Pretty sure I saw that one from photos of a storage unit some guy outside of chicago bought. He posted for values on a Facebook Hamer Group a bout 1-2 weeks ago. I can't find the post any longer but there were 3 Korina - a junior that looked like that, a Korina V / Vector, and a limited korina artist. There was also a few others, including the green artist he has up for sale too, I think.2 points

No shit, Sherlock. There’s a lot to unpack here with a typically long Django post, but I stand by my snark.2 points

Ebay is chock-full of interesting korina Hamer offerings right now. My favorites are the two listings for korina Artist P90s "made in 1990..." with the same guitar and pics from different sellers in Japan.2 points

I'm sure this has been said before elsewhere (besides being just plain common sense), and I think that it's been mentioned in amp-related literature, too; but if you're gonna 'improve' on a vintage amp by irreversibly monkeying with the cab, do it with a new/replacement cabinet, not the original cab! Joe might like to treat his vintage gear as if they were disposable, but I don't know of anybody else who would do or could afford to do that.2 points

SO fulla shit! Great, now dorks clad in their (OLP) JB bathrobes are going to devalue their vintage combos. Remember to crank your Variacs up to 180v!2 points

I ordered this strap from Souldier a few years back after @cmatthes had his cool checkerboard straps produced by Couch. It’s a nice, hardly used strap but it’s not as cool as the @cmatthes straps. Here’s the proposition: Any HFC Member who donates 10$ or more to the HFC will be eligible to win the strap, with the winning name to be drawn by me. If you donate and win, I will cover the cost of the postage (Domestic US Only). to ship the strap to you. I’m hoping to achieve at least 4-5 10$ HFC donations from this Raffle. Submit donations via PayPal to At HFC@hikarate.com READY, SET, DONATE. The Deadline to make a donation and be eligible for the giveaway is Sat 21 Mar at 6 PM PDT. I will make the drawing on Sun 22Mar ETA: IF YOU MAKE A DONATION, PLEASE POST TO THIS THREAD, SO THAT I CAN KEEP TRACK of the eligible names. TIA! Good Luck1 point

For a while I've been thinking that if I ran across a nice Junior at a fair price, I'd jump on it. One showed up this morning on eBay. Good price, but the seller's feedback made me say "not today". So here it is. I hope one of you has bigger gonads than this old man. And that the seller is better than his feedback suggests. 1999 Hamer USA Special Junior P90 Electric Guitar Natural Finish + Hard Case | eBay Good luck1 point

Well, so far nothing is deviating from exactly what I was told to expect before I ever paid the first dollar, and he is a cool guy. He spent a lot of time taking with me about his misadventures with Marcus King and Brent Hinds when I ordered it and had me cracking up. Basically, he said it would be a year, and his FAQ asks to not flood him with emails because generally the answer is "you're in the que." When I've had a couple of questions about money or when I do check in every couple of months just to see if it's still looking like September, he's quick to respond and always affable. So, at the moment, if I bitched about anything, it would be because exactly what I was told to expect is what is happening. It's just him and his wife doing everything, so I feel like that's all fair.1 point

While I'm pleased to see Hamer guitars finally getting their recognition as really great instruments, the prices on some of them are insane what some sellers are asking. So, the question was "Who's Buying"?, at the prices shown at the beginning of this post............ no one.1 point

That was a sunburst, Epiphone Casino. He said it, “opened up the sound”, or some such. I can see that, but removing the finish probably didn’t protect the guitar much from the elements afterwards. He did the same thing to his second J-160E. He eventually had The Fool paint it with a wavy, groovy psychedelic finish.1 point

“Guitar builders”…🙄. Buncha over-promising, under-delivering WEIRDOS, every one of ‘em. I’ll never again commission another custom guitar. Just not worth the hassle and frustration.1 point

No clue! lol I'm still on pace to have it done in a year, which means end of the summer, but I know he hasn't started yet.1 point

Pretty sure that what he said was that he had an amp (that he particularly liked the sound of) from which the cab was stripped BEFORE he got it. And also compared some of the oldest Fender amps from before they started using tweed, then tolex. I am guessing that even someone with as deep pockets as he must have would be disinclined to mess around that much.....Certainly appears that, if he wants something bad enough, he will just have his minions go out and find it in the open markets. And he has the marketing backup to come up with yet another "reissue" of old classics if there is a market. (See the Clapton reissues and the more recent Fuchs ODS JB edition). As there must clearly be for those that think he has the magic touch (or ears)......Witness also the reverse engineered copies of the pickups of vintage guitars that he deems particularly wonderful. Not exactly the magic fairy dust I feel a need to chase, but Seymour is making a big deal of them.😉 But, FWIW, the recent Suhr guitars with the torched bodies, roasted maple necks and zero layers of finish do win acclaim for their "better" tone and resonance. Sorta like the improvement (IMO) when PRS stopped coating their guitars with deep layers of polyester and urethane. Def improvements since about 2008...... Is there a magic Bonamassa guitar pick out yet? Hey, for only $12.99 you too can be like Joe! 🫢1 point

