  1. I'll be back on stage for the first time since 2017. If you like the idea of a band that sounds kinda like The Georgia Satellites playing Motorhead covers then you'll like us.

  2. Trying hard to refocus my mind and energy today. Brought out Elvis to play Loudly. Those 30 minutes felt great. Think I might have to do it again in a minute. BTW I can’t unsee him now. Look closely and tell me if you see him. Lion or monkey not sure what Rorschach, or what ever his name is, would say. 👀😄😵‍💫

  3. After the, “Lovedrive”, tour (ca. 1980), Klaus was diagnosed with nodes on his vocal cords. After surgery, his options were quitting or learning to properly sing. He was assigned an opera coach and spent the good part of the year relearning his instrument. Y’know, I was just spinning, “Blackout”, today and, yikes, that dude could effing BRING IT. He still had it in (appx) 2000 at the SF Cow Palace, “Moment of Glory”, show I teched. “Still Loving You”, and, “Holiday”, with a symphony orchestra? Bitch, pleeease!

  4. If it had a Sustain Block I would have bought it rather than posting it! 😏

  7. Why did Hamer build a guitar with so many images of my mother?

  9. No affiliation. 1978 Boogie Mark I at DGS, still has the old Dyno-type labels on the back of the chassis: Mark I - 1x12" Combo, 1978 – Dave's Guitar Shop

  13. He was one of those guys who always looked really happy to be up there playing. Solid, supportive player. Glad I got to see him back in the Scorpions heyday.

  14. I've had that black text on black background problem forever and just swiped over the post window like I was going to copy it so it would highlight it and I could read it. I had mentioned this before on here no one seemed to know what I was talking about. I had no idea I was on the Bravo theme. I switched to the default and it literally made me recoil from the bright whiteness, but now I can read OP's post too. Edited 1/28: I had to switch back. That white theme is way too bright for me. 😎

  20. When did Vintage Orange become “Cherry Red”? Is this that “Sparkleberry” guy who just makes up finish names?

  21. This is a badassed band, people! A medical procedure that afternoon is the only thing stopping me from driving down from DC. I’ve done it before and will do it again, just not for this one. Go - you won’t regret it.

  22. I didn't want to start a new thread and this one seems to have wound itself down, so, a follow up on a comment I made early on: I bought a chambered mahogany body on Reverb. I also bought a set of those Hipshot staggered tuners I like so much. The body was in Wisconsin and the tuners were in Philadelphia. The shop owner and I spoke about getting the body out of Wisconsin before the freeze hit - he shipped it right out and it was supposed to be delivered Saturday, just before it set in. The tuners, as best I can tell, are still in Philadelphia, though I am not really concerned about cold affecting the tuners. I am hoping the poly on this Mexican Fender body is flexible enough to handle the change in temperature. I might have this by Wednesday and will likely leave it in the box for a day or so in the house. The plan is the eventually refinish the body, but it would be great to get a proof of concept with the Filtertrons before all that. If all goes well and we eventually thaw out I hope to put the router to it and post some progress pics.

  25. I checked these out last week. The Phantom and Daytonas were all too heavy for my liking--I'm dealing with some long term back issues so weight can be a deal breaker, generally speaking. The Daytonas played decent and looked to be in good condition, although I didn't really scrutinize them. My only experience with bolt-neck Hamers is my T-62, so I was kind of surprised at how heavy the Daytonas were.

  26. Just a head's up to you Florida Hamer fanatics. I'll be exhibiting about 15 to 20 guitars at the Orlando Show this year. Booth will be "DR's Guitars". My bass player will also be bringing some cool stuff. Stop by and introduce yourself. It would be nice to have more than one Hamer Forum member that I've met in person (Thorn)!!! I'll be posting pics of the guitars in the For Sale Section at some point, in case any of you guys are interested before the show. Only two or three will be Hamers though. Oh, boy!

  27. I had a iic+ hardwood and matching extension cab. Made some $$ on that. Now have a lovely koa IIA and it is fabulous. That said, I like that Mark I. But like a hole in my head….. Do you like your neighbors?

  29. I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something cuz I'm a huge Montrose fan, but I thought that sucked... except for the instrumentals, like Frankenstein and Town without pity... I'm pretty sure that singer ruined it for me... 😭 But thanks for sharing 👍

  30. The Kids In The Hall! C'mon! It even has the perfect title and band name for the show! "Having an Average Weekend", performed by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet

  32. I didn't think Klaus and Sir Paul were terrible - would need to hear a longer clip to gauge. I won't judge a voice crack on an aging singer. They both still sound better than me...

  36. Correct Mile is in the Trust, but that is a side project. Please check out his music. Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts. He got his dad’s writing genes for sure. Miles Nielsen Presents The Rusted Hearts is in my top 10 favorite albums, I’ve seen him life 5 times.

  37. I like Dave's singing better than Hetfield's. Actually, I like everything about Mustaine better than Hetfield.

  38. I always thought that the name "Slammer" did a disservice to the Hamer name since it furthered the mispronunciation (and spelling) "Hammer" for the USA models. No wonder no one outside of Hamer fans knew what they were called, where they were made, if they were still made, etc. They should have been called Slamers. Or not made at all. Probably that last part.

  40. A probe and a Meter. Don’t do it by ear, tubes are too expensive to guess. The probe and a meter will cost you less in the long run. Too hot and your tubes wont last. Too cold, it’s going to sound steril and way too low is going to starve components and cause failure. I bias my own amps, because I’m cheap. You really don’t need a probe but it’s safer.

  41. 0063, 0092. When I ordered Ultimate 0063 in 2015, the serial numbers were in the 60s. I requested 0063 in honor of my wife’s birth year, 1963 (she passed away in 2014). Two years later, my daughter and I went on an epic Texas-Connecticut road trip to Shishkov HQ and picked it up in person on Monday, July 10, 2017. While we were there, I was able to select the wood for the top of DC 0092, which was delivered by FedEx on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at 9:07 AM.
