Holy frijoles! If I could still play, I would be seriously interested in one or both of those! I'm going through the same thing. After spending a lifetime buying, selling, trading up, need that color, that one plays great, I always wanted one of those as a kid, etc. I had a great collection, perfect for me. Then physical/health events robbed me of my playing ability. I've let 3 of my 25ish collection go and I have 5 on Reverb right now but it's going to get harder and harder because after those every guitar I have left brings back a lot of memories and has more meaning to me. I will add this: after I let those first 3 go, I did not REALLY miss them and in my past whenever I've sold something usually I look back a few weeks or months later and wonder why I didn't do it sooner.5 points

Enough of the "thread shaming" and back to the topic at hand... Once your head lets these thoughts or realizations in, it's hard to go back. Ask me how I know. I described my guitar hording a while back as being akin to big game trophy hunting. Hanging all of those guitars on my wall looked cool as fuck, but it was a constant reminder to me that I wasn't playing anymore, and all of those wonderful instruments hanging there collecting dust weren't helping anyone. What started out as a hope that the guitar being out of the cases and in my face would inspire me to play actually backfired miserably. Once that light bulb lit in my brain, it never went out.5 points

That's why I sold off my 'name' (USA-made and/or collectible) guitars and amps several years back...they were desirable, but the collector 'status' started to make playing them casually less and less enjoyable, less 'fun', with more of a financial 'responsibility' for keeping them. So I got rid of those, and I now have a small gathering of quirky musical mutts that I can play and use to my heart's content, with no regrets.4 points

A simpler time. No cel phones. Before the food industry made us all fat and inflamed. And you could display the Rebel Flag in all its glory in Oakland, CA. I hated this band when I was a teen now it makes me crave those days.3 points

those would be tough to replace!, I'd keep them given the difficulty/cost of replacement, and the likelyhood of someday wishing you hadn't sold. Do you need the cash? - don't sell and then buy something that depreciates rapidly: always use different funding for a new purchase if it's for something that will depreciate, I know a guy who sold his real Bassman to buy a hot tub, the hot tub is worth zero now, and I'm sure he sometimes thinks of the Bassman he could have kept. 8-9 years ago I sold some gear to finance a mtn bike for racing, -terrible investment!, it was mostly not very special gear, but I think the '89 Jem $$ may have gone into that fund.3 points

Let it run! It'll be interesting to see what everyone thinks. Personally, I need players. I sold a 25th LE and a 30th that were stunning guitars - best guitars I'd ever owned - but too perfect and worrisome to gig. A scratch or dent would have killed me. Couldn't do it. The new owners love them. I'm not a collector (wife disagrees) and my Shishkov is the last collector-type I have. But even that is in regular rotation. Yours are sweet but once they're gone, well...They WILL cash out handsomely and somebody will use and enjoy them both. It's a tough call but the $$$ could buy some pretty nice players.3 points

... and I'd love the standard, but my GAS budget for the year is already exceeded...3 points

Sell them. Edit to expand thought: You donβt play them and you have no plans to play them. Seems obvious to me unless you just want them as art or some sort of potential investment. For me, 100%, sell them. I realize that my opinion here will surprise no one.2 points

It is not. I think I deleted a topic once, and I vaguely remember it was in βmoderation optionsβ, or something like that, which I cannot find.2 points

Fair enough. Nuance is difficult (for me, anyway) in posting online, and I meant no harm. I know your'e a good dude, Ionel, but posting, "sale previews", is generally discouraged on the HFC. Really, I should leave the policing to the mods and mind my own nevermind...2 points

Either sell them, or don't. Posting this tease is not SOP. What I think about selling these guitars doesn't matter one bit. You're the one who lives with the consequences. Post prices, or delete the post.2 points

I'm at the age where I really don't like to spend a lot of money "unless something around the house/car breaks and I need to buy a new water heater or something" and I've collected tons of guitars over the years that I now use as currency... I'm basically a tinker that has a lot of different hobbies, and my mental thought is if I see something I want or need, I ask myself would I trade a guitar for it?.. which guitar?.. or how many guitars is that worth?.. it sounds odd but it works for me...1 point

The original band was great at the time. My Skynyrd collection started in 1977 or 1978 when I was in seventh grade, and those cassettes were played all through high school. Seeing present day Lynyrd Skynyrd ain't the same. During a concert there are doubts about it really being a Lynyrd Skynyrd show. Seeing the Artimus Pyle Band late last year gave me a similar feeling, but there were Artimus and Barry Lee Harwood on stage, two people with a genuine connection to the original band.1 point

I love the videos he does. He's just such a mellow guy. He also looks like one of those people who could eat all the junk food and not gain a pound.1 point

If you're on the fence, I would keep them. Especially as the market seems to be softening from where it has been the last few years. What is the white semi-hollow 1 pickup V in the second pic?1 point

Just my opinion but it is a matter of what is offered. I agree with Rob. These are not FROM... (fucking run of the mill). thank you, I just made that up. I am thinking of selling a pedal, I am thinking of selling some parts or strings. Of course you should keep them they are special. Of course you should sell them, they would fetch top dollar. Not meaning to be harsh but... I want them both but I know I am probably not willing to pony up. Just my unneeded opinion. Carry on.1 point

The main HFC Message Board is for topics regarding guitars, amps, and other gear, as well as music in general. Items of human interest concerning our members are also encouraged to be posted here or in the Outer Circle as appropriate. Use your own common sense. All topics not related to the above go on Outer Circle board. All advertisements for items wanted to buy, being sold, traded, or given away belong on the For Sale board. Don't hijack threads trying to sell stuff to people. If you want to contact them and offer something, use the PM or email features. Above all, treat others here with the same courtesy you expect to receive, put simply for those who may not grasp this simple concept, DON'T BE A DICK. Thanks1 point
