that is beautiful. I wish I could get on his build list. I've never even gotten a reply from an email.

This was almost my experience as well. Got some replies at first, but then got ghosted

This guitar looks amazing! My revealed preferences are that I love semi hollow guitars, and the top/color on this one is stunning. Good luck with the sale!

Mike posted that he had stopped taking new orders and deposits until he could clear out the backlog.  As far as I know, that’s still the status.

The amount of emails, social media messages and post inquiries that he and Trish have gotten is pretty staggering.

That's why I jumped on @kizanski's "99" when it was offered. It was pretty close to the specs I wanted in a build. Plus with the wait time, heck I'd probably be in my 70's with a backlog goin' on. From what I hear, Mike is a one man show and that's a time consuming task in itself.  If #0072 has the specs to your liking, this is the best chance to get a Shishkov and is probably the  ONLY place to get one  A.S.A.P.

I am going to echo the "Buy one when someone is cutting one loose" recommendation. There is just no way that Mike can satisfy the demand. When I talked to him over 2 years ago, I could tell he liked my ideas for a new order for one, maybe two, guitars that would push the boundaries just a little and be great stablemates for my #88. But he got back to me shortly thereafter and said he could not book my order. MAYBE I am on a "We will call you if/when we get the troubling backlog worked off". Or maybe not. What I read into it was that he felt the tension of trying to please everyone but knowing he would necessarily have people on hold, as anxious as they would certainly be, for a backlog of 2 years and steadily increasing. All of which no doubt caused him some anxiety.

I do not know how long the queue is, but I know I would be very anxious if I was trying to make people happy while they waited so long.

FWIW, another great builder, Scott Walker, also seems to have stopped taking orders, with a wait list of at least FOUR years. As much as I like his guitars, it is incredible that the demand keeps growing as prices (apparently) now start at 5 figures. And one other guy I would love to have build something for me stopped booking new orders 4-5 years ago, I think.....I know he wanted to avoid making people wait, thereby putting more anxiety on himself.

I did get an opportunity to get something similar built elsewhere, along the lines of what I chatted about with Mike. Amazingly enough, it took only 10 weeks to get it. No, it is NOT as special as what we have come to expect from Mr. S. but it is a decent placeholder and matches up well, playing and looks wise, with # 88. I would go with another Shishkov to my specific specs in a heartbeat, but I am already into my 70s, so there is that reality. Shoot, I don't even buy green bananas any more!

If this one was closer to what I was looking for, I would not hesitate at this asking price!

I will add that I ended up getting very close to what I wanted, which was a korina slab with a single P90, though it is double cut that is a minor detail. My ideal would be korina slab, single cut with two P90s but the special is scratching my itch.

Mike has an incredible looking SC Custom on his IG page and if the opportunity ever presents itself that would be my order.

Neck profile??

I have an ultimate that is a perfect chunky neck. Is this one skinny, medium, chunky??

I completely forgot to include the neck measurements, sorry about that.

The neck is very comfortable and on the medium/large side C shape with the following measurements:

Width - 1.71" at the nut, 2.04" at the 12th fret

Depth - 0.90" at the 1st fret, 0.98" at the 12th fret

Weight is 7.3 pounds.

Siding is your friend in this case.  If your house looks like you are taking care of it, there might be good stuff inside for thieves to check out.  If your house looks bad, no one will suspect that you can buy such a nice guitar, so it will be safe.

See?  The Shishkov is the right choice!

Awesome guitar, there's much to be said for the shape of the body, I think it is so elegant, the flame is amazing and there are only so many Shishkovs out there.

I wouldn't mind a 2nd Shish and tried to talk to Mike and Trish but they are obviously very busy with the orders they already have. Plus, shipping has gone up and customs etc., otherwise I would be all over this one.

Mike isn’t taking on new orders at present, so this might be the best opportunity for quite a while…