@zorrow introduced me to them the other day. I found it interesting although I wouldn‘t listen more often I think. I‘m rather waiting for Queen II 2026 remix to arrive by the 27th. Can‘t wait to hear the original guitar orchestration decyphert in some way.1 point

To further the thought I asked OpenAI to guess what my reaction would be to this band based upon previous chats. It came back with this, and I think it pretty much nailed my opinion: "I love it for about 20 minutes. After that, it feels like homework."1 point

Like the old saying goes, 'Askin' ain't sellin'. On a semi-related note, Fender just introduced their new 75th anniversary Tele collection, none of which list at anywhere near cheap when new: Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Telecaster Collection – Fender The only one I really like is the MIM '51 Road Worn Vintera Tele...but at US$1899 list, I think I'll wait a few years for a used one. Maybe. Nice to see that Fender can now offer it with a solid Ash body now, though that'll make it even more spendy: The more I see prices go up, the more I like my old mutt partscasters.1 point

One of my rare claims to fame is that I have history with the original which was still all-black at the time. It was 1975 so I'd only be 16 years old. In my town, there was an old 1920's dance hall which had been converted into a swanky nightclub which was always stone-dead empty on a Thursday night, so the club owner decided to experiment with a 'Rock Night' featuring a live band. One of these bands was UFO, unknown to practically everyone in the place at the time, but just having released their seminal 'Force It' record. MS was playing a black Gibson V which was subsequently painted by his roadie in the famous two-tone scheme using masking tape and a white rattlecan. Andy (Sneap) and myself talked to MS about this over several backstage beers we shared with hin at a festival we played (Leyendas Del Rock in Alicante, Spain) and he confirmed that it was the same guitar. He told us that he still had it, that he'd never part with it, and that it would never go back out on the road because it was too special and too precious a part of his history to risk being damaged. He also said that it was still the best-sounding V he'd ever played. He also referred to his then-current Dean V's as 'throwaways' ..........1 point

Bump. This one is coming right up. It's looking like a gumbo & wiener weekend, and after recent snowfall (LOTS of it), it's supposed to hit 70 degrees on Saturday. Woo hoo! Party starts at 4:00pm, music starts at 6:00pm and there are 6 bands on the bill, each playing a 5 song set, with the jam to follow.1 point

When I was a kid, every dad in my neighborhood had this album at the top of their record stacks. For YEARS.1 point

This came out when I was a kid, and I really haven't looked at it since, although the songs have been present (not least because of being unavoidable for a long stretch). Looking at it now, after a career that involved a decent amount of work-related travel and hotel stays, the first thing that comes to mind is that someone must have pulled the fire alarm. Then you look closer and everyone is too completely dressed for that to be the case. But the crowd waiting for the all-clear to go back to their rooms is something I've experienced more than once, and it looks pretty much like this.1 point

I'm having a hard time thinking of any album in which the album cover was much of any influence. The music, sure. The bands, sure. The albums, sure. The cover? Most of my favorite music I borrowed from friends and copied to cassette, so the album covers were never an issue at all. That said, the album cover I've spent the most time staring at, and the one that I have the most copies of (multiple CD pressings, re-releases, remasters, DVDA, multiple vinyl pressings, 180g vinyl and even on a t-shirt) would be the Hotel California album.1 point

While not necessarily my favorite album as a kid, I probably spent too much time lusting after the checkerboard Standard on the back cover...finally acquired an all-mahogany 4-Digit (#0703) that was the perfect candidate for the conversion and let Stike and Shane go to town on it. Dream realized 35 years later!1 point

My love for music started with this vinyl album I bought on my 14th birthday 1972 for 29 German Marks (= € 15) at our local music store. Everything was exotic and a revelation to me: the music, the foldout cover, the artwork, even the smell. I played it with 16 revolutions per minute on my dad's turntable (Swiss Lenco L75) checking out and copying the riffs of Mick Taylor thinking it was Keith! Still got it, listen to it at least twice a year and would miss every crack. Only the enclosed postcards are missing, sent them trying to convince my friends... Great article about it's graphic history, his name is HAMERsveld: https://bestclassicbands.com/rolling-stones-exile-cover-art-van-hamersveld-8-10-21/1 point

Let's take a minute to consider how this video is taking over the internet. 1,200,000 views in 12 days. And 10,000 comments. Seems a lot of people are sharing this video with their friends. The comments are gold, by the way. "It's abundantly clear that these guys are on the frontlines of whatever this is." "This is the Future we were Primused" "Finally, music 2 has dropped" "when even the riff has a french accent" "Best sounding salt and pepper shakers on the current market"1 point

...chest pain, discomfort, or pressure caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle... Reminds me of when I was a kid and was playing King Crimson's "Discipline" on a loop. On one occasion, when the title track was playing, my mother called to me from the other room. "Michael...what is that?" "It's King Crimson" "Well it's making me nervous!"1 point
