David B Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 0007 (also known as Bond, James Bond) arrived today. I had scheduled to pick it up at the Fedex place for the required signature because I was at work, but it was on my carport without me having to sign when I got home. I was happy about that. When I opened the case & picked up the guitar, I started laughing out because the neck profile was MASSIVE! Someone finally got the profile right for what I like. I sat down & played it unplugged for a bit. The intonation & the setup were perfect... and I mean PERFECT! I sent Mike a message letting him know how killer the neck profile is & then plugged it in & played for an hour or so. The pickups are great just like everyone else has said already. There will be more Shishkovs in my future for sure!!!
veatch Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Congrats - and +1 for liking big-necked guitars. I've become a huge convert to that over the past 5 to 10 years or so...
cmatthes Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I knew that one was winging its way South, but am glad to know it made it safe and sound. That's another HOME RUN!! Keeper, f'sure.
GASguy Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 007 is appropriate....... because that guitar has "A License To Kill"Killer looks plus a big neck, what more could you ask for.
RobB Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 That's a beauty, David. Is that a tobacco sunburst finish?
David B Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 That's a beauty, David. Is that a tobacco sunburst finish?Yeah, it has a burst on the back also. Does that make it Jazzburst?? I let Mike pick the finish on this one.
RobB Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I believe it's Jazzburst. I don't think tobacco burst has the back and neck painted...
Jakeboy Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Jazzburst absolutely rocks!Congrats on an awesome NGD!
scottcald Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Good thing Mike's making all these test units now, so when the ordering opens up, they'll be really refined..This took me like 5 minutes to type, just because I couldn't finish that sentence without laughing.David, like the others, you've got a really high quality piece that will be enjoyed by generations of folks.
David B Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Good thing Mike's making all these test units now, so when the ordering opens up, they'll be really refined.. & then I'll have to order another one
Steve Haynie Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Duuuude... That has to be Photoshop. No guitar can look that perfect.
DBraz Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Such a classic combination. Colour, flamed maple, crowns, binding. Great!
coolfeel Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Yah - this one is badarse... another Shishkov masterpiece... congrats David, well worth the wait. Let's see a group shot of the Shishkov and the last Standard from the Hamer shop
Sugartune Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Boom! That thing is da bomb! Congrats and enjoy the sheet out of it.
BubbaVO Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I had to come back for a second helping of this one. I admit that I'm a flame maple junkie. My '96 Studio had a top with amazing detail: full on horizontal tiger stripes and vertical stripes too. Prettiest guitar I've ever owned. This one is prettier. Great job, Mike.
