I was working on #0091 tonight and was struck with this ingenious solution that Mike came up with to meet my request. I couldn't remember if I had posted about it here before... What do you do when you want it built like a spruce top/mahogany back Newport 90, but want to be able to access the control cavity from the back? If you cut in a cover plate, it will be visible thru the f-hole from the front, so Mike friction fit the cut out piece from the back, then mounted it to a regular metal cover. Looks like a normal cover plate for a solidbody from the back... And nearly invisible from the front. Thanks again, @Northfield10 points

It traveled from 2014-2020. Not sure how many miles but I know it brought a ton of smiles and good comradeship across the lower 48. ππβ€οΈπ9 points

Started life as a β77 Sunburst. Neck and headstock completely broken off. I wanted to repair it but gave up. Sent it to Murkat. He did not give up.5 points

Mr. Wanchick also had a black single pickup/Sustainblock Standard - I remember seeing that one on SCTV years and years ago ('82), when the guitar was new. An HFC'er owns that one now.4 points

Sad news. In the 70βs, Great White was originally called Dante Fox, a local cover band in the San Gabriel Valley. They were known for their nuts-on renditions of Zep and Priest songs. They eventually got management and changed their name. An independent EP was released which got enough airplay to get them a major label recording contract. I saw them open for Judas Priest in 1984 at the Long Beach Sports Arena on the, βDefendersβ¦β, tour. They kicked some serious ass! Iβve always admired Kendallβs playing. Although he can rip, he always seemed to play for the song, kind of like Mick Mars in a way.4 points

I have been on a bit of a roll these last 30 days. First, I bought Ernie's SG Junior, then last week I picked up Don's amazing Talladega, and today I have this really clean and flamey Phantom Custom inbound. I owned one of these Phantom Customs for four or five years and shed it when I sold about half of my "collection" to gather cash for three surgeries in a row. The Phantom, my Junior, the Camstone Duotone, two Superpros, a Duotone Custom, the Newport Filtertron, my Special LE (Mr. Quilty), and a bunch of others. I went from 40-plus guitars to 15. The Phantom Custom I had is one that I have truly missed. It has tonal options unlike any other guitar I've owned. So I have been watching for one. This beauty was on Reverb, and the seller recently dropped his asking price substantially, so I pulled the trigger. Here I am with my old one, and then a couple of picks of the one shipping today from Massachusetts. Just ordered a Chicken Head knob for the pickup selector. I seem to recall it has four or five settings. Can't tell where it's set without the Chicken Head.3 points

So a friend of mine is seling a Hamer Special in red. Someone gets in touch who has a couple of 80s Specials himself. Turns out he's someone I sold a b&w Hamer Special to a couple of years ago. And then I find out he recenlty bought a 1980 Hamer Special in opaque blue with a MATCHING HEADSTOCK from the first owner. I tell him to get get in touch should he ever consider selling it. Guess what, now it's mine. It wasn't cheap but it is in great condition, has had a fret dressing, has a nice medium neck, plays and sounds great. I believe the paint is all original, no undercoat, no other paint in the control cavity or under the trussrod cover). The body contour is slightly different to my 1981 Hamer Special, the lower cutaway less pronounced, so cool, I love it!3 points

IF it was reversed head, H/S, not quite so knackered and I hadn't just dropped $5K on a new custom shop Jackson, I'd be all over it.1 point

Mac or PC? On Mac go to system settings> Displays> Color Settings and choose a different profile or create a custom one with the "Custom" setting.1 point
