I bought it, never seen one,didn't know the existed but had to have it.I also bought one of the newports they had.

So sad to hear. The Wayne I got in 2012 out of the box was the best set up and easiest to play guitar I'd owned. Picture I took before I pulled it out of the case. I love the no frills look to it.

I just pulled my 1988 Burgundy Mist Model 3 out to give a little love to today. RIP Wayne

Just a quick update. 1) I posted earlier that it came with the unfilled warranty card which also stated that the guitar shipped with .009s. I restrung it with .009s and the floyd is set up perfectly! I was literally wondering if the strings on the guitar were the original?? 2) The strap button is on the upper bass horn and there was never a strap button not the rear neck heel, I've also seen the placement in both places and wondered when/why it shifted? But it obviously came from the factory this way as the back is pristine. 3) No Hameritis here but the headstock does worry me .... it's fine now and honestly I doubt I'll take this on many gigs but it sits in my studio and looks great ... and I'll play it when I need that kind of thing. I think many of those headstocks suffered damage as many people crank down the nut way tighter then needed, it just has to be tight enough to stop string movement but people really overdo it. Let's hope the headstock holds up but I don't see any reason why it won't. 4) I've figured out the switching system .... I think it's very versatile but also way more complicated than I would like .... I could easily have lived with a simple 5 way but ... it's fine.

I purchased a custom shop SG from @santellavision a bunch of years ago. It has the Alnico 3 Custom Buckers in it and has THE sound. Playing it immediately turns me into a five foot tall schoolboy.

Scott was the corner stone in Thin Lizzy's guitar canon. Scott and Robbo is one the best guitar duos of all time. Scott also yelled well with Gary Moore. And he was a great duo with Snowy White. His rythm playing and sense of melody as a lead player - always in support of the song - is as good as it gets.

I have a peak esr tester. It doesn't work on small caps. It's excellent on electrolytic, which I think is what it was meant for. I also have a BK precision 810C. I really like that one it measures the tiniest caps other just float open on. So Unless you need the ESR read out the BK 810 C is a nice older unit!

What @diablo175 said. Taking this TDC to heart, it sucks. When I was in grade/middle school, Wayne's shop was up on Arrow Highway in Azusa, CA. I wasn't playing guitar yet, but I have fond memories of riding my BMX there and just staring at all the guitars on the walls. Wayne and his employee were nice enough, mostly ignoring me as it was a business. First time I ever saw a Marshall full-stack...it scared me, lol! A few years later when I did start on guitar there were shops all over SoCal with Charvels, and they were expensive! Could never afford one then, and original PrePros are going for upwards of $10k these days. RIP, Wayne. You were a talented builder and a visionary.

... at least at my home: Recently I discovered this beautiful neon sign (not LED!). I suspect that it is from the 80s or 90s. I even had to buy a step-down transformer to be able to use it. Amazing that it survived all these years unharmed. With more than 40 Hamer guitars in my collection, it seemed to me to be the cherry on top. I hope you like it too.

Hey Guys- up for sale is my 2002 Studio Custom in green quilt ! I love this guitar, but I'm just not playing guitar much at all these days, and work commitments mean this is sitting in the case all the time. This guitar is immaculate- I really 'babied' this one, just one tiny indentation in the lacquer near the belly- but I didn't notice it until today in the angled light. Obviously I'd prefer a UK sale, but I'm just really out of practice with sending guitars internationally at the moment..... so UK preferably......or anyone who would be happy shipping it out to someone internationally.... I will happily pick up the cost for UK shipping- or I can travel for the right sale- I've done that before - it's always nice to hand over a Hamer and see someones face light up when they open the case! Anyway, more about the guitar- I have the original amber knobs, but not the original bridge pickup I'm afraid. I was changed out to a Dimarzio Air Norton ( I had a habit a few years back of all my guitars having different sounding bridge pickups ). Dimarzio strap lock buttons installed too. Plays and sounds amazing, as you would expect! Regretting this already.....£1900. The same one. They also have a black ‘85 SS-1 and a white ‘86 SS-1 hanging up there, but in nowhere near as nice condition and a few more changed parts.

The only shredder guitar / only Floyded guitar I have ever owned was a Charvel. I much preferred the aesthetic of the Ibanez Jem guitars, but it came down to what @diablo175 said, the neck. 1987 Model 3 (bought in '86) with EMG SA/SA/85 and SPC control I soldered up in my dorm room. I wish I had it back!

Closest I ever got to a real quality Charvel is the two Mighty Mite body Star and Explorer guitars along with my Japanese import M1. I enjoyed the small series of emails with Wayne about my Mighty Mites. Rest well Mr. Guitar Maker. 😎👍❤️🏁

Peak is the real shit. I have a $25 unit but you have to put the leads into a slot, so testing small devices is a pain, involving old resistors leads sticking out and wrangling them to contact the cap leads.

Rational, responsible thinking has no place in this hobby.

Definitely no slouch, but I felt a little sorry for him because it always seemed like whoever the "other" guitarist in Thin Lizzy was at any given time was the better player. These pics are from that "Thin Lizzy" tour when John Sykes fronted the band (so long ago I still had 'some' hair), him being one of the guitarists I referred to in the previous sentence. You can't compete with that guy.

Thanks for the replies! I use 10"s on everything and so I'll stick with those. I haven't owned a Floyd in 25 years ! This was very much an impulse buy as I've always liked that model and I love Hamers. Got my first hamer about two years ago ... Talladega Pro, which is a really great instrument. I lean very much towards traditional stuff so this SS is a very out there for me but I figured I'll have some fun with it. I really can't believe the condition it is in , according to the pics I got. Apparently it was purchased and never really played ... no fret wear and no damage whatsoever. For whatever reason, most SS guitars you see are beat to crap. From the serial number , I believe it was made in '85. 22 fret, strap button on upper horn, red with black hardware (the black hardware looks basically new which is really rare). I'm not 100% positive about scale length but I'm guessing it's more the Gibson 24 3/4" as I read Hamer put out a 25 1/2" version later (please correct me if I'm wrong). Here are some pics from the seller. Guitar is in transit.

I found it on "Kleinanzeigen". It's a website similar to "Craigslist". The seller is a musician himself (keybords) and had a studio in which he used the neon sign as decoration. He had acquired it many years ago when a music store closed down and now wanted to get rid of it. I had to pick it up in person, because he did not want to ship it for understandable reasons. I didn't even know that such a thing existed.
