TheDan Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Cream white Gibson Flying V with white pickguard, so sexy! Note: I'd also take a Vector with those specs
gorch Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Jens Ritter Princess Arabella Had the opportunity to play it at Musikmesse for a minute or two the other year. Lovely guitar. Great design! Instead of baritone I would tune it to 432 Hz standard pitch.

kizanski Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I can honestly say that I've managed to get my hands on every guitar that I really wanted.Of course, I'd like to own a '59 Les Paul Sunburst, but I think I'd rather be rich enough to be able to buy one. Then I would probably just get a sick '59 Reissue.I guess, being a Strat guy at heart, I'd really love to have a '59 slab board Strat. No wait...I did own one of those once.Nevermind.
bubs_42 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 That is a jaw-dropper. Class with a capital “K." In 1996 I was going to order that Exact set of appointments but on a Standard and i'm gald I didn't because it should have been a V.
django49 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 A BIT over the top. And less than 16K.....EUROS!http://www.guitars-shop.de/product_info.php/cPath/7/products_id/664
G Man Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 In played a Dana Bourgeois OMS 12 fret slothead that still haunts me, although a Martin 00-28VS would also fit the bill. And while I'm at it, a proper jazzmaster.
LefThanDed Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Lefty Zon Legacy single pickup bass in local pawnshop. Slight headstock delamination but shop still would not budge off "pawnshop price". Years later noticed same bass in Craigslist for even higher price. (Conveniently omitting headstock image, even upon request...)Disclaimer: not "Grail" status but also not purchase-worthy price point.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I guess I'm a combo of "very lucky" and "fairly low standards".I never thought I would own a flamed maple Cali w/ boomers. Thought it was just too much above me. But part of that was I couldn't imagine myself spending $1300 on a guitar, when there were so many good ones for $300. I've now spent $2000 or more on guitars 3 times, so that was mostly just getting used to a higher price point. But I also never imagined I would be able to find, much less purchase the Rainsong JZ-1000.And then I never imagined I would ever have a shot at getting a Virtuoso!, much less at a price I could afford. Somehow, everyone else was short of cash or something, cuz I think I got it at a lower price point than it had been selling. That I have a rare maple Californian signed by Ted Nugent was an unexpected gain. I would never have put anything that specific on my dream list. And I also never had a Hamer MGD guitar on my dream list, but I'm really glad I got that one, too (even though its graphics were destroyed...)I don't have anything else on my dream list anymore.
Lockbody Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Not getting in on the first order of Shishkov's even though I must have been one of the first 20 to read the initial thread.Yep, same boat. Now I'll probably never get one.
JimHalinda Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Newport Pro.I'm a semihollow guy and have an Ibanez AS-180 that I love, but from all I've heard about the Newports, I'm pretty sure I would love one.
Hackubus Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I saw one of the lightning graphic Kramer Nightswans at a music store when I first began playing, and it totally mesmerized me. Never managed to snag one.
Steve Haynie Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 The opportunities have been there for me in the past to get whatever it was that dazzled me, but my money went into building a home recording studio. Now the equipment is outdated and almost would be traded for a used chorus pedal if the offer came along. A Standard in a bright '59 burst has never made into my possession, but my korina Standard makes up for it. A Spector USA bass would be nice.
Sugartune Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 - 70's Antigua tele Custom- Duojet in Cadillac GreenOne last...Collings I-35 LC DeluxeNot to mention to various Hamers and each of their variants. My Holy Grail overfloweth.
zzzdat Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Been looking for a DOT neck orange Reverend Ron Asheton Volcano for three years.I know they exist, but where are they?Cool BeansGene
diablo175 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I saw one of the lightning graphic Kramer Nightswans at a music store when I first began playing, and it totally mesmerized me. Never managed to snag one. NightSwan was definitely one of my grail guitars back in the day. Not so much nowadays due to it's top mount Floyd and short scale. To that end, I really don't have a grail guitar anymore. Maybe some rock god's Hamer Cali with unique specs but I truly haven't seen one that I can point to. Keep thinking I could get along with a Ibby JEM and was tempted to snag one of the 30th anniv. Limited Editions. More so for one of the earlier ones in desert yellow or floral drapery pattern. Likewise with an Ibby Iceman. Just haven't seen one that would make me want to lay down the $$$.
JustKid Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 About 7-8 years ago there was the guitar on sale - Jackson Limited Edition 91 with serial number 1 along with Guitar Player ( or Guitar World ) magazine from same year with this guitar on the first page and with an inside poster. And I didn't go for it. Since that time I got 3 of them, but that one is still sitting in my memory.
DBraz Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Holy grail Hamer's for me include:1) The Kellifornian2) That custom order 24 fret Cali/Cent with the natural flame top and unusual pickup selector location3) Chris's Prince guitarThere are others I desire but don't quite qualify as holy grail.Others, that I own, used to be on "the list",
velorush Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I'd like a Les Paul some day. And a Telecaster. Probably a Suhr.

Sadly, as with all Soloists, the f-ing volume knob is RIGHT smack dab where my strumming, picking hand follow through occurs and that, my friend, is an unforgivable no-no.
Tres Aardvarks Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I saw one of the lightning graphic Kramer Nightswans at a music store when I first began playing, and it totally mesmerized me. Never managed to snag one. I saw a lightning Nightswan for $400 at MGR 15 years ago. Foolishly didn't snag it, went back to get it and it was gone. When I first got into guitar, it was through the late 80s guitar gods. The first catalog I ended up with was an Ibanez catalog, and while I really dug Satriani and Vai I thought the guitars Skolnick and Gilbert had were the coolest! Years later in college I was back on bass and exploring jazz. Found Michael Manring and he blew my mind. His custom model was so freaky cool I wanted one (even though I knew I'd never play it in public for fear of being mocked). On a happier note, there were two holy grail guitars that I DID get: I lusted after a flame maple Cali for years, and an Impact bass. Got them both from the same pusher
Jem Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Solid flame maple bodied Steve Stevens - I had two opportunities to buy it and both times I (financially) talked myself out of it and I've never seen another one for sale.
DBraz Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Solid flame maple bodied Steve Stevens - I had two opportunities to buy it and both times I (financially) talked myself out of it and I've never seen another one for sale.Wow. I'd like to see a picture of that one. Colour?
Jason01 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I got my grail, the Vintage S. I didn't know it was going to be that way when I got it but after playing it for a day I knew it was "the one" and that hasn't changed since then. I'd still like to try a USA Jackson RR and a cream LP custom (same influence).
