EDIT JUNE 12: Taking this off the board for now. Thanks for the support/ input/etc. my friends. Pic of how it looked before I cleaned it up and some more recent ones. Has a brass nut and I had to get a switch tip for it. The volume pot for the neck pickup cuts in and out and probably needs to be replaced. Looks like one strap button has been replaced. There are some dings that don't photograph well but I tried to show everything as clearly as I could. 3-piece neck. Humbucker rings are replacements but the originals are in the case. Price based on PPFF transaction. Message me here or leave a reply if you'd like to know more.8 points

As an owner of the "Big Beautiful Book of Bass", I know that Geddy Lee has quite the collection. He does not however have a very early 4000 bass, which had a huge gold scratch plate, single horseshoe pickup, strange plastic and lucite bridge cover, and other things. Well, Rick did him a solid and made him one, though with a neck pickup so it would give him the sound he wants. Now I have no interest in having this bass. I already have a 4003 in Fireglo. I love how well it does the Rick thing. However you can bet your ass that rich Rush / Geddy Lee fans have been activated by this. Apparently a second one was made in a more blue color with a Schaller bridge. I'm hoping that for once Rickenbacker decides "yes, we want to make money" and gives the people what they want. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2026/04/27/inside-geddy-lees-new-custom-rickenbacker-4000v-bass-for-rushs-return/5 points

You can probably have one made for the cost of what... four Rush concert tickets?5 points

I'll wait for the none more blue one. It's bound to sound best.4 points

Oh man don't even get me started on the prices of Concert Tickets, with or without the involvement of Ticketmaster / LiveNation. Here's the second one they made, which is more my style. I have no idea what the control setup is, but IIRC, Geddy lee is pretty much both pickups FULL OUT on his Jazz and Ricks.4 points

All of this Corrosion of Conformity talk on the thread a couple of weeks back made me take another shot at an SG. I need a dedicated guitar for tuning to D standard. Found a pretty good deal on a 2016 SG HP someone had thoughtfully improve, i.e., removing the G-Force tuner. I thought the titanium nut and the sculpted heel were cool ideas. I like the thought of easily being able to raise and lower the nut, particularly for something I am going to set up for DOOM. What I was not prepared for was the "soloist" neck. Gibson wasn't joking around by calling it a "soloist" neck because it feels exactly like my 98 Jackson Soloist. You may like or hate that depending on preference, but I think it is pretty cool. Maybe I will actually keep an SG for once. I also have swapped some pups on a tobacco burst LP traditional and threw in some Gravelin pups he made for me awhile back. I sold the guitar they were in, but kept the pickups. Proof positive that modern LPs have a more pronounce arch than the Norlin era LPC they came out of. The treble pickup ring cracked IMMEDIATELY. Should have thought of that before I thought of that!3 points

I recently did some significant downsizing of gear that I've accumulated over the years, mostly larger amps and speaker cabinets, but some guitars as well. I had already decided that I didn't want to ship or deal with individual sales, so selling or trading to Guitar Center was the easiest option. Like you, I wanted to have a good idea of the retail value of my stuff so I could determine if what GC was willing to pay was reasonable compared to what I could get if I tried to sell everything individually. Google and AI were worthless. Ebay wasn't much better, mostly because it didn't have recent sales of most of what I was selling. But the "sold" prices they did publish seemed suspect as well. The two sources that were reliable were Reverb and Guitar Center. On Reverb, I searched sold listings and filtered by "most recent first". I then deducted the cost of shipping and Reverb's seller fees to get a "net to me" estimate. I searched Guitar Center's "Used and Vintage" listings and assumed actual selling prices are 10% less. My primary goal was to clear out large, heavy and seldom used gear. I ended up trading everything for two guitars, Because I was trading rather than getting cash, I received very favorable offers. Based on my research, better than 60% of retail. Considering that we ended up with GC paying me $300 in cash after the trade, I also saved the 10% (Illinois and Cook County) sales tax on the guitars I purchased.2 points

I like him a lot. WAY back when, our band covered a couple of his tunes......More Than One Way Home and Standin' At The Station. They were crowd pleasers. (Even if I was then using a modded Hamer Artist rather than an M3).2 points

Rickenbacker's metallic blue is really nice in person.2 points

I just checked out that video and it's very informative. There aren't any historical photos of personnel, the plant or of famous players gigging with the instrument; just pictures of assorted models that don't coordinate with the narration. Still, it appears did an appropriate job researching the brand's history.2 points

Thanks! This will be my third one. I imagine it will mostly see the house because it isn't like anyone around Oxford is playing Down or COC covers. Good news is that I could absolutely murder someone with this aluminum case though.1 point

The Strat has sold. Ibby - $575: More pics here. I bought the Ibanez Q54 to be a travel guitar last summer. It fit that bill perfectly! In case you're like me and are at least in part looking at these because you want the option to take a full size guitar on trips that will fit in an overhead bin, this one absolutely does it. The roasted maple neck feels great, and the sounds available through the stock electronics cover a lot of ground. The won't absolutely slam the front in of an amp, so if you are into metal, it needs a boost I feel to really beef up, but otherwise, does everything else well. This is an earlier version that has the jumbo Jescar EVO gold frets rather than stainless. They are still in great shape. The main cosmetic issues with the guitar, and the only reason I didn't mark it as very good, is first that it has a textbook example of a neck pocket finish crack. Ibanez must really lay the poly on these guitars. I have included pics of the neck pocket with the neck off to show that this is only in the finish. The neck pocket itself is clean as can be. The other issue is some scratches and minor discoloration in the belly cut on the back of the guitar. Overall, this is an absolutely gigable little workhorse that works well for travel, for any time you want to save some room when carrying gear, or just if you straight up love headless guitars.1 point

😅 Might be true! Spent 35 years appraising commercial real estate and yes, there was an occasional SWAG over that time. But pricing anything but the most commonplace guitars for sale almost always is.1 point

Cool bass!...........................kinda "Art Decoish". like those "Cat's Eye" control knobs. If I was a bass player I own one of those.1 point

my guess would be african. since it does not show any wear or heavy use that suggests made for the tourist trade. or it could be a chinese knock off1 point

Needed to do a bit of a change to the original post - I found a set of Hamer branded tuners in chrome, but will prefer black. So if someone has them in black I'd gladly swap with some $ on top.1 point

among all the people he mentioned meeting, I can't believe he left out meeting me in the early 2000's!! I had brought a stack of his cd's for him to sign, probably 4 or 5, he was : "oh wow, thanks!, oh wow! thanks!!..." etc -seemed super cool1 point

It doesn’t insult me at all, though of course that’s a no. I am still hesitant about putting it on Reverb. I might actually keep it, if nobody finally takes it here.1 point

hilarious! because RE appraisal is my 'day job' too. yes, if your dealer can get a premium price and help with the difficult elements, that might be worth it, probably worth a try and see how it goes.1 point

Update! "To quickly resolve this issue we would like to send these funds to your Wallet to be able to use right away on Reverb." I got the money back in my Wallet. All of it. I wasn't going to test to see how long it would take to be credited back to my bank account! I gave the seller 1 star. I give Reverb 0 stars! They need a Mr Obvious!1 point
