I feel fortunate. Nothing new to share though. Feel free to reply with some of your own favorites, even if you have already shared them. And Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate.9 points

speaking of crazy, pulled this out of the case this morning and decided I'm not selling it anymore. I waited too long to find an artist this nice, and I'm gonna keep it for now.6 points

I play with Artimus and his band periodically. We are under the same management and booking. My Allman Bros tribute band, Soulshine, does package shows with them and it’s always a blast. Uncle Artimus is the real deal and one of my favorite humans, and Barry Lee is also the real deal and such a sweetheart. I’ve learned a lot about a lot of things from them and particularly their sound guy Russ T Nutz. The shows always sound *Really Good* and it’s a total Love Fest. I look forward to the next one. If anyone has any questions about the production aspect or anything behind the scenes I’m happy to help if I can.3 points

That's exactly what I intend to do. It gives me one more plate to spin to add to the overall outsound. I used to have an acoustic on a stand. This is going to be fun!!!!3 points

Some of you asked about what’s that white V with one pickup and a semi-hollow body, so this is for you gearheads: A friend of mine, who isn’t exactly a luthier but is skilled with his hands and has built several guitars, built this guitar for me, based on a 67 V. It’s built from leftovers and low-grade wood, so nothing fancy here. It’s all cheap mahogany, both sides of the body are rather thick planks, not even one piece per side, so it’s a semi-hollow that actually isn’t, as there’s no special acoustic considerations whatsoever. And the F-holes are just for the looks, of course. Ah, and being the body so light, it tends to neck-dive. The fretboard is made of the cheapest wood he had in his workshop. It’s maple, but intended for furniture, not guitars. The best part is the finish. The thick coat of ivory white paint he used is very resistant, and it has aged beautifully. Now, the hardware is something else. I installed it, myself. It has Gotoh locking tuners, a TonePros TOM bridge with roller saddles and a steel trussrod cover with “Custom” engraved on it, which I bought on eBay. The pickup deserves to be mentioned separately. It’s a Nova Omnia G6 H, German-made. After experimenting with different combinations, I ended up wiring the coils in parallel. Perfect tone, not so hot, rich and focused. For more information about these pickups, click here: https://www.nova-pickups.com/products/omnia?variant=48045200179537 Luckily, this aberrant guitar resulted in being a very comfortable instrument which feels great in my hands and that also sounds amazing. It has become my favorite guitar to play. As a final touch, I found a sticker of an ugly duck in a public bathroom, took it with me and placed it on the back of the headstock of this guitar. So, that’s it. Hope you enjoyed the story and the guitar p0rn. 👊😎2 points

Greasy smell of fried chicken, Wafting out of the air... Up ahead in the distance, I saw a big neon light.... My eyes grew heavy and my stomach growled, I had to stop for a bite.... There she was in the distance....She was really big as Hell I wasn't sure if it was her or the chicken that I smelled Then she held out a menu and she showed me the way There were voices down the corridor.....Thought I heard them say.... Don't eat the chicken cacciatore Its got a lovely smell, but it'll burn like Hell If you eat the chicken cacciatore.....Any time of year (any time of year) Get your stomach pumped here.... It is a kick to see how long before the audience catches on.....2 points

I finally saw Skynyrd a couple years ago. It was before Rossington died, but he wasn’t on the tour at that point. Afterwards, I said to my buddy (who is a longtime fan), “Well, I finally saw Skynyrd, but did I really?” He said, “You didn’t.” I’m hesitant to hit some of these bands with the “tribute” label. Members change - I get that. But at some point, doesn’t it really stop being the same band? We used to joke about how some of the oldies/doo-wop groups would come to town and there was nobody in the band you’d ever heard of, and we’d say, “At least the bands we really like aren’t doing that,” except now they really are. Foghat is just Roger Earl. Jefferson Starship has David Freiburg. Foreigner and Kansas are touring w/no original members. At some point, the name really should be retired. Although I did read an article about how some bands are being sent out to protect a name or trademark. It is a business after all.2 points

"Playing" isn't the word I would use, honestly. It was more pick one up, noodle a little bit, realize that I suck, have the inner dialogue about how I wasted so many years not practicing or playing with other (actual) musicians), regret picking it up in the first place, and then hang it back up. As for the "difference," if there is one, it's a subtle one. In my case I lost interest in the instrument itself and got real with myself about the prospect of it ever being worth my time going forward. In @zorrow's case, he realized he's lost interest in a couple of his instruments and he'd rather see them played by someone who would get the enjoyment out of them that he wishes he did. Either way, their days are numbered.2 points

I have sworn off Lovepedal, but I did have to fight myself not to buy the Large Box JMP11. The JMP really does that 70’s Marshall thing.1 point

Fedex Ground has no "insurance" cap because they don't really offer insurance, but they've had that $1000 cap on "declared value" reimbursement for at least a dozen years. Of course they continue to allow you to declare and pay for whatever value you feel is appropriate which can offer a warm and fuzzy until you need it. Pirate Ship is great and offers third party coverage per shipment at competitive rates.1 point

Is the one on the left a CO? Or a re-top, maybe? The neck joints differ between them and everything is positioned farther south on the body of the bound one. Cool guitars, regardless.1 point

Well, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I felt like Bart Simpson reaching for the electrified cupcake on top of the fridge. Every time I just wanted to watch football they wanted to make it into a social event inviting all their "Karens" in their social network over, all dressed up in a jersey and jeans, all chattering about things that don't matter. You know, "Oh, your hair is so beautiful." "Oh Thank you, you should try my new beauty consultant...." yadda, yadda. I just wanted to lay around in my sweatpants, scratch where I wanted when I wanted, and drink beer. So, had enough of the Karens. I mean, I may as well have been married to Rob B. And that Keytar requires wearing spandex so certainly is gay. I get your point. Spot on.1 point

This came up in a conversation after I purchased my DuoTone. From what I've read the model just didn't catch on. So sales where limited. Any guesses on how many 3 holers and the the F hole Duotones where made?1 point

No, you only die once. You live everyday, hopefully like it's your last. Zorrow, sell them. A guitar in the case not used is not a guitar.1 point

I’m playing more than ever. I’m writing and recording new songs, practicing the setlist of my band, getting ready for our upcoming shows, and I’m also following a lesson plan to sharpen my chops.1 point

You guys are really messing this up. Look, those guitars are horrible. You need to sell them as quickly as possible. They are costing you money in space, heating and cooling. You need to sell these for $350 ASAP! DM me if you have a BOGO promotion. : )1 point

That's why I sold off my 'name' (USA-made and/or collectible) guitars and amps several years back...they were desirable, but the collector 'status' started to make playing them casually less and less enjoyable, less 'fun', with more of a financial 'responsibility' for keeping them. So I got rid of those, and I now have a small gathering of quirky musical mutts that I can play and use to my heart's content, with no regrets.1 point

Congrats on the Duotone! It’s amazing how useful a (plugged in) live acoustic sound you can get with one especially when blending in a good IR and adding some EQ and compression to the signal.1 point

I did that on an Ibanez bass tuner (the only crappy tuner Gotoh made), it was almost magical: I heated it with a cigarette lighter iirc, placed my biggest magnet on it and the cap popped right out to the magnet, I think I just used a guitar amp speaker for the magnet1 point

All I know is that buying this guitar is cheaper than orthopedic surgery and traction, and lots more fun than road rash. Whoever buys this guitar will be very happy IMO.1 point
