Hamer "Bucket List"

So, how many people have a list of things Hamer-related as goals?

The recent death of a close friend and mentor had the effect of rethinking what is ahead and how long we all have to accomplish our goals. It gets scary when you start thinking of mortality.

Sure enough, PLENTY of things yet to be done with friends and family. Things to do with investments and such to provide for the future WHEN something does happen to either of us. Places to go. Things to see. Things of more consequence than guitars. But less time to get around to it all.

In addition to the serious issues of life, I started thinking about what musical itches I would like to scratch. And as a subset of THAT list, some Hamer instruments I have yet to try. Playing would be good. Owning, even if less than permanently, even better. And there being limited quantities, the following are all the more interesting:

25th Anniversary Limited

30th Anniversary Limited

Studio Custom Redwood

And somewhat less scarce, a Korina Standard.......Mixed feelings on that, as I am not sure I'd bond that much with the shape and size, Still.......

I suppose there is no reason to be in a hurry......And I would be better off if I sell or trade some existing gear before hand....Still making up a list, which will include Gibson(2), PRS, G & L(2), Mesa (4).....A work in progress, though I have sold a handful of guitars and amps in the past couple weeks....A start.

So, does anyone else think along those lines? Or do I just have too much time on my hands? :)

I'd like to get another 25th ltd. I had one and sold it...that was really a 'presentation grade' instrument without the over-the-top blingification of the Artist Ultimate.

I'm all for having goals - whether personal or professional.

As for my Hamer bucket list how about:

1) The Tally in tobacco burst with frets over the binding.

2) A Koa topped Mirage II with Gen TX/BBQ pups

3) A red 3 hole DuoTone

4) A customer order: Korina Californian with a set neck, vintage sized neck carve, sustain block bridge, and tumbling boomer inlays, reverse headstock and tuners underneath

5) An Improv

I`m big into the Steve Stevens, so:

One from every year of production, both the SS1 and SS2 lines... I have a pair of 85`s so I have that year covered

A custom SS1 or 2 in some way, shape or form, LED`s, graphics, something that sets it apart, ala the Tommy Williams one somebody has

and then:

a case/closet/underbed queen in mint shape, any style

a Prototype or Phantom

a 25th anniversary

an early short scale neck-thru Chappy

as a pipe dream, one of the first thousand ones made

guitars:

Standard

Phantom A5

Cali

B12 - any variation

I've pretty much owned every Hamer I've wanted. Except a 25th Ltd/Artist Custom with an ebony fretboard. And I doubt I'd want to own them (at least not long term), but I'd like to play a Newport 90 and a Tally Pro at some point.

Add a Triple Threat and an EM Tally onto that list, and that pretty well does it.

After that, i have a sling-load of COs i'd love to do.

I can't complain at all with the ones i have now, though. I'm actually pretty happy with what i got. Still room for one more guitar (there always is), but GAS has been effectively curbed by economics these days...

Someday... Yes sir, some day...

Across all brands there are really only a few I keep my eye out for. My current Hamer world consists of a korina Vector, Sunburst, P90 Special and a Daytona, and between them they cover pretty much everything I play.

If I had the chance I would like to play a Newport and maybe a Tally with the Double D's, but I don't see either as something I need.

If I ever had the money laying around for a CO, I'd probably go elsewhere because about as wild as I'd get with a Hamer CO would be something like a flattop Sunburst.

+1.

Funny, I stumbled across this video earlier today...presented here for those in a collecting mood:

He's richer than Croesus, but I'll bet that he wishes he was still pushing 50 as he was here, instead of 70.

I've had practically every Hamer model over the years-certainly any I've ever wanted, except for :

-TLE Custom (yes, I'd deal with a Floyd for one of these)

-Newport (w/Bigsby)

-Phantom 12

A Phantom Doubleneck would be my dream guitar though.

I think I checked my last Hamer box recently.

Take that all you teachers who said I'd never accomplish anything in my life.

Been a long time since I taught anything (in a classroom) but I would give you a passing (it along) grade.

Standards are very comfortable IMO. More comfortable than a Sunburst, SG, LP, Tele, even a Strat. And it can be used as a shield. And actually, my Norlin Era Les Paul Custom is significantly heavier than either of my standards. You may want to get a nice wide strap though. I use a strap meant for bass with the big guns and it helps a ton.

Hope everyone manages to fill their buckets.

There's just one Hamer I want these days, and it's in the possession of a member of this board. Two P90s, a wraptail, and the Beatles.

I sure hope he sells it to me one day, and that I can afford it if he does.

On the somewhat reasonable side, a Virt' and a T62.

From the Lotto Dreamland file, a 25.5" scale, 2-humbucker, Impact guitar with a 2Tek and Sustainiac and - perhaps needless to say - none of the goofy Lita graffitta on it.

Pretty happy with the current Hamer stash... A few missing pieces, though.

Monaco III and a nice Junior would pretty much do it.

Some crazy custom Cali Doubleneck...you know, something subtle like that. :D

Actually, I'm pretty good with my current Hamers, and all the cool ones I've been fortunate enough to have owned over the years, but would really dig a Monaco Bass.

Until then, I've got a 4 digit "project" waiting in the wings that will fill that bill, if I ever get it finished up.

I've had everything that I wanted, except maybe a big necked '77 Sunburst.

Wouldnt kick a 77 Sunburst out of the stable for eating crackers.

I'd love to be reunited with my old '79 Standard, #0166, and I think I may have a lead (if anyone else does, let me know, please), would love to custom order a few, like;

* A set neck Cali - single/single/humbucker with some fancing wiring, boomers, and a purty top

* A Trans Red Standard Custom, perhaps with boomers - really like the tumbling boomers idea, unless I could find an OLD one

* Despite having picked up an Indigo Standard Custom a couple of months back, for 25 years my "Grail" guitar has been an Indigo Standard Custom with a flame maple board (couldn't get the one that was up on Feebay last summer 'cause 'o' da Floyd).

I could probably go for a Newport Pro Custom wth a Bigsby, and a Monaco III too.

I haven't forgotten ;)
