OK since we loosely talk of the Beatles I let you know an interesting Beatles story i heard from my wife's uncle who was playing the clubs with the Beatles in Liverpool before the Beatles got mega famous. they just arrived back from hamburg Germany and George walked into a club in Liverpool with a brand new Gibson 335. The uncle asked him "Wow how much did that cost" George just said "Money". :) The uncle was not impressed.

On a sour note to the story the uncle told me he was a "F'ing C$%T" and was glad when he died. :(

Not all a anecdotes are nice I suppose maybe I should of changed then end of the story

"Back To The Egg" and "Wings Over America" are still two of my favorite Wings albums, and I agree that the four McCartney live shows of the last decade that I've seen have been absolutely stellar performances.

But I do entirely respect Cary's "opinion".

LOL - "Thank you", Chris. I'm sure he does put on a great live show, but just saying... How much of his set list is post-1975? :) And I never really cared for him on that TV show, "Murder She Wrote"...

Harrison was 17 when The Beatles started. He very well could have been like a lot of kids in rock bands-- arrogant and rude.

As for McCartney's set list, he apparently rotated song lists on a South American tour this year.

That and when a stranger asks me how much I paid for something, it usually envokes a similar response. Basically, none of your business.

Interesting records from the last 40 years:

Venus And Mars

At The Speed Of Sound

Flaming Pie

Driving Rain

Chaos And Creation In The Backyard

Memory Almost Full

New

Electric Arguments

Relevant: Closely connected or appropriate to the matter at hand.

So, if the matter at hand is Cary's taste in music, maybe not. If the matter at hand is music in general, absolutely relevant.

Not to mention his extraordinary shows since his Rock rebirth in 2001.

Actually, Venus and Mars was released 40 years ago. I understand my opinions often offend you, Dave, but I did preface my comments with "personally". Again, he hasn't done anything I've liked for 40 years, and I really don't see that he's been all that relevant to music for those 40 years either. Of course, YMMV.

Everybody, Cary and I don't like each other.

I read about a guy who worked in a record store in the late '70s and a 14-15 yr-old girl came in asking for the Sgt. Peppers album. The clerk went to the Beatles bin and handed her a copy, to which she responded, "No, I want the real one, with the Bee Gees!"

You know, the real one with the real Bee Gees:

Kenya kicking might be the most fun I have all week.

There should be enough room for 2 pages.

Give peace a chance.

Dave has a grudge against me from several years ago when The Crucible part of the board was still active. I've let it go and moved on, but he still tries to jump in and tell me I'm wrong every time he gets the chance. I have a right to my opinions, and if he disagrees, that's not my problem. I just ignore him most of the time.

It doesn't surprise me that the new generations are forgetting the Beatles - I, myself can't stand most-all of their catalog. My generation doesn't give much relevance to all that pre-1976 stuff - its our PARENTS' music. I've heard it all, got really-tired of it when I was a pre-teen, and was glad when the punk-scene attacked disco and the 1980s came. The only Beatle, IMHO, who remained relevant since the 1980s was George when he had a few break-out hits, then was part of the Travelling Wilburys.

I like Kuntye...Kuntye Yeezus his full name i think....

Music classics should be teach at school (history of modern music, somethign like that)

I'm surprised with my nieces, who know their Sabbath, but prefer their Leppard...at 13 :)

and guys like Bruno Mars make the connection with the classics (cause Brown is a classic)

Very good point.

So, JH... How old was the uncle, when he said he was glad GH died?

You'd think that everyone would know that Paul McCartney was in the Beatles. Even I know that much and I was never a huge fan. At least for me anyway, that band just wasn't as good after Roger Waters left.

Now that's funny!! lol!
