It didn't seem to me like he was comparing them but explaining there are two very different design philosophies at each company. I felt like part of the point was agreeing with what you said - it's dumb to compare them because they were designed with completely different goals. I actually found it kind of interesting, but I didn't already know the differences in what got DiMarzio into pickups vs. Duncan or that Larry had at least some education in electrical engineering and Seymour was just winging it. I didn't know that DiMarzio basically hated stock pickups and wanted to build something different vs. Duncan wanted to figure out what made certain PAFs stand out and standardize it. I could see where that may be old hat to some by now, but I'd really never taken the time to look it all up. I enjoy pickups from both brands for a variety of things and really never got all that partisan over them, so I just never really got into the forum lore of it all.6 points

I was going to buy one of these, but "hamerhead" warned me about the zipper, and I don't want to make him mad at me 4 points

Saw Accept last year. During the harmony lead on, “FAAS”, The bass/drums dropped out and the three guitarists played it accapella. Glorious.4 points

I had one of the original Hermida pedals, back before Lovepedal took over. I liked the original Zen much more. The tube version reminded me of the old Tube Driver that Eric Johnson used. I could never get it to sound good.4 points

Seeing their preference for the Tung-Sol tubes reminds me of something I saw in the manual for my ToneBone pedal (it may have been on their web site). Someone asked, "What brand of tube do you recommend to make the pedal sound better?" They replied, "If we thought a different tube made it sound better, don't you think we'd have used it?"4 points

It was SOOO packed on Saturday. I made it through about 3/4 of the place. Missed Shark, but were you the guy in the Hamer Special Tshirt? I missed a bunch of the middle aisle especially after Zorrow showed up and I bought a guitar. Lunch called after that and then it was time to go back home to St. Pete. Here’s a lil sparkly thing that followed me home. 😄😈🤡 Allen Eden4 points

@Dave ScepterUnfortunately you can find people complaining about zippers on the Mono's that now cost $300 also. I would say, zippers are often repairable.3 points

I have one, although not in red, and it has not had any issues and serves my purpose well. It's not a Mono Vertigo by any means, but much better than the gig bags of yore.3 points

I found this: ...which is the insides of a PhatCat/Bigsby-equipped Newport. Not sure if that helps you - the tailpiece section would probably to be different.3 points

https://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid I got an Anderson at a Pawn Shop so I was definitely planning on buying a high quality gig bag. I'm tempted to buy two. I'd slightly prefer black.2 points

Earthquaker Life Pedal: And this guy, the Half Life (Pedal) I'm guessing no Octave switch and smaller footprint. Witty. ETA: Found this, An octave fuzz inspired by the Shin-Ei FY2 & FY6 units leads the circuit into a brutal big-box rodent-inspired distortion recreated with the best components and including a three-way clipping switch (OpAmp, Asymmetric & Symmetric). The second stage is a purely clean boost to further overdrive the preamp tubes of your vintage system into scaped harmonics and feedback overtone bliss.2 points

I think @django49 did a complete review maybe a month ago.2 points

Thanks for that... I really enjoyed this one... It seems like Wolf is a super friendly guy that's receptive to just plain open jamming with a friend🤘... I've always liked Ola's humor as well... both seem really down-to-earth, kinda guys2 points

...but I learned that in the video, lol. I'd never heard that until I watched it. I don't think the script and voice were AI. At least one of the images might have been. It was definitely a little thrown together in places though.1 point

Gator sells on 'lifetime warranty' which is great if you only live a year or so.1 point

My amp tech claims these are Chinese tubes but I don’t think they are. These came out of a buddy’s mesa combo in the early 90’s, note that they do not have the stickers or color coding that Mesa used later on. One tube tests WEAK. 25$ shipped?1 point

One of these sold on Reverb for like $500 a few weeks ago. Plus taxes and shipping, but I know these are high quality for something going so cheap.1 point

Hi Folks, After beating my head against the wall trying to fix a known migration bug effecting attachments in IPS for more than 20 hours. I decided to cut my losses, purchased, installed Xenforo and migrated all of our current data to it. It took a while but its been a SUCCESS and attachments work in the new forum! I'm in the process of validating the content and configuration with the help of Chris Matthes and Kiz. Once that is complete, I will open it up to everyone in parallel to the current board for further testing. Once we confirm its all good hopefully a few days. I will reimport the data from the current forum and swtich us over to the new one. All your ids and log in information and groups (supporter) should work in the new forum. Thanks all for the patience. Its been a journey but I can see the end in sight!1 point

Any argument on which pickup is superior needs to be couched in the disclaimer that it's all subjective. I have tried both, time and time again. While I've found a few JB's that were more palatable to my ear, the vast majority were not. SuperD's just never grabbed me. Full stop. It's kinda funny because I don't think of myself as being particularly discerning in my audio preferences; I'm not a tone chaser to the extent that I have seen on here and elsewhere. But I know what I like when I hear it.1 point

I got a wonderful T-62, and now a Daytona popped up. I am wondering how big the difference is… Does one need both (not from a fanboy/collectors view 😎).1 point

Atta' kid. I've paid too much for some of the best guitars on the planet (IMHO). I let their market value "catch up" to what I paid. Enjoy!1 point

The 90 has a full centerblock and is otherwise the same dimensions. Also, damn. I think your other guitar covers the base well, so you probably want to just get that Hamer back to me.1 point
